I was able to luck out and get a Lonestar Classic last weekend There is the gain, master and output knobs 10/50/100 watt options and tweed vs on Do you have any recommendations with the setting to get the most out of it at bedroom volumes? I have no neighbors and can crank it any time I want but my hearing would appreciate lower options I also got a volume pedal so I could play with running it in the effects loop Thanks Comment from : MySlyFly |

Great Budda! What do you think now for home amp - Deluxe reverb or Harley Benton 15? Comment from : ANDY MARSHAL |

I have 2 low wattage tube amps for home use: a VHT Special 6 Ultra combo (1/2 watt to 6 watts) and a 1 watt Blackstar HT-1R using the clean channel in light crunch gain, it has a headphones/recording out jack too They are both great with pedals I upgraded the tubes and speakers in both amps What you say about compression is important To me that makes it sound tubey and bluesy With the S6U I can use the ultra input and ultra gain knob or volume knob as a pseudo master Comment from : Steve Mavronis |

My situation is even more complicated! My wife works at home (permanently) so I am very restricted on my volume! I am looking for my first tube amp after a junky starter amp and want a tube to help a weak pickup I tried a BJ at a store last weekend and it seemed to me that it would take too much volume to get the sound from it If it had a headphone jack I would have bought it on the spot Great video! Comment from : BJ Thomas |

thank jesus for once a test with someone who got some groovebrI can't litteraly watch 90 of tests on internet because of players TT Comment from : Benito Banana |

Obrigado 😊 Comment from : Tomas Marques |
Ive been looking into the 20 watt sundragon amp for 4000$ the royal amps jpp15 1700$ and the supro black magick for 1600$ Comment from : ledzeppelinzoso |

Thanks for the informative demonstration, Mr Guedes! Do you know what volume you were playing at there? I currently have the situation that my 5 W tube combo is a bit too loud for home use Comment from : Oleg A |
this is a great vid!!! i know people who swear on 50+watt amps that can´t be properly turned up even at a gig i have a Blackheart Handsome devil, 15/7w, and a Blackstar 20w i mostly use the Blackheart in 7w with some overdrive in front of it works like a charm Comment from : hribc78 |

I'll tell you the same thing I tell everyone with a Blues Jr, or for that matter, most newer made Fender amps, Budda: Get the Fromel mod kit and have it installed, or DIY it if you're able, mate The Fromel's aren't really mods as such, but improvements these amps dearly needed Also, these are known for having cold solder joints, so go over those toobrbrAlso, I use an Egnater Rebel 20, and that Monoprice 15 we talked about in the other video comments I'm gonna build a 5 watt Trinity Triton soon, and that might be a game changer At least I'm counting on it Comment from : Albie Phukt |
I have the tone master deluxe reverb and it’s great stand alone but it gets really loud when using gain pedals at low volume Impossible to make gain pedals that need volume to sound good and still have unity gain Comment from : Richard Walley |
thanks for the videos they're pretty cool the last video I watched of yours was the Harley Benton 15 and it seems to me that you have influenced or influenced by Johnny Winter am I right? I mean you play just like them and I could have closed my eyes and imagined that Johnny Winter was like my favorite guitarist for most my life since I first heard of still alive and well album and that was in 72 when I was a kid and I wanted so much his guitars in the front of the cover he's holding his firebird it took me like two and a half decades but I finally got one but I don't sound to play anything like him LOL and I didn't expect to I know that it's all in the hands I ain't no Johnny went to anyway you sound great and thank you for the videos sincerely yours, Bob the blind bedroom guitars if some of this doesn't make sense there is just no punctuation I'm using speech to text which has its own take on the English language and how it's spelled yeah I'm severely legally blind everyone stay safe Comment from : Bob the blind bedroom guitarist guitarist |

Comment from : João Fernandes |

Brilliant way to rephrase the typical questionI like how you explored how to use an amp you like (suggesting regardless of wattage, to an extent) for home use Comment from : Mike Schouten |
Wow Finally there is explanation for why my home recorded guitar messes up the mix I always looked for the bass and hated mids and highs because I am almost exclusively playing at home Comment from : Valer K |

Any comments on the 57' Champ Reissue? I wanted one but I have a feeling - as you point out in this video, with no master volume that 5 watts is going to be loud Plus they are expensive and there are alternatives on the market Haven't seen any complaints about it though and it sounds good to me in reviews I moved my Blues Jr After the Gold Rush (which really just means a Greenback speaker) to a larger room and the acoustics are much better I also have an amp in a box pedal that I dial in my EQ with and dirty tones, so it mixes well Still loud but it works Comment from : GuyNarnarian |

Excellent Comment from : JON Gergeceff |

Did you buy that Blues Junior in that cabinet? Never seen that before - looks great Comment from : GuyNarnarian |

