Scotty, would a 3rd gen ranger work good? If so, what is the best engine for it? The 23 Duratec, the 25 Pinto, the 30 Vulcan, the 40 OHV Cologne, or the 40 SOHC Cologne? Personally I'm leaning towards the 40 SOHC for the 0-60 numbers, but I don't want to walk into a laundry list of engine issues

I have an F250 with the 54 and it STRUGGLES to tow 10k lbs, BIG TIME, I wouldn't recommend that on hilly area

My advice to anybody even if you can afford a new truck by an older one recondition with all the main parts that you're going to need the main things cooling systems pumps radiator brakes shock absorbers and that truck is going to run at least another hundred thousand maybe even two hundred thousand miles more you're by a $3,000 truck or maybe a $4,000 truck you spend about $5,000 on reconditioning and it's going to last 10 years and not only have I done it I'm doing it again right now

I've got a 2007 4 cylinder Frontier with 262,000 miles I bought new I looked at the new Frontier truck made by Peugeot and I didn't like the cost of changing plugs or the weird grooves in the truck bed making cleaning it harder The old Frontier is great for fishing trips and I don't worry about leaving the truck on the side of the road while I hike to go fish It amazes me my 6 cylinder 10 speed F-150 gets the same 22 miles a gallon as my old Frontier Better believe I'm babying the Ford and keeping it in top condition The Frontier isn't pretty anymore, but it's doing the dirty work I don't want my big truck doing Friends often want me to sell my trash hauling Frontier and it's a hard decision to make unless I take Scotty's advice on an old sedan for my teenager to drive

Looks identicle to my 2003 Frontier 4x4 Manual shift I have 267,000 on it I have changed timing belt twice Still rollin One thing that surprises me is the wheel bearings are still doing fine

my car sometimes struggles doing a gear shift i think maybe 3rd or 4th this came after my car was leaking transmission fluid from a worn out radiator connection for months i was thinking it was coolent leakage the whole time so whats does it mean when your car struggles with a shift? it doesnt happen all the time like 2 twice a week or once but its very noticeable

I having trouble finding a place to replace the engine on my 2002 Frontier We just replaced all the suspension and brake components and that was quite the job The frame is in good shape and everything but the cruise control works so I think a new or newer engine will be worth it

i bought a 2000 tundra 47 v8 2wd, for $800 got a new frame put on it for free due to recall, and have done $1200 worth of of work BUT I HAD MY NEW FRAME PUT ON IN INDIANA but i did have a friend working at the toyota dealership im thinking about trading it in on a 4wd though

I had a '00 Frontier It had 80k miles when I bought it Manual transmission I sold many years later with about 180k miles I did a timing belt, plugs, wires, and had to do 2 water pumps Plus a radiator The knock sensors fail and are impossible to get to Anyway, it was a great truck otherwise I worked it hard Regarding rust, Scotty, I highly suggest a wire brush and some POR Works wonders
