The first thing anyone without kids should do with a "4 seater" 911 is remove the rear seats, fit a harness bar, some fixed back seats, harnesses, and hit the track Comment from : James |

I just wonder where all the cars in most people reviews where they find cars so cheap every time I find a car that’s supposed to be $20k is around $30k or if they say $30k it’s more like $40k Comment from : Joe Padilla |

I really wanted to watch this video but couldn’t make it 10 seconds with this guy’s annoying obnoxious voice Comment from : peter fancher |
I don't think the IMS bearing failure is 10 that seems very high brAnd although the PDK in the 9972 is easier to find, the first gen of that transmission wasn't great, much better than the tiptronic But they didn't get it really right until the 981 gen Comment from : Brian Johnson |
Looks really nice The shape is spot on However the 993 is still the most beautiful Porsche 911 and always will be Comment from : Kombalar 2112 |
Why do people on YouTube take beautiful cars and ruin em lmao, like it’s a sport or competition to just make a beautiful car ugly Comment from : Nathaniel Rivera |
Great vid and your absolutely right on a PDK over a 6 speed in a 9972 I have a 996 TT 6 speed, 87 coupe manual, and a 2009 Carrera S with a PDK I would not pick a 6 speed over the PDK for the 9972 It an incredible transmission to say the least and a completely different driving experience, a different type of engagement in the end I love them all!! Well I'm watching this video and its 2022 and I have a 07 Carrera 911 Cabriolet 4 it only has 22 thousand miles on it and a beautifully impressive burgundy color with tan interior like the one you have, I paid close to 50,000 Tough times to buy a used vehicle but when you know what you're looking for and you know the value of things, that's when you could possibly find something worth owning for a long time right now if I took this car and tried to sell it 3 States south of me I could probably make a clear $5,000 Comment from : Carlo Rizzo |
Oh hey, I can see this park from my office! Just discovered your channel today Good stuff man This and your 996 video spoke to me, as I'm in the market for a new AWD driver-focused car now that my '02 bug-eye is pushing 215k miles Comment from : Jaret |
that roof box is blasphemy! Everyone here is now dumber for having to look at it I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul Comment from : Oz101 |
Brad! you need to go more into details when you talk about 2006 IMS bearing it's not the same as 1999 to 2005 You are making it sound like they are all the same and that's not the case at all 2006 to 2008 is not even serviceable unless you split the case I spoke to a Porsche mechanic that's been working on these babies for over 20 years and he has only replaced 2 bearings on 2006 both times the car was tracked on a steady basis like your channel btw Comment from : JC |
Wish I would have known this a year ago These are going for high 30s now, and some in the 40s Comment from : Brandon Price |

Good luck finding a less than 30K now Comment from : Mad Femur Fast |
Not sure where you got that 10 engine failure rate from? For the IMS it's less than 1 IIRC, with pretty much zero of the larger updated IMS 2006 onwards Bore score is far more commonbrbrRegardless, I agree that the 997 is awesome, having had mine for nearly 2 years and just ticked over 20k miles in that time I honestly can't think what car next, and will likely enjoy it for years and years! Comment from : hensh911 |

I just got a 2010 Porsche Carrera 6MT for 48k Well maintained and clean carfax Is this good price? Love the car so far 7 previous owners and records show they maintained at the dealer Last owner had traded it in to get a Range Rover Just liked and subscribed Comment from : A Motorcycle Rider |
I'm the very happy original owner of a 2006 Carrera 4 (36 manual) with over 110,000 miles on it I agree with most of what you say and it was interesting to hear you say that the 38 has a higher IMS failure rate than the 36 However, I am not sure whether that LN engineering kit can be installed for $2,500 Pretty sure the 2006 36 has to be completely disassembled to install the LN bearing Comment from : Jim C |
Heads up, 05 cars need the IMS but the 06-08's are not IMS serviceable unless you open the engine Porsche did DOUBLE the IMS size for 06-08 (and they do not fall) cars PLUS, the 38 is a MUCH MUCH interesting proposition than the 36 And you do feel the difference Why stating such great facts but also neglecting the main difference ? You get better brakes and everything And Automatics are not the way to go on 911's specially 997's Comment from : Moyano Photography |
None better Comment from : John Morelli |

IMS Bearing was substantially improved in the 997, compared to the 996 Yes, it is still there but a much less worry Comment from : ROBERT DAVIS |
The IMS bearings on most 997 M97 engines post Feb/Mar of 2005 are the newer larger single row bearing and cannot be serviced easily, unlike the IMS bearings on early 2005 997s and 996s which you can replace easily with the LN solution However, those larger bearings are more robust and the failure rate is lower The bigger problem is bore scoring Due to the metallurgy of the cylinder linings, bore scoring is a problem more often found on 997s in cold weather climates Apparently when it is really cold the pistons no longer fit properly inside of the cylinder, so don’t start your 997s when its really cold This was also potentially exacerbated by some mid-western winter fuel blends that at idle was washing away the oiling So just be careful when shopping for a 9971, get the bores examined if possible I ultimately found an opted for a higher mileage 9972 (S with 6-speed manual) A high mileage 9972 is relatively close in price to a low mileage 9971 If equal in miles, the 9972 will be up to $20k more, but you get a more powerful (30hp in the S) direct injected engine without bore scoring or IMS issues and you get more modern infotainment electronics They didn’t make as many 9972s and manuals are more rare, but worth looking for Great cars either way! American tan interiors are awful end of !!! I'm glad I'm in uk where we get black ,black is the new black !!! Comment from : guinnesslover |
2006-2008 997 have the larger “non-replaceable” IMSB You have to split the case to install The IMS Solution It will cost a LOT more than $2500 for those cars Better to buy a 996 or 2005 997 and install the IMS Solution Comment from : TexSquirrel |
If you don’t mind me asking, what roof rack and cargo box is that? It looks absolutely amazing! Comment from : Biscuits_Stunts |

I bought an 06 Carrera Cabriolet from the 2nd owner in 2019 (full dealer records, 6 speed, & 96k miles) for $18,500 It was a daily driver that wasn’t owned by an enthusiast so door dings & mildly worn interior - but mechanically in great shape It’s been 18 mos of glorious ownership & the car has been utterly reliable This is my first Porsche & has converted me to Pcars The deals are out there, you just gotta be diligent & jump on good examples that are priced right Comment from : Chris Bodley |
