I thought about getting something like this for a bit now This video makes me a bit more confident in that regard Never had a muzzleloader before so it would be a very new experience for me One thing I do know is you can mail order these directly to your door Comment from : @user-em1um3zs2d |
I use an inline and a side cap as well as a flintlock I enjoy muzzleloaders However here in WV we don't have a muzzleloader season until regular riffle and doe season is closed However, we are allowed to use muzzleloaders during Regular seasons Comment from : @birddog7492 |
I am 62 years old and I have that rifle and love hunting with it thanks for shooting it ❤ Comment from : @dougr2279 |
I am getting a muzzleloader for Christmas Comment from : @huntermfrench980 |
Love muzzle loaders, they are very powerful and you can use them both during rifle season and muzzle loader season One gun two seasons Comment from : @SpecialPenguinnn |
With only one shot, and how long it took to reload the old muzzle loading rifles of their day, it's no wonder why men like David Crockett were so proficient at huntingbrbrYou didn't hunt in those days you didn't eat And with only a one shot chance to bring down your prey, you better be a crack shot, otherwise you and your family would go hungrybrbrMuch respect to them boys Comment from : @thecowboy9698 |
Hunting no but target shooting with my deer stalker 50 cal yes fast to load very easy to clean Comment from : @The1saturn |
Got one of those cva v2 last year as my first muzzle loader and love it and it was a hard sell for me as i like the old stuff lol but the cva just feels perfect when you shoulder it Got a nice white tail first time out with it walkn the edge of a cornfield with my two boys Droped in its tracks at 180y But was weird huntn in a tshirt in Nova Scotia for deer Lol Comment from : @aaronsweeney1095 |

I got a magnum Kodiak45 in line muzzleloader and honestly I can't say anything bad about it shoots true every time an I use triple 7s powder or white hots 100-150 grain and a 265-300 grain bullet drops em everytime and I got a 3x9x40 edenburg scope nothing fancy but sighted it in for 200 yards and furthest I've had a deer go is 15 yards or drop em where they stand Comment from : @rooster72886 |
I'd love to have those Federal Bore Lok bullets I don't know if they quit making them or what, but they have not been available for a long time now anywhere Fine bullets No idea why they would stop making them By the way, those are not jacketed bullets They are solid copper, and they preform wonderfully They also make them, or did anyway, in solid lead Comment from : @ditchdigger93 |
And a year after my last comment I now own a CVA wolf, and an optima v2 LR with the Konas pro scope and coated stainless steel barrel that has been nitrated All three are good accurate muzzleloaders Comment from : @ditchdigger93 |

I wonder if cva should make an inline muzzleloader that looks traditional Comment from : @jimroberts9068 |
Might want to check out the Remington 700 UML muzzleloader It utilizes the bolt action from the model 700 and uses a shell casing for a primer instead of a cap Very unique muzzleloader Comment from : @spenceranderson1234 |
Love my Accura V2 with Bergara barrel! Never had anyone teach me the old traditional BP this is all I know and I love it! Comment from : @Tedlindsay7Pointerdog |
On Sunday we put our clocks back and on Tuesday we TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK! Comment from : @OMGWUNSIU |
Certain hunting seasons require you to use a muzzleloader rifle Thanks for the video 👍 Comment from : @poonhandler520 |
I thought a in-line was a bolt action type muzzloader that’s a break barrel what makes the difference or u can’t remove the breech plug on that one like newer model ones Comment from : @shawnhenderson1835 |
What load is best for your cva accura v2 Trying to find a load for mine Keep up with your videos Comment from : @davidsettle8456 |
That second shot hit faster after the shot Must have been a bit closer 😂 Comment from : @cha-ka8671 |
The season is reversed here in Maine It’s out late season gun Last chance to get a deer Worst time to use one but, typically we get some fresh snowfall which gives us an advantage to stalk deer Comment from : @cha-ka8671 |
I respect Hickocks videos and doesn’t get involved in politics in his videos!! Republican, Democrat what ever shoot, be safe have fun! Comment from : @chrisv73 |
This is like a mixture of a modern gun and a old gun Comment from : @sibbi-cw8yj |
