This video was very helpful I am a 48 yr old single Mom of three sons My oldest is 21 and just bought a Harley My middle son is 17 and traded his dirt bike for a Ninja 1000😳 brThey both have had experience riding however, I have not…except for one of their dirt bikes I nearly crashed years ago!🤦♀️brWell, they convinced me to try again so I just purchased a 2023 Honda Rebel 300! I think it’s a good starter bike for me I practiced in a parking lot yesterday, but these tips you shared I will definitely be trying I am also enrolling in the safety training class soon I know it will be a while before I am comfortable to ride in traffic I’m nervous yet super stoked! Just going to go at my own pace until I am very comfortable with my Rebel My 12 yr old (that has a dirt bike now) is already saying he can’t wait to get his first motorcycle too With 3 sons it’s inevitable I need to learn to ride! Thanks again for the great starter video! Pray for me! 🙏👊😁 Comment from : Angela Diaz |

Awesome video I AM A TOTAL NOOB I took a Motorcycle training course to get some learning-My very first time on a motorcycle ever and they supplied the bikes but I FAILED miserably with many mistakes and they sent me home and was due to lack of practice where I don't have a bike to practice on and the ability to use the clutch and shifting to control the bike It was fun but failing was not fun at all as I really want to become a biker, always wanted to be a biker One thing I can say as I was doing the course, NOT once did I ever drop the bike like a lot of people do when first learning to ride That was my very first time on a motorcycle and it was awesome, now if I could have passed would be nice I did learn a few things while on the bike but I felt really bad not passing and I really wanted this Comment from : KJV BIBLE BELIEVER TAL |
This vid taught me the pre-MSF basics a year-ish ago… It was an essential foundation for learning on the fly in the program! Comment from : SongJLikes |
am I missing something, if you hold the clutch the bike wouldn't move, the clutch disengages the engine Comment from : Justobserving |
14:35 Lmao my guy have you crashed already? Atgatt man, knees are important Those joints are what let you walk I don't care if you are only planning on going 10mph max, freak accidents and freaky people exist! Wear that protection Comment from : AllTheOthers |
The sheer amount of times me and my little buddies dropped our friends Suzuki 80 in ditches, the woods, in fields while “learning” to ride 🤣 Ahh, the eightiesbr…Yes, take the course, it’s the safer bet 👍🏻 Comment from : Darth Durkel The Wise |

Remember being men? Remember a shaking of hands or a vigorous hug between friends?? Behaviour we as men have been doing for thousands of years Well I’m here to tell you that something different needs to happen now and as you are a spineless child that has been conditioned to avoid anything that resembles a man by weak times and a reluctance to do difficult things will just do as you are told by the television Don’t think for yourself ok! Remember, thinking for yourself is a ultra right trait, along with being fitness orientated, and you will be ousted as a free-thinker (hint: that’s bad) You may commence postulating yourself in adhering to the new-normal Remember, the TV is there to keep you informed Don’t ask too many questions! And do the right thing (don’t worry, we are here to help You will be periodically updated what that is as we deem is required) Comment from : D Howison |

