For those of us that say we don't care about money or that we are not motivated by it (I am one of them) It's more of if we have enough to live off of, we are happy I would rather be in a job that has okay enough pay that it pays my bills where it feels like a family rather than having a slightly higher paying job with a toxic environment

Thsi video has pushed me to get my Degree , I got injured in the military so all my original dreams of being a cop , SWAT or instructor has been shattered guess I’m doomed to work an office job, but this seems to be one that has excited me the most, in 25 I just wish I would have started this sooner , but hey with my benefits plus this work , making that type of money at 30 don’t seem so bad 😂😂

i can see why you need to go in if you're especially a huge company it's really important that your employees are comfortable with eachother and are able to connect with others i've been doing online software engineering at my university and on top of just the general difficulty of some of the classes, i realized that staying on top of your schedule takes a TON of energy and planning within itself, on top of that it's very difficult to connect with others because it has to be INTENTIONAL almost all of my college friends are just accidental as it should be, you just strive a convo with someone and it could turn into an awesome friendship/study partner but online you lose this natural feeling of connecting with others anyways just my 2 cents

I've heard about Software Development burnout culture I'd rather have 100k an work 32 hours a week than 250k and work 60 hours a week Man, it is harsh I don't want to spend all my free time keeping up to date But, on some level, (I'm a Security Analyst right now considering going for SD), I doubt Software Development moves as fast as cyber threats Maybe software gets updated routinely, but with each release, there's 1,000,000 vulnerabilities that exist in it Might actually be a breath of fresh air, for me

Looking for a new job My CV has 25 years of experience working on bralmost anything you can think The interview process consists of soneone watching me code a nested loop to solve some purely academic exercise brIf I was a carpenter, the interview wouldn’t be for me to build a chair If I were a doctor, my interview wouldn’t be an appendectomy brAll the while someone I’ve never met looking in on if I pseudo code first, am using comments, if I write a test first, in parallel or not at all, etc how reliant am o on the IDE it is sort of degrading Not to mention those companies that have several rounds and levels of interviews on multiple days Especially pre c19 with them being in person Asking someone to kill 4 days of their PTO for their lousy candidate experience is disrespectful to say the least

My company also has 10 levels I started in the 3rd level, because I had a bachelors degree There exists level 1 and 2 in my company, but are pretty uncommon They are the starting points for people that have a lower degree that just done their internships and trainings I guess that's the same for Google, etc and the reason they aren't listed, as a college degree is usually required
