I feel like calling it Holland instead of the Netherlands is not a big deal, when someone asks me where I'm from I always say Holland instead of the Netherlands for brevity's sake Of course, I'm speaking as someone who's actually from Noord Holland, so someone from the other provinces may have another opinion, but that's just my take

Wow, this got dated in 2022 after COVID 1:Nobody cares, This only is a thing we tease foreigners with Like we do when we try to get you to eat Drop 3: ATMs are harder to find nowadays Just use your debit card or credit card when needed 4: biking is not a pastime It's for transportation Tourists on bikes are a bother to dutch people We understand you don't know how to ride a bike properly Just keep to the right of the bikelane, and signal with your hand before turning 7: don't do drugs The stuff they sell you in Amsterdam is mostly shit 8: where did 8 go? 9: if you're in Amsterdam, do not go to Groningen It's a very boring 25 hour ride getting there, although the town is quite nice If you want to visit the north from Amsterdam, rent a car for a day, and drive to Sneek or Leeuwarden You go across the Afsluitdijk, and it's 45 minutes up to an hour to get there 10: Do not eat on busy streets with a lot of tourists Ask someone who lives there to suggest a nice place to eat Dutch people are honest about this, and do not want you to get indigestion
