Kali
So, is it safe to say that there are subconscious and conscious levels of bonding? For example conversing with someone and bonding over shared interests etc would be a conscious level of bonding and the subconscious level would be any physiological changes like the heart rates and brain waves syncing up etc
Comment from : Kali

DOTK
I would just really love to see a conversation between Andrew and Rick Hansen

Ita Lico
I found out that I'm more extrovert than I thought, it's so surprising!
Comment from : Ita Lico

I really loved this episode I was wondering if fiction and storytelling may be used as a substitute for social bonding for individuals with lack of real social bonds A paper tt's mentioned in which people are socially isolated, but also cut from fiction; listening to this I thought of this common saying that books make company This would explain too why some writers have a compulsion to write

Aya Chan

For years I've been questioning myself why I tend to do well on interviews when the day before I socialized and played, and not when the day before I isolated myself (because I intend to do a full study on what would the interview is likely about) I've noted that I can connect with interviewer easier if previously I socialized, and I get annoyed/irritated with interviewer easier if previously I isolated I'm seeing this explanation on Tachykinin may be the big whybrbrPlease kindly confirm @Andrew Huberman

Sean Mcneme
This is a really interesting video In my early 20s after a number of failed relationships, I came to the realization that in order for me to develop feelings for someone and fall in love, there had to be 3 components present with a potential romantic partner There has to be a strong mental connection, where we can share stimulating conversation There has to be strong emotional connection And there has to be a strong physical attraction Mind, body, and heart have to be in harmony for me to feel the full depth of romantic connection I would say it parallels the idea that emotional empathy, cognitive empathy, and a shared physiological state all contribute to our connections

1:12:29 personal timestampbrbrbrI don't think I'm autistic but when I did look into that possibility one of the very few things that could make me think I am or qualify as autistic is the honesty So I should think about my relationship with honesty, about how I feel overall baseline happy all the time, and about possible autistic traits in me

Joey McNeill
If you are surrounded by jerks you will get even more stress and problems There are at least 300 things that I can think of than hanging out with those slope heads I can get distracted, irritate someone on the internet, or talk to my imaginary friend before I'll go on another misadventure But when you get old you can lean towards being done with it all, if you lived

I juste went trough a break-up and watching only the first minute of introduction hé already blew my mind by saying that WE have special neuronals pathways getting activated when someone breaks up with usbrbrThat's insane toi think about !brCould it mean that, for your brain, it's over when it's said : there cannot be any second chances if the brain already registrered that you broke UP ?

Julie Copen
Would greatly benefit from a podcast dedicated to toxic or even abusive relationships Consequences, what is happening neurologically, long term effects, breaking of these bonds/relationships brThis may not be the norm, but for those in, or helplessly watching a loved one in, a toxic relationship-knowledge could be life saving
Comment from : Julie Copen

Carl-Friedrich Welker
Great episode🙌🏻

Silvia Gemelli
I greatly benefited from this podcast!brThe social world (mine and other people’s) makes a lot more sense to me now with e the explanations of dopamine and oxitocyn levels, homeostasis as well as real definitions of introversion and aloneness!brI feel a lot more “normal” now since fewer interactions usually work for me 😊 brOn a separate note I would like to suggest a topic that’s rarely addressed and that is “sensitivity and the female hormones”brThank you 🙏 🙏 🙏
Comment from : Silvia Gemelli

ScottieMomma
Andrew, please could you provide a podcast about the current data on Autism Spectrum Disorder I would love to know what scientists currently believe are some of the root causes or mechanisms behind ASD in regards to the brain and neurological function I would venture to guess that there are differences in how autistic individuals experience social interaction on a chemical level I would love to hear your take on this topic!

When faced with betrayal from multiple close bonds, which causes lessened desire for new bonds, how do we move forward in a healthy way? Also, as betrayal feels traumatic, and may be, how does it affect the brain?

Please host Daniel Kahneman, I am a huge fanboy of the old man (annual readings of thinking fast and slow since 2016) Still, after going through your podcasts, I feel a lot of experimental evidence in Kahneman's work would have been done through brain imaging and understanding the neurology/biology and chemistry behind it My "that makes perfect sense" kind of moments

Hi Andrew, What you were saying about dopamine and introverts vs extroverts (more easily, quickly sated on a little dopamine vs needing more) would seem to me to also relate to oxytocin You didn’t go into that here but you mentioned people having? Or seeking? More oxytocin more social media interactions; etc I’d love to hear you explore that more As a person who loves social interaction but in specifically chosen, lower doses, I can tell you that my bonding reaction to my new grandson is astoundingly strong It’s gotta be connected to oxytocin I’m not that much a social stimulation seeker but I’d give my life for our little munchkin I have a massive sense of this bond and it seems it is quite special to him as well So- introverts and oxytocyn… ???

Dr Huberman, your conversational and humble presentation of research and discoveries on the neurobiology of social bonding is fascinating and helpful It would be great to have Father Mike Schmitz on to discuss prayer and bonding with God and others as sources of mental health, responsibility to others and oneself, and ways to make our world good and more beautiful God bless you and thank you so much for sharing your work

Two years of social isolation avoiding COVID I no longer seek social interactions but actively avoid them as I have a 7 probability of hospitalisation if I get COVID I’d rather stay alive Definitely became more introverted
Comment from : George

Zohar Elyada
I think the prism of looking at introvertion vs extroverstion in light of the social homeostasis is interesting, but incomplete You did not factor or relate to the issue of the QUALITY of interactions I think for introverts there is not only a need for less interaction, the need is also for deep and meaningful interaction, whereas extroverts can do fine and enjoy also some more superficial casual interactios I think the expectancy that one has for how nourishing and satisfying interactions will be will also affect how much they will seek social interactions in generalbrI would love to hear more about social connections on the podcast from more/different perspectives It's a very broad and fascinating subject
Comment from : Zohar Elyada
