ARTHUR LESTER
I watch several YouTube videos on how to trade in the stock market but haven't made any head start because they are either talking some gibberish or sharing their story of how they made it and I do not want to make mistakes by taking risks in my own hands
Comment from : ARTHUR LESTER

Wilson Kelvin
There are a lot of strategies to make tongue-wetting profit that the average joes don't know Personally, the financial-market for me seems the only way forward with my long time horizon (accrued roughly $457k in gains since Mid 2021 ) but if you don’t have that fortune of time it’s a tough market out there almost nowhere feels safe!

SrinivasaRao A
Very informative and practical Thanks brPl make a video for those people who saved enough, but didn't invested in instruments that give tangible monthly returns (instead they invested a LOT in real estate) This means, they saved money, but that money, and that asset class is appreciating, but they don't get returns Asset rich and income poor :-) I see a lot of my friends did this

Saikat Halder
the entire retirement excel calculation is wrong TOTALLY FAKE WRONG INFO i downloaded the sheet n put the following databrage 33, retirement age 50, life 80, inflation: 6, pre retirement 11, post: 8, current expense 40000 now pre retirement corpus at age 34, at 11 return on (65000*12) is 865800 now, year 2, age 35, sip: 65000/month annual: 780k, pre retirement corpus becomes 1826838 so, in 1 year with 11 return corpus goes up from 865800 to 1826838 what logic is this?

Shankar 400
Hi Thanks for the explanation brSmall doubt - The annual expense at the age 61 is calculated as (expense at age 60)*12*inflation_factor with inflation factor being calculated as 1 It should have been (expense at age 60) *12*107 (assuming inflation at 7)brbrPlease clarify

Vijay Sharma
Hi ET Money, It seems the retirement calculator linked in this video has not been constructed properly I decided to take a look at it but it is almost unusable Cant write all issues I found but a few to get your team thinking about it Firstly its designed for a 36 yrs old, if you change the age , many calculations break Second most important - all calc are done with simple interest in mind and assuming the entire annual investment is available on Day one of the year - which is a huge mistake Please correct the same or remove the link to this - many people will falsely believe to be in control when they would actually be not

Hi @ET Money,brIn your Excel Calculator, the column name is "Post Retirement Monthly Expenses", whereas the calculation comes for Yearly expenses, I guess the column name needs to change to "Post Retirement Yearly Expenses"

Be Curious
Stock market (equity) does not give compounding of money, not sure if the calculations of A and B are practical in nature?brbrAlso, I believe only FDs offered by the bank can be used to take advantage of compounding, but since their return is less around 6-7, the difference at the end for A and B would be less than shown here? brbrThank you
Comment from : Be Curious

Chronos

It's not really that big of a deal if you haven't got any investment or savings for retirement yet, it's still very possible to build a million dollar portfolio within a limited length of time I ventured into online investment for the first time August last year through guided trading with a regulated broker and i've made an average of $845,000 from my total investment capital of $140,000

Pinky@Good Girl 💕
I completely agree and respect to whatever you said, but compounding word/name truly not applicable to Mutual Funds because there is no guarantee on returns year on year Here we should just assume only that numbers (12 return) will help us on the long run
Comment from : Pinky@Good Girl 💕

Avishek Bhattacharya
Hello Shankar/ ET Money Team, Congratulations on creating such beautiful content Also, thanks a lot for the retirement calculator It is awesome But, I think you have a glitch On Colum N, you used IF(($D$10-$D$9)>$B23,(G23*12*(1+G$16)),0) where 1+G$16 this thing gave it a flavor of CAGR as if the entire money will be invested at one go Should we not use FV to take periodicity into account? Thanks, Avi

Useful Calculator Thanks for this Two questions (1) Should we not look at bringing in the money accumulated in "Projections" sheet into the Monthly investment info in "Retirement readiness" tab? (2) EPF here is only Employee contribution to PF or we should input both employer+employee?

Hi, there seems to be an error in calculation in "Post Retirement Monthly Expenses" in sheet 1 I am seeing an inflation grow from 1LK today to 43LK in 23 years I think you are multiplying it with "12", which makes it a yearly expense not monthly
Comment from : Ankush Khanna

Can anyone explain to me how the power of compounding works in direct Equity or Equity Mutual Funds?brbrMy understanding is, there is a stock value or NAV whose value might grow based on company performance and/or situation? It can be fast or slow it depends But how compounding is calculated for equity or MF case?brbrPS: I know the general formula of the compound interest
