Re: Oatmeal!brbrI recommend a wartime recipe I recently discovered called brMock Brains (I know, eww) brbut the recipe is great, cheap, versatile and popular with my familybrbrIt is a savory recipe using a basic ratio of:br1 Cup leftover oatmealbr1 Egg br1 medium onion, finely mincedbrbrAdd whatever other veg you want (leftovers work well) and various seasoning of you choice, mixes like curry or seasoned salt work well brbrForm into patties, adding flour by the tablespoon for a sticky dough, and fry in oil of choice (bacon grease and olive oil are nice) The crispy, savory patties can be served over greens, or as a sandwich, or with sauce and sidesbrYum! One thing my family has done for generations (I learned different techniques from my mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother) is learn the basics of sewing Similar to talking care of you car is taking care of your clothes If you can repair a seam, hem, and sew on buttons, you can extend the life of your clothes considerably If you can sew on patches, and fix holes, you older clothes can be worn as work clothes and save the good clothes for times you need them Not that anyone needs to look sloppy—quite the opposite If you can mend your clothes, they will stay nicer longer Comment from : Abigail G |
