I had 3 interviews for a solution manager position and during each one of them, i was ask about salary expectations I gave them a range of my current compensation and, told them that i didn't have all the inputs that would allow me to come up with figure because i have an non-neglegeable social benefit package at my current job What i would like to know is, what is the rule of thumb in terms of percentage increase one should look for? I tried to negotiate salary and was shut down So I accepted the job and on the first day I let them know that I had changed my mind because the salary would not work for me They can go and spend all this money in hiring an onboarding, me and background checks and since they were too cheap to give me what I wanted I wasted their time and their money That's what they get Comment from : NJ Galactic |
|
I had a feeling They will offer me close to the low number of 84K This is internal job If I aim for minimum of 92K Should I ask higher number like 97K? Is that ok? They range this job 84k to 130 K? Comment from : Smart Investor 4627 |

It's unethical to negotiate salary for a job you aren't willing to take? Right, and the rest of this bs has nothing to do with ethics at all An employer who requires you negotiate to get paid fairly can FU(KING EAT IT! Comment from : Steve |
|
I always negotiate Typically, I only get a no and do not move on to a rebuttal from them (or counter offer) I think I may be on the cusp of a counter offer to my proposed higher salary Any other content I can listen in to if they offer a counter offer that is still extremely lower than what I suggested or how to move forward so I still feel more valued? I've heard I could ask about when would be the time I could renegotiate my salary or sign up bonus Comment from : Karen Brigitte Mejia |

Hi Jeff! What if the potential employer insists on getting your previous salary history document in order for them to use it as basis for their job offer otherwise, you'll only get the minimum (if without the doc) recommended salary Do you have tips on how to deal with that? Thanks! Comment from : Elmer Dy |

Hi Jeff I recently applied for a senior associate role at the Big 4 During the HR screening call, I was asked for expected salary for which I shared 66k brbrshe arranged for 1st interview with my hiring manager but bumped me up to Associate Manager (tagged the JD for Manager level) SA needs 3 years experience but I have 4 years brbrOn the job boards site, salary range for SA is 45k to 7 and Manager level is 6 to 11k Which seems on par with roles across the company and industry Once I get the offer, can I negotiate for a higher salary given that the initial number was for SA role?brbrIf so, how do I go about it? And what is a reasonable number? Comment from : Sharon Luv |

Why it doesnt work, as described in video:br1) there is often no space for negotiation - take it or leavebr2) in many companies job offer is approved from above, so if you start to negotiate- they have to re-approve first, and usually they dont wantbr3) there is always a candidate who will accept without negotiationbr4) just to get a job offer you have to walk through hell of hundreds of interviews, and through thousand of position descriptionsbr5) companies consider people who bargain from the beginning as "possibly toxic" in future and rather will choose other candidatebr6) you never know what company can give and what cannotbr7) you never know who are other candidatesbrbrSo, you can try to negotiate, but in 60-80 you either will accept existing offer, or will be refused Comment from : Alexey Barkanov |

Hi Jeff! Not salary related, but I think I may have asked too much when I negotiated my start date I asked if I could start almost one month later 'cause of the 3-week notice period at my current job and I wanted to take 2 weeks off in between transitions, which I mentioned during the screening My potential employer said he would ask the team and get back to me Should I send a follow-up email saying I can work earlier if needed or wait for him to get back to me? I worry that I asked for too much and would lose the offer Thanks for your advice! Comment from : Leonhart407 |

I’ve been in my current company for six years and recently became licensed I applied for a transfer in my company and they offered me the position but with the lowest base pay possibly This was the first time that I’ve negotiated a salary Sometimes we don’t realize our worth and may put our own values and needs to the side for others I’m waiting to hear back about whether my offer was accepted! 🤞🏾 Comment from : Nesh Nesh Nesha |

Thank you Jeff for the great content😊brI decided to watch this video because I work in tech and just recently, for the 4th time in my life I got my offer rescinded (all from startups) when I brought up negotiation after the verbal offerbrbrI've done a good amount of research on negotiation online yet this has happened 4 times already; your technique is exactly what I've been using - remain polite and professional, 1 give them a range I had in mind and how we can close the gap (I usually ask for about 1 increase for the fear of getting the offer taken away) 2 If no ask for a sign on bonusbrbrAt this point I usually get my offer rescinded I wonder if this is because I'm interviewing for startups as I've never had this issue with bigger tech companies I also wonder if this is their negotiation strategy of the company as 1 of the 4 companies decided to extend me the offer again after they rescinded the offer and I let them know I can take the original offer I'm a woman in tech and after the 4th time it's been traumatizing to get my jobs taken away This makes me want to never negotiate ever again in my life and just accept the first offer 😔 Comment from : johns |
|
I exit the video due to the high and disturbing music in it, i think you gotta remove it, so we can concentrate in your content Comment from : Abdou |
