Broke people will do stupid things if you loan them money I just gave my friend a tiny interest free loan of $400 for my friend to get a tooth removed I gave her 7 months to pay me back She gets it removed for like $410 and after a while just stops talking to me She doesn't even bother to make back tiny payments back, or give me excuses Moral of the story is lending someone money very well might ruin a friendship

I feel the same way I typically don't loan money to people (people I know probably won't pay me back) because I don't want to resent anyone I'm in baby step 2, but I have a little money to give because I do a decent job keeping my money I just need to get these student loans payed off

I don't like asking family for money because I don't want to have that guilt hanging over my shoulders Whenever my aunt gave me money, I always made sure to pay her back as soon as I got paid My father use to ask for money from family and never paid it back, he kept reassuring them he would I didn't even know about how much money he borrowed until after he passed away

I've not been doing that great since my wife passed away, and I've had occasion to borrow from family I always paid it back as soon as I could I want family to know I will always pay back what I borrow, just in case I need to borrow againbrIn the workplace, I'll lend a person $5 for lunch and never mention it again It's a cheap and easy integrity test It can be fun when a non-payer comes back for another loan, insisting they did pay you The acting and histrionics are often very funny

my mom once told me that they never loaned out money to friends/family with an expectation of being repaid if the person paid them back, great if not, they never expected to get it back so it didn't change their relationship that always stuck with me

My brothers ex lady, my nephews mother asked me for $150 for my nephews school supplies in August 2021 It is now near February 2022 and she has been avoiding me At first she claimed she would pay me the weekend the weekend came and went and nothing I’ve reached out to her and nothing She is avoiding me at this point I do not know what to do I am even considering filing a small case claim and suing her over it It’s not fair I am backed up on bills and I do not know what to do at this point I cannot let het her way Help I have learned my lesson the hard way 🥺

I let an old coworker borrow $250 & never got that money back I didn’t think the person would not even mention the loan afterwards It’s like it never happened, so I learned my lesson but still the friendship was damaged because I don’t want to hear about that person or see their face Removed from social media etc I just can’t stand a person that would not pay back or even bring it up at all

My brother drained me with non stop money requests, until I yelled at him while mom also picked my side He didn't call me for the next eight months Up to that point he called me sweetly and stressed how he regretted how he always asked for money Right after the apology he just happened to need some money After giving him the money another incident of needing money followed up And that's where I hung up during the second call Isn't it always fishy how their money problems are way too long and detailed They do that on purpose which will make you lose track of the story, because they don't have real money problems It takes a few words to utter what's going when you're really in trouble

This is so right on the "money" If you have the money, just GiVE IT TO THEM if you love/like them! I've been the receiver from well meaning loved ones or friend, and yes, it does change the relationship! Often, they have an underlying belief they now have power over you, whether they are "nice" or not Thank you educating people about this!
