Just found you and love all the points you make No streaming here, basic cable only, I buy groceries twice a month only and freeze a lot including quarts of milk For work, I always took my lunch and made my own coffee, filled a thermos and took that to work I use a regular coffee maker and not one of those fancy 1 cup deals that only create waste not to mention the price of those coffee makers When going to Starbucks or in my case, Tim Hortons, I'm in Canada, not only are you wasting money, but time whether or not you walk in or go thru a drive thru Going thru a drive thru you can add wasting gas to that list and building stress brbrI use the same cell phone till it can't be used at all I get used books and return them to the used book store for credit towards the next books I would use the library but sometimes I can't get thru a whole book in the time allotted because I am also a writer That $7440 dollars would get me 18 months of groceries brbrI use my credit card for everything possible What you say!? I pay it off as I go The money is in my bank account and I have a budget, and I never have a balance on the card I do this because I'm on a points award type of program with my card The more I use the card the more points I earn towards merchandise I can get for free with my points I've been able to get bed sheets, binoculars and a great cast iron frying pan just to name a few So my money works twice brbrI have a 13 column budget book and I add up the columns at the end of each month and carry over those totals to the next month I can look at each month and see not only what I spent that month, but what I've spent for the year up to that pointbrbr I only eat out twice a month (before going to the grocery store) and that's at a reasonably priced restaurant and not a fast food place I can take home what I don't eat from a regular restaurant I rent instead of owning my own home I do wish I could own my own place but where I live now is perfect for me and for my writing My rent is extremely reasonable, I don't have to shovel snow as that's included as is water and garbage pickup I live in an old A Frame cottage overlooking a small lake just outside of my small fishing hometown I do live way below my income and have a savings account

I think how to save money changes with different stages of life There was a time I couldn’t cook much because I was pregnant and had some terrible aversions I bought a lot of Costco rotisserie chickens, convenience meals, and a lot of fast food I really enjoyed the fast food, and got into a habit To break the habit I bought hamburger patties I could grill myself I don’t have to even have to buy those patties anymore, but for a season they helped me break the bad habit

I have been watching your videos for around 12 months (but only just subscribed oops) I have found your tips and tricks especially useful The one major change i have made is to do my grocery shopping online rather than visiting the store itself - i know you advised against this way in one of your videos however, with me if im in the store, i find i seem to buy things that were not on my list in the first place (my resistance willpower isn't good) Now, by doing my grocery shopping online, i don't see the rest of the shelves so all i buy now is what's on my list It is fact i have to pay for delivery but i choose the lowest cost delivery slot which is available In comparison, i used to spend around £120 per week on groceries in store but now it bounces between £90 - £100 now i shop online I have also quit smoking cigarettes (i did this on 25 February 2023) and switched to vaping I used to spend around £40 on rolling tobacco per week but since vaping i'm only spending on average of £40 per month on vaping juices and accessories Keep up the good work guys :)

I haven't had cable in well over a decade and I cut paid streaming services to save some $ on March 1, 20202we all know what happened right after thatI figured if I can live without the paid streaming during this timeI will be okay A fun fact in the USA: many libraries offer something called Kanopy which is a streaming service like Netflix that you can use by using your library cardit does limit how many movies you can watch but it's still a nice perk to the library
Comment from : littlesongbird1

I stumbled upon your channel and knew I had to watch this videobrI grew up this way and as a teenager resented my "cheap" parentsbrAs an adult I feel this was one of the best things my parents taught me brMy two sisters haven't embraced this lifestyle thoughbrI call it being fiscally responsible as I hate the term "cheap" or even "frugal"brI feel this common sense should be taught in our school systembrI love your chart which shows what you spend in a day, month and yearbrMy Dad had that drilled into us so now it's automatically how I thinkbrKeep up the awesome videos!
Comment from : Trisha Noel

I had a savings win this week, finally paid off the expensive cell phone and went back to a prepaid Saving $61/ month! You're right sometimes it doesn't seem much but that is food and supplies for our pets for 2 weeks! One of my goals is to be able to afford a decent replacement out of pocket when this one kicks the bucket
Comment from : Emily

Destiny Swing

In cutting down my expenses a few years ago, I stopped DISH TV and bought Firesticks for my TVs, a one time charge that runs from $2999 to $6999 - I went with $3999 stick Easy to install and NO MORE CABLE OR DISH charges, I pay less than $15 for TV with plethora of channels to watch AND with a Fire Stick an Amazon PRIME membership is required, which costs around $12-$15, which provides even more channels HOWEVER - all my Amazon purchases have NO shipping charge - DOUBLE BONUS! brAlso, a bought an antenna for my one TV that costs around $12, which picks up all the local channels and more plus they keep adding more channels Got my ION network with that, yippee!! Thank you both for sharing ideas and key things to consider - love it!!

I like being frugal and dept free is it really lets you be free, I can help my children if needed, or neighbors It's second nature to me now to wait and see if I really need an item, I use to shop if I was upset now I stay out of the stores I saved enough daily to get a better mixer I've wanted for years and it really saves me money as I make almost everything from scratch Thanks for the ideas I'm showing this to my daughter to help he learn to be more frugal
Comment from : Jobecki

My freezer started acting up last June I looked for sales, but often the stores didn't have the sale item in stock St Patrick's Day, I found a Whirlpool freezer, normally priced $1299 for $849 It wasn't energy star rated, but the label said it used $54 a year to operate I didn't think that was too bad
