I taught myself to ride a unicycle about a year and a half ago now and I ride mine on trails in the mountains and long distances on bike trails Today I only road about six miles but I ride about every day I ride a 32 inch unicycle so it's easier to go farther distances but let me tell you If you wear the wrong pants you will be hurting the next dayI need a softer seat for obvious reasons

Been riding for about 8 years Though the last I'd say 3 years I haven't been able to use my two bikes Decided to get back into riding my 20" freestyle It sat outside for all that time I didn't use it Now it's looking a bit rusty on the frame, a bit on the wheels rim Saddle looks weathered Brought it to a small bike repair shop today for a quick look over Bike preforms just fine like when new, but my stamina clearly has gone down since my last sessions on it I barely made it the two blocks from the shop to my driveway and I could already feel my legs, getting sore And my breathing definitely went up Still enjoyable and I have retained the muscle memory to ride

great explanation, as a unicommunter i wholeheartedly agree that friction is the enemy Get a 36, look into shammy cream, and acquire the padded shorts I would say the unique purpose of riding a unicycle around town is to receive complements from strangers, and beyond that, to experience "flying" or feeling so connected to the wheel and the ground that you forget you are peddaling at all

Unicycles can be faster if you use a bigger wheel like from 24" and above I put unicycling into my lifestyle like communiting to my parents house(300m) everyday and going to shops or the ATM machine few km away You can bring the unicycle INTO the shops and ATM, unlike a bike

You don’t need the wall to learn Prop the wheel on a curb and launch after lightly bouncing one foot from the ground to get a feel for the balance point Keep launching until the distance increasesbrbrThe wall makes it harder to focus on the balancing muscles you need to use for actual riding

If you’re into skateboard or bmx types sports, where you continuously learn new tricks, unicycling is amazing It is surprisingly good for those types of tricks, and has other sub types, such as trials or mountains cycling

after unicycling for about four months I think this is true for some people but not allbrI unicycle almost every day and never even thought about quitting this was a pretty discouraging video for me because I watched it before I got my first uni but if you’re passionate about it get a uni and ridebrPlus even if you don’t use it often they’re cheap and durable so what’s the big deal?brAnyway I’ll let you get back to your day now

I personally use unicycle as my main transportation method inside the city when i need to go 3km or shorter distances It's fun and even more practicle than bikes because you can carry it with you on public transportation or basically anywhere, never needed to tie it and be afraid of it being stolen It's great! (Btw I upgraded to a 26" wheel to ride faster)

i got a unicycle like 2 months ago and its all i use for transport now because my bike was stolen but really i like it more than a bike cause with a bike u aint doing anything but pedaling with the unicycle u are always falling so you have to balance yourself whilst looking around you as well as moving forward and turning and in my opinion on a unicycle u have more control cause your body does the slowing down not breaks and your body does the turning not the handle bars
