TYTY sir - exacccccccctly what I wanted to see! I totally agree that the marks are much harder NOT to see and actually the more you look at them the more they ARE THERE in your face! :) TY for this video!brbrPS - Do you have a preference between PCGS/NGC for 1 these type of coins specificallybr 2 In general as well? Comment from : Andrew Hart |

I've always been told that DMPLs in old holders were a lot more lenient than in modern holders No surprises in this video Comment from : iCookie (e100k) |
Thanks Ben, very interesting video I like the idea of split grading Comment from : Coin Struck |
So if you get a coin “reholdered” you can get a crappy dmpl in a modern holder with the same grade ? I’m assuming the answer is yes, so even in a new holder you can have a “gradeflation” dmpl Comment from : Tylonn Platinum 3rd Coins |
Very nice Morgans Love to see the comparisons Clarity of the writing in the reflection is a neat little trick Comment from : Don |
Im gonna sell some of my world coins soon because I really want to buy this Morgan on ebay its $500+ but its so beautiful its graded ms64 dmpl by ngc its in a newer holder i must have it lol Comment from : Jose Figueroa |
Surprised about some of those - especially the 82 CC; from what I see in the video it doesn't even look prooflike All very nice coins, nonetheless Comment from : Michael C |
man, that '84-O is stunning! Comment from : Alexander von Kaufman |
Those TPG's were VERY generous on those first 3 grades I'm almost certain they wouldn't get DMPL today PCGS and NGC seem to be giving the PL for the old DMPL standards, and DMPL to only unbelievable mirrored coins with stunning cameo where you can read letters from 10 inches away Comment from : Make Numismatics Great Again |
Yeah it’s weird how the numerical grade has become more lenient but the designations for coins have been graded for conservatively over the years Comment from : Stephen Nalepa |
I’m on my way to the shop in about an hour I ventured to Tucson today Comment from : Eric Krznarich |
Ohhthe DMPL Comment from : TampaCoinGuy |
Same thing has happened with the Red and Red/Brown designations over the years There are a lot of ugly coins in old pcgs and ngc Red labeled holders That’d make a great video Ben Comment from : Tylonn Platinum 3rd Coins |
Thank you Ben for sharing information and some really Good looking Morgan Dollars which are my all time favorite Silver Dollars You have some really Good examples for what you are Teaching Comment from : Mike Smith |
Take a laser light to them and you can find out if its DMPL or PL Its amazing to see what this light does on the surfaces!brUltraviolet or a bright blue fluorescent light will work Naked eye can not Comment from : Numismatic Stacker |
Sweet God!!! I would love to own some coins like that jeeeeeezzzuuuuuusss! Comment from : WisconsinCRHunter |
To be honest, I dint know why any of those coins got 64 grade I have seen 63s with less marks Sorry Comment from : Paul Begansky |
The preparation process for the dies changed I believe in 1891 so that cameo appears very infrequently in later date Morgans like in the 1897 Comment from : defiantsisko |
Your videos have taught me a lot about coin grading Thanks Comment from : Douglas Williams |
