I absolutely agree with always wearing gear I was 15 and riding my moped here in Finland and ended up coming off when a car sideswiped my rear wheel I was wearing 3 layers on my top and some thick trousers and going only 30km/h, I ended up skidding over 5m on the asphalt Thankfully it was brand new and smooth, so my leg didn't suffer but I ended up with a very large cut on my elbow through 3 layers of clothing (long shirt, jumper, jacket and a paper thin windbreaker) That just goes to show that coming off even at low speed can be extremely bad ALWAYS WEAR GEAR Comment from : AngryKid Plays |
Thank you for the information Comment from : Alim |
Is it worth doing my CBT now at 16 or should I wait till I’m 17 in a couple of months time? Comment from : JrH |
Interesting In my MSF class (sort of the US version of a CBT class) they actually recommended we cover the front brake lever with our right hand fingertips But they also worked with us extensively from the beginning on muscle memory of braking: applying rear brake while squeezing the front brake instead of yanking it The theory being that in a panic situation, you will revert to habit, so learn the right habit from the beginning Just a different approach, I guess, still gets you to the same place Comment from : Cisium |
Thanks for the information, really helpful stuff in there, at the end talking about always wearing gear, even though i am not a rider i can confirm normal jeans arent gonna be helpful, playing sports on all weather in jeans and sliding to hit base can easily shred the jeans at the knees so i wouldn’t expect them to put up much of a fight in a situation where you come off the bike but great video and really like the visual demonstrations instead of just the average do’s and do not’s Comment from : TheMadPenguin |
I ride around that bit as well normally empty Comment from : Jay Thomas |
