@oswig1768
Sorry, a Boxster has nothing on any 911, it’s what Tudor is to Rolex I watched a 981 get obliterated by a M135i on the motorway, it was very entertaining to say the least I also watched only a few weeks back a 982 attempt to go up against a GT-R R35 Facelift 2, didn’t stand a chance, the GT-R went well into the sunset

@oilyrag525
Errr, my 2002 MX5 NB vvt Sport, which I've owned from new, HAS a glovebox it also has an oil pressure gauge and, most importantly of all, an electric aerial It also has a very accessible engine bay The one thing though that would make it stand head and shoulders above other sports cars, if I allowed, would be the development of body and chassis rust
Comment from : @oilyrag525

@gordonmarshall7362
Greetings from Toronto My 2 bosses one in London when I worked there had a 911 and another in Toronto As a designer I personally think a boxster is way better looking I bought my 986 and 20 years later it still give me a smile every time I start it up

@paolovitale2661
Liked your comment about 911 owners saying about Boxster owners So so true Boeing a Boxster 2,7 Man owner myself I smile every time, I drive it ecxactly because of the simplicity of the car - it is pure and simple I smile at people, if they indicate, it is a pure man`s Porsche I don`t care - I have the money for a 911, but I choose a Boxster, because of the way, it drives
Comment from : @paolovitale2661

@fraserlawson6994
What an informative video and provides a lot of the background on these modern classics Now summer is around the corner it could be time!
Comment from : @fraserlawson6994

@Fulkerw
I bought an 05 987 boxster 27 last year as a first car when I was 17 I still have it and I still love it to bits It’s now become my daily as the jcw mini I had as the daily before now inevitably spends half of its time in the garage I don’t think mines had the ims baring done but I service it every 6-7k miles and it’s currently on 70k and I’ve had no issues whatsoever In terms of driving experience, the flat 6 is glorious in its sound and is so responsive when in the right gear at the right rpm Furthermore, it’s cornering ability and feedback from the wheel makes it so enjoyable on any back road Another positive is that it has been so reliable in the time that I’ve had it The only problem is the running costs in terms of fuel consumption and road tax, but I didn’t buy it to be economical nor drive it economically If anyone is unsure as to whether they should purchase one, you absolutely should the car has few drawbacks and is by far the best drivers car for the money
Comment from : @Fulkerw

@ebeing2955
986 looks better than this, though dated the finish on the 987 center controls chips very easily, nearly impossible to find one not chipped
Comment from : @ebeing2955

@thesilentgametestr3529
never been in a porsche, but id happily drive a boxster every day i wouldn't have a 911 unless its the old classic wide GT2 best looking in my opinion
Comment from : @thesilentgametestr3529

@unclebob4964
911……rich “generacs” ??brThe Boxster is a very nice car…but it takes balls to drive a 2006 Boxster and call 911 owners “Hobbiests” and “Rich Generacs”brMight you be a…jealous pretender ?brAaaah……that’s what I thoughtbrSave up, kid…you’ll get there……eventually
Comment from : @unclebob4964

@jeremyocampo1529
I daily my 986 (27L 5sp Manual)even on the snowdays (MUST HAVE WINTER TIRES NOT ALL SEASON Learned the hard way) I bought my 986 last year it was more of an impulsive purchase but I don't really regret it I got a very clean example for $7,500 and 123k miles in great shapes both mechanical and body wise I'm planning on selling the 986 this year and get a 987 Boxster or Cayman and have it as my daily too I'm thinking opting for the Audi A5 Quattro for the AWD for the snowy winters I get
Comment from : @jeremyocampo1529

@jaywalking89
Great review!
Comment from : @jaywalking89

@niksharratt4181
I know you suggested that the Boxster is not suitable as a daily driver but my drive to work is along roads similar to the ones you do your reviews on and I do about 12 miles each way on four days a week I'm considering a 2nd Generation Boxster or Cayman but would like your views on it
Comment from : @niksharratt4181

@stevehunter291
This video made me test drive a primo condition cobalt blue 2006 Boxster S with manual transmission I had never even sat in one before and have been looking for a late model Miata MX-5 RFT After driving this "old" boxster the Miata seemed tame and not nearly as fun to drive Thanks for this vid, much appreciated
Comment from : @stevehunter291

@def90cars
Nerd Fact Porsche number one was a mid engine Therefore a “Boxster” ancestor

