Regina Carroll
Just getting started in this Thank you for the information!
Comment from : Regina Carroll

Jim Bauer
Not pure silver mixed with cadmium poison if you try to melt not worth much if you can find anyone to buy it
Comment from : Jim Bauer

Mikal Dene
I never realized silver was in electronics
Comment from : Mikal Dene

Jonathan Kuntz
I know most stuff is gold plated or silver plated but are those pure silver dots?
Comment from : Jonathan Kuntz

Tina Mitchell
You don't have to melt them to get money
Comment from : Tina Mitchell

Tina Mitchell
Just bring it to the scrap yard for cash
Comment from : Tina Mitchell

Darren Swan
The amount of those contacts etc I've thrown away when collecting copper since I was a kid I'd probably have 2 kilo of silver 😂😂
Comment from : Darren Swan

Shanna Allen

It's not about the price of silver it's about supply and demand! The corpoate banks are stock piling it because it has more value than golg Just saying
Comment from : Truly Lynn

Randy OQuinn
You need to be careful with that lithium If that stuff hits water it ignites and can explode
Comment from : Randy OQuinn

Jack McLane
Sadly, if you count your time you have to put in there most of it is hardly worth it
Comment from : Jack McLane

Vintage Moments
Sell the switches make more money this is the biggest waste unless the parts are broken
Comment from : Vintage Moments

Lawrence
Buy your own hot beverage with the tons of cash you must be earning each day Better, buy all commenters and subscribers something cuz your trash is a waste of moneytrue
Comment from : Lawrence

Bentley Alder
I'm a little surprised that you didn't mention crystal oscillators Most circuit boards have them and they generally have silver pins
Comment from : Bentley Alder

Ron Edwards
This is a waste of time watching this and more of a waste of time If you think you’re going to get anything out of those little tiny pieces of silver, it’ll take you months to save up an ounce in breaking hours of your time, breaking things tearing things apart to get to it It’s the most ridiculous thing almost as ridiculous as superman looks Anyway, even negative comments, help the algorithm
Comment from : Ron Edwards

Destructo Au
It blows me away how much precious resources are in white goods and computers yet our society is a disposable society and everything is made to break and be replaceable iPhones don’t even support products older than the last generation

Comment from : April

Hildy
Those of you thinking about refining, PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND GET THE PROPER GEAR You can seriously injure yourself with toxic fumes, etc For example, mercury is incredibly toxic Get the proper masks, gloves, aeration of your work area, etcbrLearn before you burn!brBTW, some coin dealers are predicting a large increase in gold & silver prices, especially silver, as soon as the new monetary system is installed, starting in July
Comment from : Hildy

Terry Tomasiewicz
Only complaint is the back and forth in the video Made me dizzy - hard to focus on little parts Would be so much better if you were behind the table and able to hold items up to camera
Comment from : Terry Tomasiewicz

Chuck Gentles
Second time I watched, I always learn something from your vids 😎😎🔥🔥⛏⛏
Comment from : Chuck Gentles

Robert McKelvey
I thought those were called relays
Comment from : Robert McKelvey

Mark P
Interesting video but seems like a low return of investment for the amount of work - acquiring the circuit boards, extracting, etc Its amazing to think about what we are throwing away
Comment from : Mark P

Jeff Bryan
Isn't saving valuables from being scrapped actually UNscrapping? Great vid! Very industrious! If you don't need all the cash Immediately I suggest JUST STORE THE METAL Much much like silver mines such as First Majestic hold back a percentage of production
Comment from : Jeff Bryan

Adrien de Croy
at only $24 per ounze, it's a waste of time Probably cost you more to obtain it than it's worth
Comment from : Adrien de Croy

WOLFMAN TROY
It's been two years now, have you gotten rid of that silly top knot yet? true friends would tell ya it looks gay
Comment from : WOLFMAN TROY

jeff cantley
Those contacts in the circuit board relay boxes are silver coated with copper cores it's not a pure piece of silver
Comment from : jeff cantley

CR3W1SH03S
They're not contact boxes, they're relays and switches
Comment from : CR3W1SH03S

Mister E
Are you sure those contacts are pure silver, or are they simply silver coated? Hardly seems worthwhile if they're just coated
Comment from : Mister E

