I save the first water that runs cold from the shower, and I use it for watering plants or in the wc This doesn't save money but saves a lot of water

As far as I'm aware new mascara is cheaper than eyedrops Plus eyedrops + old mascara will expire faster than new mascara, but it depends on what mascara you're using Mine are usually 2-3$ and I am able tho use them in time close to its expiration date

Well, I assume I have some tips : 1 No food leftovers- anything you have left in amount that is not enogh for 4 people- for example potatoes or rice- just put all you have on the pan, add egg or two, can add a tomato and/or some white onions and you have enough food for everyone; 2 I've paid attention that when cooking eggs on a pan people usually use 3-4-5 eggs per person, but just a boiled egg we eat only 1 or 2; Creams and moisturizers- when they almost finished, just cut the plastic and use them fully; 3 From the latest "frugal tips": I am a lucky person that has a hands for sewing and mendong clothes Just "saved" 2 pairs of skinny jeans by maling them wider (like boot cut) Wearing on of them today for work-so proud of myself!😅; 4 Someone wrote about recycling of a used printer cartridge for a discount in a local shop Not the same- but I've choosed to use a black laser printer, as in comparison to the inkjets that may dry when not used for some time and stop working Laser toner is dry by its "nature" You don't print for a week/month/year?- that's fine It will work after even a long periods of time; 5 Using printed paper on both sides -not only frugal, but also eco-logical; I think I might have more, but these tips came first to my head😊😊😊

Line drying is the norm outside the US It's not something people do to save money it's just common sense and driers are pretty destructive

wow that 'average' chart is way off in my case I am single and spend DOUBLE on the housing for a 1 bedroom apartment (maybe need to update that chart) I keep a very detailed budget Half that chart amount on food, also half or less on transportation since I do not have a car payment brbr Frugal tip: I use a "Thai Stick" for deodorant instead of the commercial spray or gooey stick It's a solid mineral block that you wet and 'roll' on No itching or irritation The last one I had lasted me SEVEN YEARS!! the only reason it didn't last longer is because I dropped it and it broke into pieces Regular deodorant makes me itch like crazy

This summer the concrete sidewalks have been too hot for my dogs paws and she won't have those 'doggie' shoesSo I folded a bath towel in quarters and put it behind her favorite chairI use a beige towel so I can see when it needs to be changed, and I put a rubber bath mat under itAt first her um "aim" wasn't so perfectbut now she's figured it outWhen it cools off,we' ll start ur walks again
Comment from : Jan Barrett

Ashley Quinsay
Find yourself a hair dresser friend and have them buy you their recommended shampoo and conditioner in the liters sizes brHair dressers have access to wholesale salon grade products It will seem a little expensive upfront but the liter sizes will last you all YEAR Plus bc it’s salon grade you only need a tiny amount to do the job, bc they aren’t watered down like drugstore products

A beauty tip i got that is kind of common sense but not a lot of people brdo it if you want to paint your nails first learn to paint your nails at home! You can save so much money with just painting them yourself! (If you need to learn how to paint your nails try looking on youtube) And second if you have one buy your nail polish and nail care stuff from the dollar treebrAnother one is (if you a willing to) also buy makeup from the dollar tree brAnd a school supplies is to also buy things like glue, mechanical pencils, paper ect from either the dollar tree or places like that because they still work just they are cheaper
Comment from : It’s Opal

I used distilled water to dilute my body lotion and shampoo Before I was getting rid these products and wasting money Thank you for your tips

Lyras Stitchery
I have a 2 car household Public transit sucks here But I work from home So my car does not get a lot of use especially in summer when my son is not in school brbrIf you work from home call your car insurance They reduced my car insurance after I told them I work from home I am also saving on gas, maintenance, and wear and tear on my car since it is being used a lot less I drive my car about 3 days a week in the summer

Amazing video, A friend of mine referred me to a financial adviser sometime ago and we got talking about investment and money I started investing with $120k and in the first 2 months , my portfolio was reading $274,800 Crazy right!, I decided to reinvest my profit and gets more interesting For over a year we have been working together making consistent profit just bought my second home 2 weeks ago and care for my family
Comment from : Charlotte Elizabeth

LOUISE EVANS
Great advice, though sadly I can’t don2nd hand clothing anymore because the majority of people use dryer sheets Once I hit my 40’s scented clothing was out- I’ve tried vinegar soaks, baking soda- everything I could find on the internet, even sun Nothing works… 🫤 I miss thrift store shopping- that was my jam until dryer sheets killed it Sigh
Comment from : LOUISE EVANS

Marion Osmond
Pay for things outright rather than going on monthly plans - such as insurances, registrations, mobile phones Paying those things upfront for the year is so much cheaper in the long run And never take out a loan for a depreciating asset such as a car (unless there is some kind of tax benefit if you’re self employed)
Comment from : Marion Osmond

Gifttanz
I had to become quite frugal due the energy crisis in my country winter just past, so to keep the kitchen a bit warmer, after I'm done cooking I leave the oven door open to warm the room, also get my parents to save the hedge clippings for kindling for winter I also got an old shed from a nieghbour for burning to keep warmer in winter without spending more on prepared logs :D
Comment from : Gifttanz

I always grocery shop with a set amt of bcash/b so it forces me to not buy whatever I want!