@ccw5886
I have had two boxsters and three 911's over the years The Boxster was just the best to drive, the best at reliability and just the best handling The 911 is superb car for the purist or the budding Dhead but to be honest I agree, the Boxster does it all for so much less The issue that Porsche owners never admitno effer is ever going to let you in or out at a junction Get used to it and be extra polite and don't drive like a knob and yo'll be fine
Comment from : @ccw5886

@mikefairbank4908
Hellomy name is Mike and I have a 2008 987, 27 Porsche Boxster I really like the steering wheel (flat bottom & quite a bit thicker than mine) on that 2006 and was wondering wher I might pick one up!?
Comment from : @mikefairbank4908

@heyalenofficial
If my monthly income is $3000 and all my expenses are $1500 and I have a leftover of $1500 per month Is it a good idea to buy a used Porsche for $40,000? Let's say the monthly loan payment would be $500 How much would be repairs? Advice from owners??
Comment from : @heyalenofficial

@stevenfarrington2361
I worked as a detailer at a Porsche dealership for 3 years, your impersonation of 911 owners is spot on Always liked the Boxster especially the 981 with entry level 27 engine which was constantly overlooked The Boxster is a fantastic entry point into Porsche ownership and flatters the average driver but it doesn’t take long in a 911 to realise it’s a serious bill of kit which requires skill and experience to get the best out of
Comment from : @stevenfarrington2361

@richardweeds9566
I love the first gen!

@leewatkeys9065
Another great review Matt My daily driver auto Subaru Forester’s cam belt broke early Dec and still waiting for the repair to damage caused so have had to daily drive my 2009 manual 34S for the past 6 weeks and it is surprisingly good despite the ropey weather we’ve had 85,000 miles and tight as a drum, the build quality is immense Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Comment from : @leewatkeys9065

@mikemartenson4357
Very nice and honest vid I was looking at Boxsters but I already had a MX-5 GT ND, which I had professionally built Probably could have bought a Boxter and a Cayman for what I put into the MX-5 So I do have a Cayman S and love it If I want more power and go topless I can jump into my AC Cobra What can I say I love sports cars
Comment from : @mikemartenson4357

@jasonguthrie728
Love my 2006 9871 BS, going on year 2 with over 120k miles Not the fastest, but plenty fast Not the cheapest, but I like the idea of owning an iconic convertible porsche, long game like a 356 I wish there was a proper location for a subwoofer and more engine tuning options in California, otherwise, love it better than my NB Miata, AP2 S2000, GSLSE RX7, and Mark 6 GTI In 10 years, these will probably be the Porsche enthusiasts slept on Happy Motoring!
Comment from : @jasonguthrie728

@andrewdavis6226
Great review Matt I’ve had a couple of 911s but now have a 987 Boxster S - which I prefer, massively! Better handling, smaller, more luggage space Did the NC500 and a trip to Germany last year - what a car! This one is a keeper😊
Comment from : @andrewdavis6226

@michaelgustaffe5330

@tarekrahman6225
Got a 987 Cayman in April 2022 and I love it Get so many compliments as well
Comment from : @tarekrahman6225

@donkeyshot8472
a fun watch, with the dry humour and all one minor objection though: the 987 boxster looks nothing like the follow-up 981, the latter being a lot "racier", with its brdecidedly "leaner and meaner" features as far as "future classic" is concerned, my hunch is that the 987 will probably age more gracefully and duly hold up brlonger than the 981
Comment from : @donkeyshot8472

@minibus9
awesome video
Comment from : @minibus9

@grahamhill4164
Please please don't take this the wrong way but I didn't realise how beautifully "cutting" you can be 🤣🤣brbrNot in general, please don't think that! brYour referencing of the 911 "driver" is witty, cutting, on point and absolutely hilarious 😂 I was smiling like the "proverbial" Cheshire cat by the end of the vid 👍👍brAnd the "90 911 for 50 cost" line is absolutely epic!!brIf you were mat Armstrong, you should put that on a t-shirt 👍👍brbrPs no haters please!! I love mat too👍🤣
Comment from : @grahamhill4164

@skeelo69
looking at the number plate i thought it was a Diesel (DPF) 😂😂😂

Your reviews are so honest, and genuine No bull Excellent

@kenweller4179
For once I disagree I had a late 27 986 and it was just boring Too slow Handled well, but almost too well, ie boring It felt numb and dull to drive I thought I was alone in thinking that, but a friend of mine independently said the same thing A couple of years after I bought a second gen SLK350 with a manual box It was everything the Boxster wasn't Way better in almost every area
Comment from : @kenweller4179

