I tried doing online courses when that first came out They lost all the digital records and i ended up getting an incomplete for the first semester Being a kid it put a bad taste in my mouth about colleges even though i wanted to better myself Ended up just paying for the semester and leaving Comment from : Forrest Patterson |

5:46-Great idea!brThis not only makes college easier to pay,but it gets an incentive from universities to bdo their job well!/b Comment from : Maestrul Gamer |
2:50 Its a bit off to say you'll break even this way There's interest paid on student loans, and depending on budgeting, it might put you further behind The person with the HS diploma might have a car paid off by that time and be able to actually start saving moneybrbrIn the manufacturing world, its all experience I know other industries might not be that way, but some trades are valued way higher than expectedbrbrOne of the biggest issues with university is that you're expected to know what you want to specialize in when you're 18-20 The vast number of people are not even in their degree field or using it by the time they are 30 Comment from : Nick |
The biggest problem is when they made student loans unable to default via bankruptcy They can give away as many loans as they want to whoever and they will always get it all back with 0 risk Comment from : froghole1 |

I’m general while there are some exceptions if your income solely depends on a salary paid by working for someone you will not become wealthy no matter what degree you have Comment from : Shrapmetal |
Medicine is financially viable if you can own your own practice More and more doctors have given up this control to the corporations It’s bad for patients and bad for the profession Comment from : Shrapmetal |

You wanna get a college degree without breaking the bank Study in Europe! Germany's college tuition is about 300-400 euros per semester Plus, you explore the continent and learn new cultures, languages Comment from : Kevin Gines |
I went to a state school and, with a combination TAP, Pell, and cash, I got out without any debt And, I'm not even doing the same thing I studied and it gave me enough leverage to the point that I'm making about what my in debt friends are I don't regret it at all Mfs need to stop leaving the state to go to school, most states will subsidize half or sometimes even all of your schooling if you go to school in the same state, but private schools have people convinced that these 20-somethings need some semblance of independence (which, for some reason, involves leaving the state to get into debt and not like, you know, just living on your own in a college that's near you) Comment from : RingsOfSolace |
Thank god I’m from Europe, I paid $3k for my whole undergrad tuition (+ cost of living ofc) You need a reform in the US Comment from : F |
The bigger question is, why are American universities so ridiculously expensive? Not to mention, those "universities" that aren't real schools like DeVry Comment from : JP |

College has become a scam I would advise people to get an apprenticeship, learn the trades or start a business A lot of college classes are nonsense anyway and worthless I regret ever going to college and getting a degree, huge waste of time and money If you want to be a doctor, lawyer or engineer you have to go but for 90 of people it is pointless Comment from : Justin Harper |

Unless you aren’t paying for it, please please please just go to a good instate school IMHO You will save so much money brbrAfter high school, I had several friends leave the more expansive private school of their dreams and transfer to an instate public university for cost reasons alone College really is what you make of it and you can get an amazing education if you know what you’re looking for Comment from : Sam King |
Ap classes are also awesome for saving a year or two off of college Comment from : Y B |

Bad advice on community college that doesn’t take into account that students take longer to graduate or don’t graduate at all because of a lack of academic and student supports, which lowers their adult earnings by more than what they’re saving in tuition See Zimmerman (2014) Comment from : Decoy1138 |
Only STEM degrees are worth anythingbrbrGet rid of college sports, they wouldn't need overpaid coaches Comment from : HeyYou |

Whenever anyone talks about college these days, only loans are mentioned Are scholarships, grants, and work study no longer offered? My family had literally not one penny to put toward college, but I graduated with not one penny in loan debt because of these other financial aid opportunities, but that was 25 years ago Have these other options dried up? That would be deeply concerning Comment from : MS Thalamus |
Good vid, maybe there is another vid covering the topic of the cost of trade schools and their future salaries Traditional college is not the only path to a high salary A skilled trade can also prove very lucrative with more job security than many college degrees may offer Comment from : cardo |

IMO the trouble is requiring college degrees for jobs that don't actually require college degrees Credential inflation has completely messed up our society Instead of telling everyone to get more and more education to compete in the rat race we need stronger labor movements Organized labor is the way to secure bargaining power Comment from : AwwterGirl |

Here's my take I graduated from a prestigious university 30 years ago with a political science degree Did I become financially successful ? Not quite Was poly sci a "prestigious" major ? Not quite It had one of the lowest unit requirements and while some classes were great other poly sci classes were quite a joke Do I think you should go to a 4 year college rather than not ? Yes brRegrets, I have a few But that is ok No one lives a perfect lifebrDo i wish I was a high income person with a nice big house , lots of dough in the bank? I spent $56,000 on my Bachelor Of Fine Arts degree & I thought that was crazy at the time (2008) Looking back, $56K isn't all that much considering the lifestyle & fun I had In fact, I wouldn't have thought of investing in real estate & renting out to housemates if it weren't for my 3 years living in dormitories Comment from : LandonGendur |

i studied political science in school mainly because i needed a BA and did not want to have to study at a university in the USA I started at a community college and stayed there until i had only one class which was a remedial math course which i could not convince the school to let me simply take a college algebra so i would not have to waste my time Seeing that I only had one class left I decided to transfer to an online university which did allow me to take college algebra without needing a remedial class I ended up getting a B in College Algebra and i proudly walked into the Community college and showed them my transcript and walked out with my 2-year degree While i was studying online i got my TEFL certificate and went to Brazil to teach English If i stayed in the USA i would earn 1000 hour flipping burgers at Mcdonald's If i am teaching in Brazil I make 15 to 20 an hour talking to people for 24 hours a week If i stayed in the USA I would be staying in a boarding house with roommates who are sometimes bringing drugs, prostitutes, or violence in the house whereas in Brazil I would spend the same amount staying in a Hostel where I would meet people from all over the world and if it happened where i did not like someone they would normally leave within a few days Plus i was able to learn to speak Portuguese and Spanish Basically i created my own study abroad program and after i got my BA I went to China where I am able to earn decent money teaching English to Children While all my friends back home are stuck in offices and shoveling their drive ways during their vacation time I am singing and dancing with little kids and spending my holidays on the beach sipping coconuts I figure if I were to return to the USA the Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, Khmer, Turkish, Russian, and Vietnamese will look good on my resume Comment from : Video Czar |

I have another option: go to a community college, earn an Assoicates degree, get into sales or recruiting, get a job with a big corporation, and have the company pay for your Bachelors degree A lot of corporations are paying for employees’ undergrad degrees A lot of salespeople and recruiters earn over $100K annually WARNING: results may vary Comment from : LAWoman323213 |

I "dormed" at my parents house and went to a University within a half hour drive that cost in total for less than what 1 year at most of my friends schools cost A lot of my friends went to dorm-away in state schools so I could go to parties with them and hang out for some of the college experience without the price-tag Unless you are trying to work at Google or something, a degree is a degree, it doesn't matter where it is from as long as the school is not one of those online degree mills Comment from : Insanity Crow |