Thank you for explaining the differences between using an amp at home vs a studio or larger place I've been watching so many YouTube videos about amps because I'm just starting out and I'm not confident or good enough yet to go to a guitar store to try out different amps Im learning on a very cheap modeling amp that sounds really bad but it makes noise so I can at least practice I want a tube amp but I only play at home and need a low watt option You are the first person I've seen who took the time to explain how compression works or doesn't work at different volume and power levels I really learned a lot from this video Comment from : JPreston |
I want to buy a blues junior Should i go for the tweed version or the normal one Comment from : martinus19 |
My main amp right now is a 20 Watt Marshall Origin model, thanks to the attenuator I can really drive out the amp and get the sound I want to, even with my 2x12 cab Comment from : Esteban B Reyes |
Budda, this video was really interesting and very informative You make an excellent point about acoustics and home use which I didn't consider before I came across your video whilst trying to figure out what valve amp to buy for home use I have just had my fender strat refurbed and haven't played it for 10 years! I have neighbours and also a baby so I'm looking for an amp which will sound good and won't get me into trouble! :) The style of blues you play is what I love Any tips on which amps I should consider?? I was thinking something in the 5watt range or less Also, what are your thoughts about 1 watt tube amps I've seen mixed reviews about those Thanks Keep up the awesome vids Comment from : Adam |

You are the man budda! Comment from : Msmsmsmsms |
Hi Budda! Just another simple but important information, for this setup to work the fat switch must be ON all the time, if turned OFF the amp gets almoust no drive at all and sounds very thin Comment from : Eduardo_Zero Bala |
You talk a lot about your Class 5 :)brBought one to play home not a good decisionbrI try to set it low volume, but it begs to be cranked upbrAny advice on playing home volume on it, since it has no Master Volume knob?brAfter that I bought a Valve Junior combo (volume knob only) , it's too loud past 8-9 oclockbrWould an EQ pedal do something for it?brI lower the volume on the guitar so I can use them both but I still feel like I can't get what I look for in a tube amp at home (apartment) use volume levelsbrThey both feel kind of dull a low volumebrI really regret selling my cube 30x for home playing purpuse Comment from : andrer999 |
Superb video thanks, already decided I want a blues JR IV to but but som chap has told me categorically to not get one as it’s a one tone ponyand instead get a super champ x2it’s £150 cheaper but is it just as good as a blues junior? Any experience with a super champ x2? Listened to a few reviews and some great tones out of it but not sure it can replicate the same tones as a blues junior hard to tell when you’re just listening via YouTube and not actually being able to play with them yourselfany advice as you clearly know what you’re taking about Cheers Comment from : Chris Penny |
Maaaaan you've just opened my eyes, I never dared to use knobs like that, thought it wouldn't make sense, but it just did Thanks a lot! Comment from : Urrry |

How about; the best amp NOT for home use 💀 Comment from : Em B |

Allright! Boas dicas Descobri o canal à pouco tempo, boa onda, bons conselhos, e grandes sons! Thank Man New Subscriber here ,yeah i learn a lot today from you about the BJ i will try your settings on my living room thanks Comment from : Edgardo Parales |

Nice video - you are right: the best amp for you is the one that inspires you the most For me, right now, I am finding the blackface Fender sound does it I have a large room for my home studio 12-foot ceiling, carpeted floor I have a Princeton Reverb reissue that I have in a Mojo Tone pine cabinet with a Weber 10F150, next to a Deluxe Reverb Reissue and a Twin Reverb Reissue, both also with Weber speakers Since the room is large, I can play each around 4-5 without it being deafening Of the three, the Princeton has the best compression, the Twin is the cleanest (duh!), but the Deluxe is a nice intermediate clean with some breakup I have nice pedals but very seldom use them Just a little spring reverb and, occasionally, amp tremolo Never seem to get tired of these amps I play mostly my American strats, but I also play my Les Paul and Jazzmaster Quite a variety of sounds! Comment from : Michael Mackey |
ive never seen a blues junior look like thatyea its nice but how can i build a cab like this? sounds good thothanks anywayill stick with my old champ Comment from : im annonymous |
Hey stumbled on your channel and found it informative, I use a Mesa Boogie Mark III for most of my practice and performance needs Never lets me down Also could you tell me what the progression is at around 1:25 in your video, level is just low enough that I can't make it out Thanks! Comment from : Mark Wood |
Wouldn't you use an attenuator? Comment from : 100streamliner |
Right now I'm using a princeton custom 68 with bass and treble at 10 with a boss bd2 into a mad professor superblack for getting good breakup and overdriven sounds at very low volume (volume at 1) Comment from : Pedro Alípio |
Super Happy with my 65 Fender Princeton Reverb Reissue Also love the Mesa Rectoverb 25, Carr, Suhr I like playing Spanky-Clean - with pedals for drive Comment from : Michael Caz |
I use a 75 Princeton Reverb in a custom cherry cab, or if I want lower volume I can use my 67 Vibro Champ I get pretty good tone I think Use a variety of pedals such as Lovepedals Amp 11, wampler euphoria, pigtronix philosophers tone Germanium micro gold for dirt and compression Comment from : Art Prince |
What is the name of the song the video open with? Comment from : mraycgz |
