I did know that, did you know that most "tins" for food have a similar liner now? It's to prevent the acid of things like tomatoes from eating away at the tin That liner is why you shouldn't eat from any tin dented in a way that kinks the metal, as that leads to a perforation in the liner Cans with a shallow depression are usually fine (consumers discretion) but all cans dented on the seam of the lid or base are damaged Comment from : Jared Linder |

ALUMINIUM 🙄 Comment from : Dan Tuck |
|
I worked for the second largest can manufacturing company in the US for almost 10 years We made both beer and soft drink cans just like the one he is holding I can assure you that is not plastic After leaving the machine printing the label It enters an oven to dry the ink and varnish on the outside Once that happens if goes through a spray bank coating the inside with a coat of varnish to protect the inside from being contaimanting from the alumium From there it goes through another oven to dry the inside of the can Those ovens were 300+ degrees No plastic will withstand those tempertures What you are seeing is the residue left by the varnish For those that can read and understand the code, there is a set of numbers and letters on the can You can tell what company made it, the day it was made and the machine it was made on With that information you can even find out the person who was running the printer the day it was made That is necessary in the event something is found that creates a recall Comment from : Donald Sink |
