The word "defense" is an extremely misleading marketing term America is geographically situated so well that we could probably fend off invaders with a tiny fraction of the military we currently have This is all about power, bullying the world into buying from US corporations to further boost corporate profits and make the billionaires even richer The middle class just works to build this shit and also pay for it with our hard-earned money, while the big wigs just give it away to their business buddies WE DO NOT NEED A MILITARY THIS BIG It also hasn't won any wars since WW2, so this is the biggest lie we've been sold on

Actually, the amount that the US is spending on Afghanistan has yet to be changed President Biden and the Democrats are TRYING hard to get that expenditure eliminated, but the Republicans keep BLOCKING their efforts No doubt, the Republicans (or their constituents, more likely) are making oodles "under the table" from those payments!

If we eliminate the "use it or lose it" mentality in the military, we will save a ton of money One year, we can't afford ammo for live-fire exercises The next year we are forced to buy useless items because if we didn't use our entire budget, our budget would be reduced the next fiscal year Imagine a world where our military isn't forced to spend their entire budget Instead, the money rolls over into the next fiscal year and can be used to buy more, or more expensive, resources

Is it really necessary to project that much power far from US shores? Does NATO have to expand ever more, with the US bearing the brunt of the spending?
