So, I notice this you tuber makes about 1 video per week and it takes about 30+ hours to make a 20-40 minute video (final cut) That is just a basic rule of thumb for you tube some take a lot more and require a crew to produce and can be more than 200 man hours for 1 videobrHow much time does this leave for actual woodworking? brNot to mention buying the materials, marketing and selling the final products?brIf woodworking is so lucrative why is he making videos and not making wood products? Answer: he is making more monetizing the videos brMy conclusion is to make you tube videos and save yourself from buying a ton of equipment and pain from all those splinters Comment from : Pablo Bartelotte |

I know there are many variables as pertains to box pricing but what estimate would you give on the box in your video and also something more elaborate that may take a couple of 8-hour days to make? I had some boxes on display and was offered $2500 for the one I had the most time in I told her I wouldn't consider anything under $15000 for it and she was shocked I consider some of my boxes works of art and to be heirloom quality Comment from : in2rock |

The whole ETSY idea was a great concept until people started buying cheap chinese products and sell them dirt cheap and act like they made them I look at the project and I am a 30+ year woodworker/homebuilder and if I cannot build the same product as cheap as they have it priced I know its a cheap imitation wood worker but they sell them so what do you do????rPeace Comment from : Rich Rinehart |

316k viewsbr This means, realistically there's a potential 5,000 people now making boxes to sellbr And they're selling them in the same places you'll try to sell thembr This doesn't account for other people out there who've been making boxes to sell for a long time before you saw this video And big companies, especially some out of Chinabr Now the chances of people actually buying your boxes, have become similar to winning a lotterybr Good Luck Comment from : warthogA10 |

Don´t build small stuff that sells fast They usually give back horrible hourly rates The bigger the build, the higher the return per hour Build sth that costs money and it will sell quickly as well Plenty of customers out there willing to pay money for good woodworkingbrbrA cutting board gives a return of what, maybe $50/hr? A Victorian cabinet sells at around $800/hr OK, not everyone can build one, but even kitchen cabinets from solid wood return around $300/hr And that´s "just" milling wood and putting the together, just like a jewelry box, just bigger Comment from : bowlchamps37 |
