I really like Magic Amplification by Mike Moody He makes really great amps They're not cheap, but I don't think cheap is an option when you're buying a handmade tube amp made from top-quality components I recently bought one of his discontinued models, the Z1-V4 (a modified Supro circuit with a pair of 6V6's), and it's the best amp I've ever owned Comment from : Schlumbucket Returns |

The Astro Rocket is very impressive But I'd probably go for a Matamp (Matamp made the Orange amps of the 70's) Built to the highest hi-fi standards (which other manufacturer allows individual biasing of tubes?) using over-specced components, and each is built by hand in a small workshop in the UK Matamps have astonishing clarity and fidelity (which can be a big disadvantage if your playing technique is sloppy) They'll build one to customer specifications, and for less money than you'd think Well worth checking out I'd love to hear a master guitarist like Johan put one through its paces Comment from : FangPaw |
