“I own a musket for home defense because that’s what the founding fathers intended”brbr-Tri corner hat brobrbrbrIn all honesty though…ARs are cool and all but…the history behind the muzzle loaders and the fact that ever shot is not just a shot…it’s an experience in it of itself…makes them stand out in the world of firearms I guess it’s the same reason why revolvers are so cool…the combination of rich history going all the way back to the 1800s…and still having them be used today Comment from : Jake B |

Good points all but nothing wrong with starting out with whatever ignition system draws you the most While I have some percussion guns now (Civil War replicas), my first love is and always will be the flintlock It was also my first muzzleloader--a 45 caliber TC Hawken Comment from : Flinty McDuff |

Only squaws use nipples 😉 Comment from : PatchedRoundBall |

I picked up a Traditions Tennessee flintlock 50 a couple of years ago It's very light, shortbarreled Jaeger design It's not as efficient as a percussion rifle but it's the simplest flintlock I've ever owned or had to work with and with 55 grains of FFFG Goex and a patched roundball it's been very accurate Don't overlook the Traditions Guns, they're very reminiscient of the CVA guns of the 1970's and 80's that still work and are still out there Comment from : AdirondackBuzzard |
You know there are certain times of the year like I know in the forest of Pennsylvania when guys are bow hunting 4 deer a guy with a Muzzleloader can be shooting at the same time of the bow hunting season for deer with a muzzleloader Comment from : Gary Quail |

Nothing says louder when you shoot black powder I myself love shooting muzzleloaders but my favorite Muzzleloader to shoot is my 1851 African big game 69 caliber which takes 150 grain powder charge and the gun weights about 20 lbs when you shoot it it feels like with the recoil like that of a 30--06 very comfortable to shoot standing up Comment from : Gary Quail |
My first blackpowder rifle was a Hawken but it was aT/C I just finished a kit build a couple of months ago if a Traditions Shenandoah 50 It is my new favorite Rifle I have 2 Traditions kit pistols a Trapper and a Kentucky both 50 and at 25 yards, with a rest you can't miss The Shenandoah was zeroed in 5 shots with 1 powder adjustment and 1 sight adjustment I especially love the full stocks and am in the market for a full stock for my Hawken Love the channel Bud Comment from : Jack Blackpowder Prepper |
I have also found traditions to be accurate the week point on the flintlock is the lock which is easily replaced at your convenience with the replacement lock made by L&R Comment from : Ed Bennett |

Hello My name is Miguel Ángel and I am a muzzleloader shooter from Spain, so I am well acquainted with the muzzleloading rifles imported by Traditions, as they are manufactured by Ardesa, here in Spain I've been following your channel for a long time, which I find very interesting, like those of Mike Beliveau, Mark Humphries and Hovey Smith, because I watch all the channels that there are about traditional muzzleloaders If you have any questions about the Ardesa "Hawken Woodsman" you can ask me whatever you want In Spain, quite a few shooters compete with this rifle, although muzzleloading is a very minority sport here I've had that rifle in 50 and 54 I like the 54 better Now I have the Pedersoli Hawken Rocky Mountain in 54 and the Dikar Mountain (CVA) in 58 I think you can put a buckhorn on your rifle and a classic brass or iron sight It will be much better that way I see that you are a young man, I am 58 years old and I started with my Hawken when I was 25 At that age I had glasses and a beard very similar to yours Affectionate greetings from Spain Comment from : hawkenrifles |
