Videos like this make me laugh because the whole supposition is one of - just make money FOLLOW YOUR PASSION PEOPLE - DON'T LET VIDEOS LIKE THIS DUPE YOU INTO THINKING THAT YOUR LIFE AS AN ADULT IS ONLY ABOUT MONEYbeing educated is many different things to different people! Some of the worst and most boring interactions that I've had were with people who think like this - they knew relatively nothing outside of what they learned in school Some of the best and most fulfilling interactions were with people who studied Liberal Arts, Communications, History etc because they had a view on life that wasn't besieged by just money In the end it's all about you - yes, bills need to be paid and people have material wants, but life is bigger than these "Top Ten Majors" and so is being "educated" Comment from : Derrick |

Late to the party but if you want to work in health care, be it a nurse or through med school: Money and career wise it will definitely pay off on the long run, however, if you truly want to be happy and successful in the career path you have to be passionate about it too There will be days where it can really be straining (emotionally and physically) Next to that you will work with all sorts of people and you have to not only be patient but also caring and supportive to them If you’re only doing it for the money but don’t like the job or working with people, I wouldn’t advice the career path at all There is so many health care workers that work with burnout complaints or are sitting at home due tot that reason (not that I’m implying that all of those people aren’t passionate about their job, more that being passionate definitely lowers the risk) Comment from : Jesse |

From personal experience, I would say leaning chemistry was rewarding Started out as a chemical engineer major, was not into the heavy math as I was the science, so I changed to chemistry Along with the thought that it would allow a broader scope of careers to choose from Went through biology, chem 1,2 organic chem 1,2 analytical chemistry Calculus 1,2 physics 1,2 etc It was all quite nice and quite difficult at times calculus 2 in particular But I got to my late third year before covid struck I took some time on my personal health, and now I find myself working as a lucrative construction worker for some of the biggest hotel owners of the South or even across the US ie roosevelt, marriott, hilton, double tree Life finds doors that open, and you choose which ones to walk through I, however, am much more fortunate of my opportunistic career But I would never have regretted following my passion for chemistry as it always holds a dear place in my heart and passion It is something worth learning if you enjoy it Comment from : Metallic Shades |
|
As a cs student, I find this hard to believe The competition in the cs industry is extremely extremely competitive It's definitely not for everyone Not with today's job market either I'd honestly encourage anyone to pursue nursing if you're in it for the security and money only; they'll never run out of jobs Comment from : eZra S |

Wow! I scored twice! I first got a physics degree (UC Berkeley, 1979) followed by a mechanical engineering degree (UC Berkeley, 1983) I'm not sure I would recommend a bachelors in physics if the reward was to work in the financial industry but there are some entry level jobs you could get in technology companies In my case though, I got a job at a Dept of Energy National laboratory Getting the masters in mechanical engineering (heat transfer & thermodynamics) did boost me into the scientist classification and onward to a 30 year career I spent about half my career developing scientific instrumentation for air pollution monitoring The final and best half of my career was providing engineering support for the Human Genome Project and a DNA sequencing laboratorybrbrAND he mentioned the FIRE movement I didn't retire at 35 but I did retire at 55 which is pretty early He also talked about remote jobs which, thanks to the pandemic, finally became relevant I mention this because I retired to Thailand and remote jobs may allow you to work remotely in foreign countries Think about it Comment from : Martin P |