@bobbyboy6397
After watching this video I’d definitely buy one 😊
Comment from : @bobbyboy6397

@jonathangwynne1917
I completely agree that the Boxster is a better car than the 911brbrHowever I disagree that it can't be a daily driver As long as you don't need more than two seats, you can absolutely drive it every day I did for four years 2010 Boxster) The only reason I sold it was to get an EV and because I couldn't afford a Taycan, I chose a Tesla Model 3 Performance brbrI still miss the Porsche on nice days
Comment from : @jonathangwynne1917

@brianbiggs8550
Why is the road tax so high? Is it the emissions/carbon footprint? It sure puts me off them
Comment from : @brianbiggs8550

@pistonburner6448
Why on earth would you not want to daily drive a Boxster or "a car like this" or drive them in different weather?? That's going to need an explanationit makes absolutely no sense brWho wouldn't rather drive a more special, fun car? What on earth does weather supposedly change? You think it's better to drive a Qashqai when the weather is not sunnyhow is that better?brbrI used to daily drive a 987 for yearswhy on earth would it not be good as a daily driver? Well, actually there are better daily drivers but not for the reasons I think you'll give, as I found in the end that much cheaper BMW sedans were more lively, feelsome and 'alert' to drive than the very dull, 'flat' feeling Porsche (at under 9/10ths)
Comment from : @pistonburner6448

@derekirwin804
I have to disagree with you regarding using it for a daily I have a Gen 2, 29 which I have used as my daily for over 3 years Averaging 12,000 miles per year I absolutely love I completely disagree with your comment about getting bored with it Strange statement to make about such a fantastic drivers car
Comment from : @derekirwin804

@SuperFredc
Any 911 owners watched this? I would like to hear your comments Or see them🤣

@surge88
Hi mate - I do about 300 miles a week but only over two days I've always had 2 seaters Brabus smart roadster coupe, mx5, bmw 645, audi tt etc etc What would you recommend? Don't want to go 'all grandad' but thinking of getting something more relaxed bear in mind I also have a q3 Any ideas for a better 2 seater cruiser? Or should I listen to the mrs and get a 'sensible car' like an allroad? Sub 10k and auto ideally do I need an sl? Great content btw 👌🏽

@qasimmir7117
I never used to like the Boxter but I have to admit you’ve swayed me a little I often find the ones that say ‘you only buy a Boxter because you can’t afford a 911’ are the types that can’t afford eitherbrI still prefer the Honda S2000 over this however
Comment from : @qasimmir7117

@GMJ674
Hi, Happy New Year to you! Been following your channel for a few years now and I was hoping you would do a video of this particular mk of the Porsche Boxster and this one did not disappoint 😊 The other half persuaded me to get an SUV last year and while I love it, as you say if it is a second car for the summer it works Thanks Matt!
Comment from : @GMJ674

Would love to hear your thoughts on the 981 Boxster

@Carrera-gp9od
We’ve got a 9872 with the 29 , great little car brThe mrs daily drives it , I’m with you though , I would do my head in using it everydaybrTax wise the 29 is only £300 and it’s got a 6 speed box
Comment from : @Carrera-gp9od

@richardshiggins704
Beautiful car though would possibly opt for the Cayman 29l
Comment from : @richardshiggins704

@BlackBuck777
Had the 986 and 987, both 27's Lovely cars, tremendous handling but lacking a little poke I'd certainly have another but don't really need one these daysbrIf there's anyone out there with a Silver 27 tiptronic with Alcantara seats (originally GX54LDC) - that was mine Had them retrimmed, made a huge differencebr(Your comment on the 911 is unfair - it's the aspirational target after a Boxster - and I loved my C4S Trouble was you just couldn't begin to explore the limits, and I did try once or twice!)
Comment from : @BlackBuck777

@katep973
"toasty bottom" - don't know why but that did make me giggle I found the steering too heavy for parking as a daily, definitely a good second car choice
Comment from : @katep973

@jakstrike1
Love my 29 9872 but going to have to sell due to new arrival
Comment from : @jakstrike1

@Stardust0467
Great practical video I daily an 11 year old MX5 NC which I was thinking of replacing with an early 718 Boxster Are they still not suitable for a daily 50 mile round trip into Manchester?

@mattvanders
Between me and my two mates we own a mk3 mx5, 1st gen boxer and mk2 tt vr6 (mine) We all picked what we did cause of different life requirements, all give each other stick for other’s choices but all agree that the older cars are just so much better than any newer car for a fun and rewarding because they are quick enough on an actual fun country lane road
