Board Sort pays 40 cents a pound for lead Yesterday, I brought UPS batteries in with my escrap and got 15 cents a pound I have pulled apart a car battery once and there were not lead plates There were like pouches in the shape of a plate filled with lead pellets Very not making any sense Lucky for me, my escrap yard also takes lithium ion batteries for the same price, so I throw in those that I randomly find and hey, another 5 cents Ok Alkalines? I throw em into my steel bin Comment from : jack palczynski |

Scrap battery prices low soft extracted lead prices high In the US Comment from : Albert Sparrow |

Another thing about scrapping boats are the "sacrificial anodes" In freshwater boats it's usually magnesium, brackish are zinc and saltwater anodes are usually aluminum All of these will work in any type of water, but some erode faster than others Comment from : Bellwether Trucking |
Dont forget to top off all the batteries with water before you bring them in Even the sealed ones There is usually a plate that pops off and plugs on each of the chambers that can be pulled off and put back on after adding a few pounds of water It might not be worth it if you're bringing 1 battery, but when you have a stack amd you can add 20 lbs of water to the dry cells Comment from : Paul Lanier |
Sigh You didn't take it apart Bummer! Comment from : Texas Smith |
The acid will burn you so bad I worked at a plating shop he had a lot of different acids Comment from : John Peters |
That anode, red lead was sold 30$ / pound, 7 years a go So you might check your pricing and buyers accountability again:D Comment from : Kangsteri |

The most common is not sulfation! Sulfation happens when you dont charge the battery correct, or lacking of charge for long time All batteries have corrosion of the lead in the positive plates In the end of life, the positive lead plates are non-existant Comment from : perlandeback |
The only other battery, some ARE COLLECTED FOR SILVER CONTENT, are button/cell batteries Not the Lithium cells like a 2032 or 2016, but others, if you like time wasted and toxic chems, these dumb things is are the for teh yoo Comment from : Letting In the Black Light |

Hello Thub, I came across your channel about a month or so ago and have been enjoying consuming video after video Thank you for all your great and helpful content I recently finally collected a decent bag of cans here in St Louis, MO, USA, and was pleasantly surprised to get $16 and a little change for them Your channel gives me hope that I could make a decent amount on the side scrapping brbrI really enjoyed this video and also look forward to more inthus series I did want to add a couple of options for recycling other [than lead] batteries Around here we have Best Buys and Batteries Plus retail stores which will recycle any batteries, for free drop off They don't buy them but do keeping them out of landfills Also one could purchase a rather expensive Terra Cycle box to recycle batteries for those hard core about keeping them out of landfillsbrbrThanks again I look forward to your next video! Oh and great send off line I'll keep leaving it better than I found it Blessings Comment from : Edward Loduca |

Okay so oddly enough one of the more common things I personally come across are power tools of all sorts that either plain don't work anymore or the batteries and/or chargers are no longer workingidk lol AnywayI was actually hoping; when I saw the subject of this particular video; that u would mention these types of batteries and what I should do with them But sence u did not and I am now commenting I figured I'd ask if u could please do a video about wether or not broken power tools are something worth scrapping and if so how I should go about this? On a side note: when I began scrapping seriously as my side source of income about 2 years ago now, your first scrapping for beginners video was the first one I ever watched and I've been a big fan ever sence! Ur vids are definitely top tier in my opinion compared to others out here in YouTubesvillelolbrAnyway I really appreciate how fast, efficient and to-the-point you are in every vid That along with the fact that it's totally obvious you know what u are doing with all this is so refreshing and that's sadly a rare thing nowadays Anyway sorry to fangirl out but I'm a believer in giving credit where it's deserved so yeahplease let me know if u can do that vid if u haven't done one about that alreadyand if u have I'd love to know where I could find it Thank you for your time! brOh yeah alsomy nickname has been Panda sence I was 2 or 3 yrs old and it's my favorite animal next to dogs solove the follower name you have ESPECIALLY! lolso thank you for that as well ☺️😁😬💯💯💯🤓😁🤣br - signed a loyal 🐼 br Amanda Sullivan br Pine city, MN 🇺🇸 Comment from : Mandie Sullivan |

I know this video is over a year old but right now in Ontario we're getting 10 per car battery or 25 cents a pound Lead is worth 75 cents a pound so for a car battery that is 40 lbs $10 whole or if you take apart the battery the yield is about 24lbs of lead and that gets $18 so in my area at the current price it's very much worth taking them apart Just wear gloves and eye protection and drain the battery into a bucket and add a water and baking soda mix to the acid to neutralize it There is also a market for the lead oxide or red lead that comes from between every plate in the battery Im getting $3 for red lead out of a car battery so for me i can double the price by taking apart the battery It is not a profitable venture on smaller batteries unless you don't value your time spent Comment from : dave scraper and DIY |

Please do not throw batteries into the trash Even just 2 or 3 batteries can create a spark that could lead to a box fire in the garbage truck Once a truck starts burning there is a 50/50 chance that the truck is a total loss and a 25 chance that the driver is injured or killed Comment from : allfather5150 |