Last yr I switched to only cold tea with meals…I use those little stevia packets my coworkers get too many of with their coffee shop coffee or clear fruit juice from canned fruit juice to brighten it upsteep a lemon you squeezed for some other use…you get the idea…Walmart tea is cheap and goes a long way I make it sun style ( if I am going to steep a lemon or orange…I just take some water that I am heating anyway…think water for pasta…before adding the pasta…or microwave a cup) no more soda or juice or glasses of milk in my house…just one cheap tip of many I have incorporated

Contact solution and eye drops are not exactly the same thing, and I would not recommend extending the lifespan of mascara or anything that goes near your eyes I also think you should remove that tip as you could be liable for someone's eye issues if they cite your advice
Comment from : Bunnylove314

Anna
my frugual tip: buy shoes from companies that accept an exchange or return if they're worn out quicker than 2 years For example Adidas and Nike in Germany I always wear the same pair of shoes and after 1 year they're always worn out so I get a free new pair 👍🏼

Using self-made beauty products (scrubs, creams, masks) won't help you to save money You will spend it on dermatologists 🙄

My favorite hack for plastic bottles brIs to put it facing down in a bag and spin it around It will literally drag the product down to the cap There's a word for it in physics that I don't know

Be very careful about "making your mascara live longer" and things like that about cosmetics They need to be thrown a certain time limit after use for a reason Unless you are a drag queen making shows everyday twice a day, chance are you will never see the bottom of your lipstick or mascara before it expires Do your health a favor and throw it away brbrFor detegent and soap, a lot of things can be cleaned with simply white vineager and sodium bicarbonate and dishsoap Avoid liquid soap, it's mostly water anyway, use bar soap whenever possible
Comment from : Zèbracorne

Lori Russell
I clean my face with baking soda It absorbs oil and exfoliates, also, it only costs at most 80 cents
Comment from : Lori Russell

CareersbyJenn
My most frugal tip was switching from expensive face wash potions, to the Dr Bronner's Baby Soap bar It costs under $5, lasts for a really long time (I use it twice a day and it lasts nearly 18 months!), and it's mostly made of coconut oil My 56 year old skin is excellent, doesn't break out and isn't greasy or dry I do use a moisturizer after, but using the bar has saved a bundle and saves space and is easy to travel with :)
Comment from : CareersbyJenn

A Smith
I appreciate all your tips, but the car free is only speaking to people who live in cities, set up with an amazing public transportation I lived in a metropolitan city for 8 years, but even that public transportation was only for major roads & would take 3-4x as long to arrive at a destination with all the stops We now live in an extremely rural area & it takes 30-60 minutes driving 75mph to buy groceries, drop off donations, etc A better tip for many people would be to plan your trips for only one day a week or on the way home from work

"Living below your means" adjust your lifestyle, be frugal, budget, save and invest This helped me as a 6 figure earner I've grown over a million in retirement savings with this method
Comment from : Bashir Auwal

S Belcher
Yikes! NEVER add to or doctor any product used in or around your eyes! The risk of eye infection and/or damage is not worth the possible savings If your mascara is dried out, it’s a sign that it’s aged well past the safe product datebrbrAlso, why wait to “fart” mode to thin bath products? Buy in bulk (or even regular size), decant to smaller container and thin it out there You can find your perfect (repeatable!) ratio and save significantly more over time Use this savings to pay for fresh eye products! 🤣
Comment from : S Belcher

Shelly Giles
Hi, great tips One of my frugal tips is to cut any tubed product in half when I think it's empty I honestly can get another week or so out of the product I put a sandwich plastic baggie over each now new top so they won't dry out 😊
Comment from : Shelly Giles

Frames To Mind
people now say minimalism was never worth it and is a hoax that feel good at fist but is not practical and not realistic and it did not change their lives at all I do not know, maybe I should just give it up things lie everywhere and seem to fill up even if one clean out and spring clean, a month later is all a mess again my god this was not easy to change in life just a heck of bad routines I cannot change as far as I tried now

I think it also pays to buy high quality items that last a lifetime or 20 to 30 years Chinese garbage that lasts 6 months to a year is not going to cut it Borrow items that you need for 2 or 3 years like a baby carriage
Comment from : FRANK CUTRONI

JddB229
I've been cutting my husband's hair for the last 6 years, my son's for his entire life (he's almost 6) and my own hair for the past 4 years and I just started cutting my 3 year old daughter's hair too No hair salons for us! In the spring and summer I cut everyone's hair except for mine, out on our deck to keep the mess outside!

