I have an array of recipes from scratch Simple but tasteful cooking with minimal ingredients that you always keep on hand is actually the best tasting foodswe grow a garden every year and we increase in what we grow and out garden size each yr We also hunt We can, dehydrate and freeze our harvest We shop only for staples we use regularly but get them at their cheapest prices If we eat out, which is minimal, we use coupons or meal deals I clean with vinegar and baking soda We use cloth napkins, infact just found 8ct pack if very good quality for 99 cents per 8 ct pk, I got 4 pks and they was in fall colors which is perfect for me I prefer to shop sales, clearances, thrift stores, yard/garage sales and such Very few things I will only purchase new, but not at full price I keep pantry and freezers stocked, we do eat them down each yr and restock before winter (eat oldest before newer) Taught myself to sew, garden, and preserve foods brbrWe are relocating 12 hrs away next yr We are currently in the process of selling off as much unneeded stuff as possible Doung this cuts the cost of having to move so much, also by selling it this will help pay down more off our current debt , and helps us get to a more minimal lifestyle that I prefer ( was married 4 yrs ago and combined 2 very full houses into one) Also by relocating, it cuts the cost of us traveling to see family 2-3 tines a yr qhich cost us about $1000-$2000 each time we travel to see my kids and grand babies (so happy to be moving back home near them) I would love to get back to line drying clothes, which has not been possible whete we currently live We just xhanged cell phone plans to a cheaper service and no contracts We are fixing to get rid of our land line to save a bit more We are currently getting our house ready to put up for sale After saling it, the plan is to pay reast of debt off and purchase a much smaller home for much less (currently ha e large 5 br 2 bath home that has livingroom and den, sewing room, huge laundry room) since it is just me and my husband and soon my mombrPlus we currently live in Maryland where cost of living a high and moving to Tennessee where cost if living is nuch lower Comment from : Tonya Norris |

Hi Lori, i have to say that I am very thankful for this helpful video on a better way of living My husband and I have been married only 6 months and our desire is to live in a godly, frugal and healthy manner making wise decisions and being content in everything We’re in our early 20’s so we still have a lot to learn and it’s not easy of course especially with online shopping, higher demands and materialism in our society today I oftentimes get wisdom from elders within our church and people like you that put out these videos faithfully! It really reaffirms my hope to being a homemaker and living out the purpose which The Lord has for us Grace and peace to you and your family!! 💛 Comment from : Kylani Morel |

The best money saving tip for us is not buying sodas, lots of snacking items, and disposable items Ofcourse if I can find something for cheaper than me making it homemade we get it but that's extremely rare We've also saved so much money on gifts that way I made some monster cookies and now that's the request for people for Christmas rather than "gifts" Comment from : Pandapoof 87 |

I love hanging my clothes out on the line (And in the winter I hang them on a rack in front of the wood stove) Not only does this save money over using the dryer, it helps your clothes last longer Dryers are very hard on clothing And no -- you don't need new cookware I'm using pots and pans I got for wedding gifts 44 years ago and they still work great Comment from : Cynthia Myers |
|
Great tips, Lori! Yes, I line-dry most of my clothes (but put towels and sheets in the dryer) Recently, I have been faithfully using a shopping list, meal planning, and "eating down the freezer" (reverse meal planning) Influencers are something our grandparents never had to deal with and yes - your cookware is great! Another tip would be to borrow items for special occasions - I have asked family members to borrow their water dispensers and coolers for an upcoming wedding (saving me from purchasing items and extras that I don't need) Comment from : Heather Burns |
|
I'm a mindful shopper I only buy food items I need I to no longer but convenient foods ( boxed mac & cheese, soups/sauces in a jar that kind of thing ) I make those foods from scratch I to am teaching myself to make some pastas from scratch, it's fun learning a new skill I to have recently learned that the freezer is my friend lol I now freeze everything Great video Comment from : Dawn Reynolds |

Thank you so much for this video! So many of these things we do as a family, but we can always improve In this age of big spending and feeling like we have to keep up I feel so much better knowing we are not alone Homeschooling has helped cut our spending as well It cost much less to invest in a quality curriculum and teach it at home than it does to send our children to school There are so many things that cost money in the public school system I didn't even realize it until we decided to homeschool our younger children Thanks again and have a great day!
