I want to learn guitar but my dad said i should learn acoustic before electric I truly don’t understand why since they are fairly similar and all the songs i want to play are electric I despise the sound of acoustic since it sounds too country- does anyone have any tips to convince him?

Honestly I want both you see acoustic for one song (the devil wears a suit and tie) but also a lot of just pick it up and start playing random songs for the mood or boredom but the electric because of AC/DC I’ve listened to a few songs and fell in love so I wanna listen album by album and play the songs that both challenge me and I won’t get tired of so I’m leaning toward electric but who knows

Obviously Electric Guitar is physically the most beginner friendly because the strings are under lower tension, easier action, & flatter body

i wanted to play electric but i was forced into acoustic amd while i love playing, i still doubt my parents decision they asked their friend who is a “musician” aka a guy who just plays guitar sometimes at the local pub i hope i get to start in a year or two
