The part about blinking is quite interesting, as it has the opposite effect for me If I try not to blink, or to blink less, I can easily fall into a sort of dissociation and lose my focus entirely Wonder if that's due to something? Comment from : Ivaylo Toskov |

Andrew My YouTube feed says this podcast occurred 2 years ago I'm writing a clarinet tutor cum memoire cum explaining and providing empirical scientific evidence to support my life-long conviction that serious high art music and music-making makes people better human beings Plasticity is, of course, the key You may already know that serious high art music-making utilizes more brain area than any other activity This means that both focus based plasticity and repetition are involved Free will doesn't exist, of course, but plasticity is the way forward, I believe I would love your input and I would dearly love to meet with you privately to discuss these things with you I suppose I should contact you through your office at Stanford In any case, I want to compliment and thank you for your excellent work My very best wishes Comment from : Mozartsbum Bums R Us |

In my recollection Hubel and Wiesel went a step further as described to define the critical period for ocular dominance in the visual cortex They found that reversing the eye occlusion would reverse the representation of the dominant eye only during the critical periodbrbrAn important take way from this excellent lecture is that no brain is exactly like another because our personal experiences are never identical Yet most of us accomplish to conform our behavior to widely accepted societal norms Plus ça change Comment from : Peter Melzer |

This may well be very useful regarding syndromes like fibromyalgia or chronic pain sufferers Its something I've been working for a while with some success Comment from : cdracos1 |

Late to the Huberman party, so apologies if this statement is self-evident to your viewers: none of this information is novel to us physical and occupational therapists who work with children with developmental or neuromuscular challenges We use a sensory-processing-based approach to therapy and it was pioneered by A Jean Ayres back in the 60s That said, it's good that this information continues to get out to the general public Comment from : Happy Traveller |

Hi Andrew, just started listening and started at the beginning I am on this one now and I had a question / integration of what you were saying, one thing you were sayingbrbrI was born with and we didn't start to correct my 'lazy eye' until I was 8 or 9 My right eye never 'corrected' and, unless I am focusing and pulling it in on purpose, is off to the sidebrbrWhen you mentioned bringing your eyes together, a little more than normal, to activate the visual part of increasing awareness and attention, it made me wonder if, because my eyes 90 of the time have a greater distance between them, if I can attribute a decreased amount of awareness and attention, in generalbrbrNot that I need that question answered, but it was certainly interesting, and I am experimenting with, for me, what doing eye exercises feel like, for 60 - 120 seconds before starting a learning session I don't quite know if I'll have the 'stamina' for a full 90 minute study session, and I know that whatever I can do is definitely better than nothingbrbrSo much gratitude for your work in the world through this podcast and what brought you to this level of passion and knowledge! Comment from : David Bundren |

@37:30 Wow, That’s so interesting I had an extreme experience fit this 4 years ago, I got laid off I don’t have green card By law, if I can’t find a job in 60 days, I have to leave I was 44 by that time I haven’t tried to find a job for 6 and half years I wanted to give up right away But my sister told me: “You still have chance You need to fight for your life” Somehow I didn’t give up But under that huge stress, (I can feel in my brain there’s some chemistry change, literally) In two weeks, when I study, I remembered most of thing I learn I finished big C++ Primer book(English is not my native language) My interviews were getting better At third week, I got second round interview with two jobs And later, one of them gave me the offer And I stayed From that time I have some feeling, stress is not a bad thing BTW, your podcast is so interesting and inspiring Thank you❤ Comment from : Jixuan Cheng |

That part about the birds (at around the 59-min mark) was hilarious and brilliant I was laughing my butt off Part of it was the comedic and enthusiastic way in which you explained it (including the gestures) but it was more like a big ah-ha moment, like some hidden knowledge was released from me - something I knew all along but had never made conscious It was like the way I laughed after doing a sensory deprivation tank for the first time, doing VR for the first time, first time on Space Mountain as a kid, after TRE exercises or a great massage, or after my first kiss It's like my whole perception of the world had changed, something physically opened up inside of me and I felt closer to reality, like some portal of understanding had opened up Great stuff! That bit belongs equally in both the classroom and on the comedy stage I live for these kinds of moments of learning, the ones that make you laugh out loud and smile like a child, as your perceptual maps are simultaneously quaking and shifting up above, reforming your understanding of yourself and the world Thank you for that Comment from : Michael Waite |

I feel like the statement that your neurons won't change after a seminar is kinda bazzare, considering that your memory shapes your actions, now that being permanent change is another story Comment from : T Ragan |

So what if you grew up very very near sighted and couldn’t afford glasses or contacts, but later in life got lasik surgery What happens to those “repurposed” parts of the brain? Do they revert to their “normal” roles or since it was after the age of 25 neuro-plasticity is harder to obtain? Comment from : Seth Casavant |

Interesting neuroscience I feel that one thing missing from the discussion is how diet impacts one's emotional and cognitive abilities to implement your protocols Extremes like military training methods don't have to be covered necessarily, but dietary intake for the average child or adult should be examined WRT impact on Learning Bouts Comment from : G |