Ania
Hi there, love pretty much all the tips here Though please be careful with extending mascara's shelf life as it does grow mold in the tube over time!! mascara and eyeliners should be tossed out and replaced every three months or as specified by the manufacturer

Regarding the meat reduction: best trick is to use meat but much less! I do so many dishes for 7 people with just 1 or 2 chicken breasts, for example 😉 add mushrooms, lentils, aubergine, courgette, beans to fill it up

I use small soaps from hotels or used soaps to do my laundry, I just bought a cheese grinder to make dust out of them and it works perfectly
Comment from : Sandrine Laborderie

loriegabidel
Noooooooo, do not try to extend the life of your mascara It may work, but eventually, you're going to end up with a nasty eye infection There's a reason you're supposed to replace it every 3 months There are good, inexpensive mascaras out there, and they can be made even cheaper with sales or couponsbrbrIf you love high-end mascara, buy the sample/travel sizes They will last you until it's time to replacebrbrSeriously, mascara is the perfect breeding ground for all kinds of stuff Spend the $5 per 3 months on some Essence Lash Princess Your eyes are worth it

I learned to cut my hair over the pandemic, I was going 6+ months in between cuts just because of how ridiculous it felt to be charged so much compared to men for my hair I do think hairdressers deserve competitive living wages, but all I would get was a dry cut with a water bottle to wet my hair, and I was still spending 40-50$ on average (including tip, and was worse when I was in the city) and didn't always like the results I bought decent mid-range priced straight shears and texturizing shears, and it's more than paid for itself in trips not spent to the hairdressers If you're afraid to cut your own hair, look up Brad Mondo (he's very energetic, but the tutorials on doing your hair and doing it well are good)

I love your tips they're great But you probably don't live in the south It's so hot and humid where I live it is completely miserable without air-conditioning But I do keep the air-conditioning on a higher temp than I'm comfortable with by using fans
Comment from : Debbie Hines

I picked up that amazing clothes rack after your recommendation on another video What do you do about your towels though? I line dried those once and they were so rough after It may be the material How do your towels feel after line drying them?
Comment from : Jennifer Floyd

Peppamomma
I love your videos However, I would advise against adding water to products When in formulation the preservatives isn't calculated for the dilution of your products This can greatly increase the risk of mold, bacteria, and fungi This is especially not a great idea for anything that goes around the eyes Please don't water down products :)
Comment from : Peppamomma

Michalina P
I wonder, why frugal tips are mostly recorded for US market Most of the tips are common thing in Poland For many years people didn't eat meat because it costs a lot Only on Sunday In socialist times people were doing everything by themselves and learn how to fix everything Buying was not a main national sport! Only now But older people remember And I was raised in such (poor?) family In Poland we almost yoke how american living turned out I don't mean your tips are bad but are not so extremely frugal For example: people buy shoes from lower price point and return them using their right to reclaim warranty and for those money they buy new pair They can do that, because cheap shoes do not last whole year and is certain that will brake in a year This is using the system to walk in shoes for free I don't like this tip, but many people does it Also: people go to the gym only for "free day" every week to different gym
Comment from : Michalina P

I disagree with you on eating plant based foods We are ketovore/carnivore family and that is the human species appropriate diet We eat less now so less grocery bills because we don’t eat carbs Meat and animal fat keeps you satiated for SO long that there is NO snacking in between meals and we only need to eat twice a day All old “meat is bad for you” talk is outdated Red meat has all the nutrients in itself that one needs People are thriving by eating this way, improving so many health conditions along the way I have no more migraines, no more inflammation, no more bloating, no more sugar cravings, my skin is much more clearer and I have no more brain fog (no afternoon slump I used to get from eating carbs) Never going back I used to eat so many veggies and never felt good, they never improved my health in any way Only fatty meat has

What I do:br1 Meal preppingbr2 Taking my own lunch and drinking water to workbr3 Bulk purchasing of long-shelf-life foods like rice, pasta, beans, etcbr4 Bulk purchasing of toiletries like soap, toilet paper, toothpaste, washing detergents,etcbr5 Geoarbitragebr6 Walking and public transportation or car-pooling with my colleaguesbr7 Reducing the quality of videos I watch online (if I can) to save on my internet data usagebr8 Investing in good quality (important) things to prevent unnecessary repair costs eg my work laptop Lord knows how much i spent on repairs on my old "third-hand" laptop as a student 😂🥲
Comment from : Ama Beebee

MagaloupXD
I buy my groceries at my local bio bulk store and they get new fruits and veggies every wednesday, thus they give 10 off on those on thuesday I go every thuesday to get "old" fruits and veggies and save hundreds of dollars a year by doing so, plus it helps cut on food wastebrI also stopped throwing away edible "non desirable" food parts such as starwberry leaves and kiwi skin Those are not only edible but actually very healthybrThe pyramid you talked about, I do that with food as I now consider meat, dairy and imports like chocolate not sustainable enough to eat everyday - both for my budget and the environnement - so I put those on top on my pyramid and I swear: they taste MUCH better now that I only get to eat them a few times a month!brThanks for reading ^u^
Comment from : MagaloupXD

Chaxbs
Thanks for the video! Be very careful with Nr 11! If you don't heat enough, it might enhance mold at home, which is VERY dangerous for your health AND will be costly in order to get rid of, too
