First, my dehumidifier does not run 24/7 It starts and stops based on setpoint and humidity in the air On top of that it removes moisture from the air so it reduces A/C costs An A/C will also remove moisture as well as lower indoor air temperature brYour electric costs are MUCH cheaper than here in Michigan Consumers Power charges between (approximately) 145 cents to 18 cents per KW hour (as they charge distribution fees and all sorts of other fees) When I go over 600 KW hours I get about a 4 cent per KW hour surcharge If you lived here and used about the same amount of electricity you would get a bill of about double what you pay (about $600 / month)brI would be HAPPY to pay your tiny bill

I for one dry my cloths on a line outside weather permitting In the winter time I dry my cloths near a heating vent in the basement And yes I do have a gas furnace Just a few ways that I save money! Thanks for the info on the energy sucking dehumidifier!!!😀

Electric costs in New York State is 22 cents/kwh! But I use less electricity in a year than you do in a month But it is only one person in a small house with no cellar In 2009, I replaced my 28 year old fridge, my 250W tv that was old, and I built a new power friendly computer My usage was 250kwh per month, now it is 180kwh per month I calculated that in 9 years since, I have saved enough on my electric bill to pay for all the stuff I bought! My fridge is free I use all LED bulbs I now have some smart plugs where I can monitor usage on anything Good video - Dave

Josh, we have a lot in common Within the last couple of years I believe I've converted 90 of the lights in our home to LEDs Many of them are smart bulbs or on smart switches Adding additional insulation in the attic was one of the first energy items I did when we moved in here nearly 11 years ago I really wish I could share some images with you Screen captures and the like Maybe we can hook up via email?brbrAnywayThe Kill-A-Watt has been a part of our home for many years now Recently it has spent more time in the drawer however I've recently purchased and installed the Sense Energy Monitor Let me tell you I have a very similar Frigidaire dehumidifier in our basement and it's the greatest use appliance for energy in our home Even more so than my hybrid water heater! Here's where I wish I could share images with you Maybe we could create a group on facebook or something??brbrThat humidifier via the information being provided through the Sense Energy Monitor is informing me that it will cost me and estimated $58 a year at the current monthly rate After summer is over, that will change however Don't worry about the microwave, it's estimated at $3 per year The coffee maker is costing us a mere $7 per year I don't drink it any more and my wife makes small batchesbrbrThe sense is still learning appliances and it has a harder time with the energy efficient appliances It has not learned my refrigerator yet but has detected our old garage door opener It runs a single door and consumes 10X the amount of energy as the newer opener that is used daily on a double door I compared them with the kill-a-watt 450-600 watts for the old one vs 45-60 watts on the new opener That's right 10X!! But I cannot justify replacing it for the low cost of operationbrbrMan I could keep going on here Give that facebook group idea a thought I've never created a group but I'd be I'm sure I could manage
