I'm not knocking the actual lesson but there are no 'Secrets' in music, That is totally the wrong attitude to teaching Making out that learning music is about knowing secrets is so detrimental to students learning, Imagine picking up a guitar for the first time and being told the reason you can't do something is because you don't know the secret or trick Again I have to say I'm not knocking the actual lesson here, the ocean analogy is really good, it makes perfect sense and I agree with the explanation 100

brilliant lesson! My sound is rhythm and melody I am definitely a strumming guy and it took me a long, long time to make my playing sound unique I wish I had this lesson years ago It would have taken a lot of grief out of my playing and I wouldn't have wasted so much time doing the wrong things This was truly inspirational I learned a lot in just 13 minutes I am in love with the ocean analogy That is a smart way to think about it You are an awesome teacher and an awesome guitar player too Thank You for putting this out there!!

Glad I found this video - I have been trying to memorize strum patterns and just keep the pattern going without success I can change chords but my rhythm sucks I am worried about how and when a chord change should be made within a strumming pattern I am going to try this for a couple of weeks and let you know how it works for me I am now on my 3rd month of learning and I thank you for sharing you talents with others!

super helpful ! yes monotone is boring and the most amazing songs have powerful emotions at core they were written because the writer had some intense emotional experience and he expresses it through music, sound i loved how you explain it made it clear in my mind let the emotion/song energy drive the strumming pattern not just play like a robot
