You can always teach yourself how to play guitar, and you can get quite good that way as long as you are consistent with it However, it’s always a good idea to eventually get a teacher or someone experienced in guitar to help you improve or fix some things

To some extent this can be helpful for maybe new guitar players but At the end of it all what brever works and is most comfortable for you should be what matters There is no wrong or right way to play, jimmy Hendrix plays the guitar upside down and he’s in the hall of fame or Jeff Healy plays with his hand over the fretboard instead of around both “incorrect “ ways of playing