I’m 16 and do loose powder I’ve never used powder pellets but loose powder is just more fun for me because I get to use my powder measure like the one Hickok has Comment from : @jacobstallcup8648 |
I think it makes you a better hunter with just one shot, you have to think tactically how you shoot bambi dead Comment from : @sh4969 |
I like the old rifles and yet I'm keen to see how a concept is taken as far as it possibly can using modern materials and ideas Comment from : @kieronbevan2949 |
What scope are you using in this video on your CVA Hickok? Comment from : @KTWOutdoors |
I’m actually strongly consider snagging one of these for the purpose of getting in the deer woods earlier for one and for beating the orange wave of rifle season in pa It’s really crowded hunting game lands up here in rifle season Got a freezer that needs filled every year! Comment from : @HoneyBeagle |
I do prefer the traditional type muzzloaders And I’ll get one Once they make a left handed cap lock or flintlock with a left side lock and left handed stock with a 1-28” or faster twist barrel to shoot heavy conicals I have no interest in shooting prb Round balls are for smoothbores So this doesn’t make me throw up I say use what you like Comment from : @vicv071122 |
My inline was made in Sweden in 1851 Comment from : @johnpublic168 |
Glad you did a review thes new inlines are alot better than I expected Comment from : @zanesnear4334 |
You should take a look at the buckhunter in line I think you'd like that one more and it's better in price range Comment from : @connor_mosteller8668 |
Never mind I found it I thought you were talking about the bolt action inline Comment from : @connor_mosteller8668 |

I didn’t think much of these kind of rifle until a buddy got one… by the time we got it sighted in, I was soldbrJust bought an optima V2 LR Gonna see how far it’ll shoot good!… Comment from : @dpete8995 |
I prefer the traditional loader with a cap It's always soo much fun to shoot round balls or or bullets like they used to 200yrs ago(without the inconsistent firing of flint and powder trap) Reloading and getting that load just perfect always feels special There's just something about firing 30 shots in an hour or so in the back yard Where a modern gun does that in a minute or two Modern is still fun but the ritual of old school loading will always be special in my book Never felt anything quite like it Comment from : @stompingpeak2043 |
you tokebr to mush Comment from : @kamdenbrunson6575 |
Ok He made it look amusing and fun that much, now I want it so bad Even although he never quite saying he doesn't like it Comment from : @edocega |
Just bought a 50, I'd love to have those bullets LOL! We're in tough times to find anything I bought a CVA Hunterbolt Magnum Don't think they make it anymore Got it in a Pawn Shop and I firmly believe it had never been fired Got a 45 and a 50 barrel with it Camo stock Very pretty rifle ( Just stupid cheap ) I couldn't believe the price I seriously doubt I paid for one of the barrels new Comment from : @ditchdigger93 |
Great video hickok!! Comment from : @chuckcanada4065 |
Is it just me or was he using the cleaning jag as an extension for packing the barrel? Comment from : @daniel3188 |
We're using the smokeless powder 209 there is a one that for black powder you'll be a better one than one your usual Comment from : @jamesendsley1560 |
For my CVA wolf I use regular black powder this loose not pellets I don't know but I prefer to use regular black powder at 75 grain Comment from : @jamesendsley1560 |
If you're going to use black powder you can use black powder in those modern inline musket Comment from : @jamesendsley1560 |
I like my CVA wolf break barrel inline black powder muzzleloader but we know you don't like modern muzzleloader Comment from : @jamesendsley1560 |
I killed my first deer with a percussion cap style muzzleloader when I was 12 years old That has been the only deer I’ve ever killed with muzzleloader At 33 I currently have a Thompson Center Encore Here in Ohio the muzzleloader season is the last season you come to (couple days at the end of the year) with the exception of archery which spans the whole deer season Comment from : @bradleywhite5941 |
Shooting that must be like eating kale Comment from : @jjjones8879 |
They now make an in line flint lock, so can we get a video review, lol, but seriously they do make one Comment from : @blackpowderfirearmenthusia3194 |
That is one of the most beautiful rifles I’ve seen come out in recent years Comment from : @harrisn3693 |
