There are trillions and trillions of dollars out there yet in this country for some reason people by the millions have their rent paid by social services and have their food paid for by stamps or snap Tell me Mr Ramsey, why should these shameful things be occuring?

My husband and I got placed on the exact opposite shifts for work so we are never off on the same days This has saved us a lot of money on food because one of us is always home to cook dinner Not gonna lie, we do eat out every once in a while but it’s not very often
Comment from : Jennifer Molina

Gabe New
I wonder if Mr Ramsey had to do that? There is one thing for sure the almighty dollar is worshiped like a God just look at Trump
Comment from : Gabe New

William Clark
Personally, I like living a more simple life I used to buy so much stuff: clothes, CD's, DVD's, books I now go with a classic capsule wardrobe and for all the other stuff I can utilize the free library I now workout at home and my plants have become my entertainment
Comment from : William Clark

Vincent Datuin
Managing money is different from accumulating wealth, and the lack of investment education in schools may explain why people struggle to maintain their financial gains The examples you provided are relevant, and I personally benefited from the market crisis, as I embrace challenging times while others tend to avoid them Well, at least my advisor does too, jokingly
Comment from : Vincent Datuin

In my area, a small, one bedroom, unfurnished apartment with no utilities included starts at $1500 / month ($18,000 per year) You've already exceeded that $14,580 per year budget and that doesn't include any other expenses at all This is beyond delusional

What Dave teaches is just pure common sense Society today have been tricked into believing they should live in a house they can't afford, drive cars they can't afford, go on vacations they can't afford and go to schools they can't afford If you intend on living a financially sound life, you have to cut the fat and live within your means
Comment from : divin dave

Living Cheap In America
I learned at a young age on my own Never heard of Dave until I was on track of where he advises to gobr I paid off debt, no mortgage, car, or credit card debtbr We cook daily and never eat out Not because of money or health, but because of taste and we automatically reap the other two benefitsbr My husband and I live comfortably on about 16,000 per year br Taxes, auto ins, food, the few clothes we buy etc And and few home/auto repairs when needed is all we need money forbr For fun we go to picnics at the park, go fishing, walks and country ridesbr No stress at allbrYou can get there We are low income and we're still able to do it, you can too

Walmart’s Great Value brand has carcinogens in them In California ost all the Great Value items have warning labels because of their laws to let the consumer know, while in other states like Oregon, they do not have to put these warning labels on Please don’t sacrifice your health for cheaper food Good food will keep you from mounting medical bills in the long run
Comment from : Tricia Knox

(7) Barriers to riches include vice (alcohol, gambling), eating out, brand-new automobiles, dependent adult children, materialistic partners, and being a consumer rather than an owner (investment/business ownership)Considering this, I feel under pressure to maximize my $424k in savings I am in severe need of advice on how to raise my yields
Comment from : Teresa Brickle

Credit Czar
I have a small mortgage (about 15 of my home value), the rate is 3, and it was a 15 year loan with now only 3 years left Makes no sense to pay it off while my savings are growing at a higher rate If that changes it may make sense to change course, but Dave Ramsey is not always right!
Comment from : Credit Czar

Zen Jenn
I use coupons, and shop at thrift stores and I make such figures Smart is smart ❤

I am debt free but when you retire you will have lots of expenses Groceries, utilities, taxes on both car and house Income taxes, car expenses, doctors, eye exam, dentist, house repairs, lawn mowing, on and on My bottom line is $18,000 I receive around $27,000 a year Not much left for emergencies Just be prepared for all your expenses even if you are debt free

If you do need clothes, check out places like Old Navy I've found clothes there on their sales racks for cheaper than a thrift store brbrAlso, in terms of "staycation" I don't really agree with that Yes, there are things to do in the community, but it can do so much good for the mind and body by doing a weekend getaway It doesn't have to be super expensivelook for deals, and maybe put some money aside for that, or maybe pool some money together with friends and family for that getaway

I'd love to invest in stocks after listening to a guy on a podcast talk about the importance of investing and how he made over $300k in few months of investing into stocks from $175k initial capital, somehow this video has helped shed light on some things but I'm confused about the current market volatility I'm new to this and I'm open to ideas

Himawa
I was able to live below $15000 in 2000, but I don't think it is possible in 2023 I was a college student in 2000 My rent was $400 a month and I had 2 house mates I know it went up to at least $800 and more a month If you can live with parents and pay small payment to them, it will be possible brbrI don't have any debt since 2009 I have a family now I follow most of what he says I am doing ok Saving 30 of my income My retirement fund is too far from enough I want my kid to go to college, but I will not save enough to cover all the cost My goal is somehow my kid to have no student loan debt or minimum debt brbrI believe money is not everything to enjoy and meaningful life There are a lot of temptation in life to upgrade my lifestyle, but I will keep going to live below my mean
Comment from : Himawa

Better Living on a Budget
So much good advice here IMO, the #1 item should be avoid eating out, which includes Door Dash, drive-throughs, to-go coffees, fountain drinks, gas stations snacks, etc I literally do not do any of that - not a single one of those things I cook at home, I take my lunches to work, and make my own coffee Not only does it save money, I have control over what I'm eating/drinking, and reduce germ exposure while I'm at it
Comment from : Better Living on a Budget

Dave, I take home 1645/month My rent is 1600 for 3 people My other bills, which are electric, water, etc Come to 800-1000-which my adult son pays We don't have any extras we spend on, nor do we have any money left The only way to do cheaper is to move to a he'll hole apartment in a crime neighborhood I am not in debt and I have a retirement fund I contribute to every single paycheck Hence the 1645 income for me So while we pay our bills every month, that's all we can do

If you live near an Aldi, return stray shopping carts Those quarters add up I have no problem walking across the parking lot to get a shopping cart or two or even three on a good day! I'm fortunate that I have financial security so at the end of the year, those quarters (plus a few extra dollars) get donated to the food bankbrbrGet at least one library card for free entertainment Libraries offer so much more than books Services vary so I have cards for my city and county library systems Between the two, cardholders can stream movies and music; download music; borrow DVDs; borrow a laptop and hotspot; and even check out a California State Parks Pass All this and more! If you're not near a library, some branches have a digital card You can apply online for access to ebooks plus online resources

I live on quite a bit less than 14k yearly My debt to date is $25k I'm on SNAP, use food pantrys, use Grocery Outlet, buy unbranded, and live in subsidized housing I stick to my budget, I carry high ins deductible and the best premium I can find If I have $40 leftover monthly I'm doing good Literally no monthly bill I can get rid of Any leftover goes into next month's income But the leftover stays steady, never seems to grow I can't find any way to save