Do motorcycles not stall out in first gear with the clutch fully engaged and no throttle applied? I learned to drive manual in a car and seeing what appears as you fully engaging the clutch and putting no throttle yet the bike still goes without stalling is weirding me out Comment from : Chaals |
You may be able to take of turn and stop in a hr but will take a yr minimum before you ever need to be on the streets 40 plus yrs started at 6 in dirt hit streets at 14 when roads were half as full as today, had 8 yrs on bikes and was lucky to live saw a few kids in hs and right after in college get first bike being a street bike die soon after on them having ridden for yr taught a few kids and some semi adults until you been in saddle a while and not prone to panic, and know by instinct whether to brake turn accelerate or a combo of them in a split second roads will kill you These learn in a hr videos are useless, get a dirt bike spend 6 months minimum falling crashing and making panic mistakes in safe area trust me saw it way to many times, I want every one to ride I love it but I want you to ride for a long time healthy Comment from : RT 22 |
Please to anyone don’t just watch the videos please go get your license before you start riding it can cause an deadly accident if your not 100 sure on your bike Comment from : Zoe Bumpass |
You were power walking it without any throttle? No matter how gradually i released the clutch, my bike was stalling if there was no throttle at all Something about the bike differences? Comment from : Brandon |
I'm sure I could always just Google it, but here's my theory on why dragging rear brake adds stability: think about riding a pedal bicycle When I ride a pedal bike, I usually start braking with the rear, especially at higher speeds Front braking too hard can cause the bike to pivot around the axle of the wheel, while the wheel stays stationary In other words, a stoppie or flip I think when you rear brake, that same reaction occurs, except around the rear axle That forward rotational force around the rear axle would translate into a downward force on the front wheel, giving more traction Comment from : Q̶o̶D |
You are teaching some things that they did not have me do in MSF class When sitting on the bike, not running Pressing the bars to get a feel for counter steering Was in a class of 16 Things felt rushed Comment from : allen micheal |
y'all take the god damn courses, dont replace that education with some chucklefuck on the internet Comment from : mrmc101 |
Dumb question, when I pop into first from neutral my bike dies, any idea what causes that? Comment from : Rayzor Ray |
I hopped on my motorcycle for the first time and countersteering kinda came naturally Comment from : Grave Stoner |
Starting and shifting a bike is the easy part Turning is the hard part and that was really glossed over It essentially boiled down to turn your head Which yea correct but I would hazard a bet for most people with zero experience really struggle leaning or turning/pushing the bars to turn My 02 cents Comment from : Brian Smith |
1st: get a light weight small hp / cc used bike to learn on that you won't worry about dropping or scatching ! You don't need a heavy 1100cc bike or fat tail Harley ! Your asking for trouble Comment from : BS Detector |
No you are not - Id be pleased to critique you as a fool if you prefer - there are over 5,000 bike fatalities a year How many took lessons like yours ? I have invested a month in training someone I love, yet they are still not ready for just a Rt 1 Its no wonder I would not subscribe to your channel Why not offer flying lessons too ! Bought my 1st bike in Feb, sat on bike for 5min or so, started the bike and started driving around, feeling brakes and turning and acceleration About 20 min later I drove to get petrol I got the hero eco 150cc, but I have dropped bike 2* and fell 1 onto grass battling with clutch and petrol Great bike to learn with Comment from : Brad Smit |

As an MSF Rider coachI can assure you, we never, EVER tell you to cover the front brake lever Quite the opposite We encourage to Never cover the brake lever Also, mention Squeezing the clutch lever BEFORE pressing down to first gear Comment from : Dan Nickason |

What cracks me up about all these how to vids Is they say do not drive ur bike on the road Do it in a parking lot But how do u get to a parking lot without driving on the road I mean ig they’re saying u must own a truck to learn to ride a motorcycle Comment from : nate hall |
The hardest thing to convince a new "wanna be" motorcycle rider is that motorcycles "want" to be stable at speed A bicycle going 20mph (to me) feels MUCH less stable than a motorcycle at the same speed Comment from : James Slick |
Greetings from Latvia Recently i decided to learn how to drive a motorcycle As a starting motorcycle i bought a KTM duke 125 Previously i owned a 125cc scooter and a soviet IŽ planeta 4 motorcycle And i gotta say, there is still a lot to learn for me So my best course of action now would be to drive to nearest empty parking lot and practice more and more I really enjoyed the video and for me it was very explanatory Thank you guys for great content I'm off to practice:) Stay safe everyone Comment from : guntars |

This was helpful for me after I got my 1st bike even tho the bike I got was no where near starter bike😂 (My 1st bike was a 2011 RSV4R,it was my dads but after he passed he put it his will to give the bike to me and I was so scared shit-less at 1st and after watching this video and doing the proper course I’m now chilling and pretty confident in my skills even tho the bike still scares me shit-less) Comment from : RivenSama |
Dude, do you coach professionally? Because I would’ve take this course 15 times before the one I got with that overly nervous coach that I got He was screaming at us so loudly I expected him to tell me I did something wrong Nah, he just thought I picked up too quickly for the rest of the class (while in reality, I was f’n scared of what I was doing) Comment from : Jérôme Lévesque-Boucher |
Don't be scared of the bike falling over at low mph It's hundreds of pounds unlike a bicycle The angular momentum through the wheels is very hard to fall over in a straight line Comment from : Hydro Aegis |
Imma be honest I walk 15 miles to work every day and I can’t afford a car or bike I only take the walk cause I have 2 boys, so I don’t have a choice would u or any body be able to help me an consider given to me for free and I’ll do work for u to pay it off ? was going to do the msf course since you can do free, but also happen to have decades of experience on smaller bikes yes, most people should take the course, but if you already have the experience, and are someone who takes safety and practice seriously, it's not at all the same monster as being someone whos never touched a bike Comment from : F Cole |

I don't like that they are teaching noobs to finalize stops w Front brake! On even mid sized bikes that practice can result in a tip over if wheels are not completely straight Comment from : Jeff Killey |

I loved the MSF course Heck, my wife did it twice so that she could accompany a friend the 2nd time I highly recommend it I had zero street bike experience, and had only rode a tiny dirt bike (no clutch) a bit, about 25 years prior Aced the written and riding parts, including that dreaded figure-8-in-a-box :) Comment from : Vhayne |
