I like this video topic Daniel Very informative Totally agree that not enough people are aware of the Schwab benefits Having said that; with the number of free ATMs that some of the other banks offer, I think its biggest claim to fame is the overseas bit Useful and situationally beneficial, but I don't see overseas fees adding up too much for the "average" college studentbrbrA couple of things that I think might be worth mentioning Customer service is pretty important to me when I consider which institution to do my primary banking with That (along with a nice simple list of benefits) is why I've done my primary banking with Discover for several years now I've only had two instances where I needed to call customer service since I started banking with them, and in both cases I had my problem understood and resolved in minutes And it was like talking to a small-town banker that I'd known for years Problems are never good, but the resolution of my issues in a timely and competent fashion, by a pleasant representativethat was a very welcome change of pace from my normal dealings with customer service at other companies (banks or not)brbrAdditionally, I still need paper checks for some local services (small-town) Discover bank will give me as many basic checks as I need (and I don't need many) for free You mentioned the 1 on debit card purchases and the free ATMs Really the biggest shortcoming is how to deal with a sudden influx of money in cashbrbrFor that problem I have my secondary bankCapital One I don't have any physical branches close to me, but I do have a CVS in my small town You mentioned that adding cash to one of the other online banks could be done for a fee In Capital One's case, I walk into CVS, pull up my app, type in how much I'm depositing in cash, generate a barcode, hand over my cash to a cashier, have them confirm the amount and scan my barcodea short while laterit's available No fee, and no real hassle (especially considering I only have to do it once or twice a year) But once I have the cash in electronic form, I can transfer it to my Discover bank account (if that's where it's going)brbrI use my Discover accounts for nearly all of my recurring payments (most of which are paying off credit cards that handle my monthly expenses), and keep my "emergency fund" savings there as well Capital One just has my monthly "mad money" and enough in the savings to cover any accidental overdraft and/or to pay off both of my Capital One credit cards (most months) I really like that payments from Capital One bank accounts immediately roll back my balances on my Capital One cards (instead of posting a day or two later)brbrSo, yeah Customer service and handling cash were the things I wanted to bring up I can't make any recommendations about Capital One for customer service though; because I haven't had any problems with them yetso haven't needed to contact them I will say that I like Capital One's mobile app MUCH more than Discover's offeringor Chaseor Citior AmEx But most folks can get used to anything if they use it often enough Anyway, great video Keep up the good work Comment from : Michael McLaughlin |
This is going to be my very first time opening a bank account in the US (I'm a US citizen)brIf I open up SoFi how can I open a credit card afterwards I don't know what to do Comment from : Parandzem Hayrikyan |

I would suggest to check your local banks over online After comparing these options and other online banks, one of my local banks is offering 417 interest and 425 APY for their high yield savings It's worth checking especially since it's easier to go in person without having to wait a couple days for some withdrawal Comment from : k K |

I've found discover is bestyou deposit and it's available the next daycapital one i like for the physical branchesally takes a week and I'm thinking it's going to take a week to withdrawalif they allow it lolfdic so no worries if under 250k Comment from : Noah |
Revolut (I think they're a British online) offers 425 APY with a premium or metal plan I am a metal subscriber and love their app, the ease of use and the convenience of opening additional accounts in foreign currency It's great if you travel abroad Comment from : Martin Yanushev |

Great picks on the checking and savings account, Daniel I am currently using Ally Savings account and I love the “Buckets” feature brbrBtw, Sofi Checking and Saving accounts caught my attention Does Sofi checking account have Zelle payments? If so, that would be great and I don’t need to worry about depositing money through physical branches or ATMs I can transfer from my Chase Checking account to Sofi Checking Comment from : Kyaw Hein |
Signed up for the sofi checking account when you dropped the video The 25 on checking was unbeatable However, they just lowered it to 12 before I even got an interest payment brI'm definitely interested if you find other checking account with good APYs Saving accounts are great for the majority of my money but everyone has to have a checking account and it's hard to find good APYs for checking Comment from : Michael Violette |

If my husband and I open up an account with SoFi would that mean that we should close our accounts with our local bank? currently we both have individual accounts and a joint account with a local bank (Bellco) does it hurt our credit if we close those accounts? It seems redundant and confusing to have so many? Or would you say its better? Comment from : Heather Korinek |
So can I get Direct Deposit win capital one 360 savings account? Comment from : Tomi M Dawodu |
one of the best vids ive seen well done if you dont do direct deposit to get that 4 apy with sofi and keeping 12, why arent you at ally for 36? seems like youre leaving some potential interest on the table just curious of your thought process there Comment from : Matt Universal |