Zephaniah 1v3
Great video, well explained, and great teaching Thank you I subscribed ⚘️
Comment from : Zephaniah 1v3

Grnfinger
Somehow the return isn't going to be worth your timebrTo small Go grab some old motors and rip the copper out of that brOr extract the gold from computer boardsbrMost of that will not be pure silver dude
Comment from : Grnfinger

John Aberm
I've got to call you out on it you're a liar or you just don't think your time is worth anything😮

Comment from : DigiLab360

If you factor in your time and materials cost, there is no profit in silver on this small scale
Comment from : Joshua Snyder

Comment from : YooTooobJeff

Amos Pena
Is the silver 999 in these componts?
Comment from : Amos Pena

thomas
@0:09 silver is currently about 075 USD/gram (750 USD/kg) or about 2400 USD/ounce brfor comparison copper is currently about 825 USD/kg or about 023 USD/ouncebryou could weigh one of the small contacts it might weigh about 1 gram, although it would have impurities brbesides environmental conservation, economics, including investing one's time, matter too
Comment from : thomas

B d
At the price of silver about 10 $ an ounce, how much work and time 15 to 20 breakers for half an ouncesoif you save it for a year you might get a hundred dollars
Comment from : B d

James Byron
Try vinegar as a substitute for nitric acid
Comment from : James Byron

Troy Hendrickson
The real test is when everything is said and done, all chemicals etc disposed of legally, how much do you make? Silver wouldn;t be a high profit margin when gold might yield an actual $10 an hour for all the time nd cost
Comment from : Troy Hendrickson

Comment from : Chuck Gentles

K Gergő
Although some of these seem to be way bigger business on the still usable component level the Chinese make big money of selling scavenged everythings as new I'm not saying that it is a model to follow, but there is a middle way
Comment from : K Gergő

Comment from : Mega Therion

Americas Favorite Hoarder
I love those little boxes Lots of copper and now I'll be saving the silver dots too Thanks
Comment from : Americas Favorite Hoarder

Jeff Borders
Electronics recycling is about as dirty as an industry can possibly get That's why this doesn't get scaled up in any reasonable way beyond basement hobbyists because the EPA would swoop in to shut them down for being too dirty to be allowed in a first world country
Comment from : Jeff Borders

Darren Smith
hmm, as A tech, it appears to me that you are working for 1 cent per hour or less!
Comment from : Darren Smith

LordCeeJay
And after all that work, you get Seven Dollars! Woo Hoo!
Comment from : LordCeeJay

Robert Sipes
So I’m wondering about time value If you had to put an approximate silver value in the one black contact you opened what would it be?
Comment from : Robert Sipes

Brendan Quinn

Comment from : Ciprian Popa

95rav
Most of the "silver" you are referring to here is just silver plate, and a very thin plate at that Same with gold plate/ fingers Silver, unlike gold, platinum, rhodium etc tarnishes easily and is not a good choice for contactsbrbrBY FAR, the most silver in electronic scrap is in the solder Older solder was tin/lead Now much has been replaced with tin/silver (3-5) to comply with RoHS by removing hazardous materials like lead, mecury and cadmium
Comment from : 95rav

Ramson Cole
Umma lithium battery doesn't contain lead If you expose lithium to air it will combust, be careful
Comment from : Ramson Cole

The Sniper Viper
Costs more to refine it than you could get out of it

Video cruzer
about 20 years ago a friend of a friend told me he goes to the estate sales, auctions in Vancouver BC Canada and buys up everyone's old sterling Silver sets, melts it down and refines it into 999 silver bars Heard he makes about a 1million per year including the parts it takes to refine the lower grade silver into the 999 bars of Silver over twenty years ago
Comment from : Video cruzer

Get a decent job, you might earn 10 time in one hour
Comment from : Peter Nekeresd

ShiningForce07
remember once brought scrap CRT computer display to the "nonprofit environment-protecting" recycling center, but before that I removed the electronics only the tube remained The guy tehere said me angrily that never again to bring scrap without the electronics, without further explanation CRTs, as you know contain only lead, barium and other heavy metals and glass, essentially worthless So much for "environment protection" and not for profit! 😀
Comment from : ShiningForce07