Enjoyed the review of the CVA Optima but did get tired of the negative comments about modern in-lines as opposed to traditional I shoot both and the older I get, the more the modern in-line appeals to me and my eyesight Comment from : @gregggibson3109 |
I’ve got an optima with a hammer action shotgun and an antique 3030 Comment from : @wraith_king2138 |
Hopefully one day, Australian politicians will relax and let us have our guns back brI like the idea of a muzzle loader They should be in the Olympic games This video was interesting , great to see the US have the modern day style of black powder too Comment from : @ericchilver9113 |
AIR ASSAULT!!! Comment from : @sgtrickards5683 |
You don't get out much do Ya' !! LOL Comment from : @steveandrews4822 |
Btw for everyone who wants to shoot caps and real BP they have a $20 breech plug you can get to run old school Comment from : @jonathangarzon2798 |
Thanks for the insights The ONLY reason for my interest is to hunt before deer go totally nocturnal in the normal season For older eyes, a scope is very helpful to keep hunting Comment from : @steves8014 |
Keep in mind that the $350 Optima and $250 Wolf (often discounted) are 90 the same firearm :) Comment from : @quentins5692 |
Ooo you're close to Charlotte Comment from : @SimonTekConley |
Hey Comment from : @rjptrucking4598 |
Thank you; I thought I was the only one who vomits on modern muzzleloaders I guess for me it's the weasel factor - a bunch of weasels who just want another rifle season hunt So they pollute my season with their bullshit - rifles with modern metals, optics, powders and projectiles Comment from : @Creeper308 |
Shit, I actually kind of liked the look of the scope against the great plains riflebrAlthough in my defense, camo stocks are hideous compared to wooden ones Comment from : @alienworm1999 |
Yes, the intro was hilarious but I also appreciate you taking the time to glance at this modern inline which I happen to own with the thumbhole stock Likewise, I'd happily paw at any firearm you personally cherish Comment from : @JoeLeone636 |
Good video Seriously considering this rifle I understand what you're saying about not hunting with certain rifles My dream was to own a Remington model 700 30 years ago I bought one and have hunted with it a couple years and now I'm afraid of taking it out in inclement weather My last 3 rifle purchases have been Savages with the synthetic stock I love all 3 of them 223, 308 and now a 300 win mag Comment from : @jeffbaker7547 |
I have that same rifle! Great accuracy with 250 grain Barnes T-EZ's with 81 grains (by weight, not volume) of Blackhorn 209 Comment from : @buckdown1658 |
Things like archery and muzzleloader seasons started with the idea that they could increase opportunity for people to hunt with a limited resource If the people hunting are less effective than you can have more hunters with the same amount of animals killed Comment from : @ethanbaker6264 |
Daniel Boone or David Crockett didn’t use one of those but I bet they would have if they had it! Comment from : @DV-ol7vt |
I’m generally a traditionalist but the hawken I shoot doesent have the power to kill an elk Comment from : @kevinthomas343 |
i dont think your exposed to touch the powder pellets Comment from : @bassinoutdoors3071 |
Yawnlong windedZzzz🥱 Comment from : @probegt75 |

There is another market for these Under federal law and in many states these are not classified as firearms As such, this means that someone that is disqualified from owning firearms for whatever reason can usually legally own and shoot these In fact you will hear on some of those game warden shows about felons being allowed to have muzzleloaders Comment from : @jrmcferren |
Did you say you have a buddy that does shoot lead out of these inline muzzleloader? Something I’ve been wanting to figure out if I can cast my own for an in-line muzzleloader Comment from : @ozzmann3217 |
I enjoy shooting at the range with mine Comment from : @victorholcomb2246 |
By far the best gun person on youtubealways explains AND shootsI do not like when the youtube person either talls too much or shoots with no talking for frame of reference Comment from : @christopherwilliams2954 |
I think only one purpose of this guns is it's without gun licence in some countries For example here in Czech Republic we don't need gun licence for muzzleloader so this modern muzzleloaders are very popular here Comment from : @Pidalin |
In some states, including my state of Louisiana, you can actually use certain single shot cartridge rifles during muzzle loader season Comment from : @firewalldragon9774 |
