The Beaten Paths
Is it still true that you should go to your bank first to see what you'd get for an interest rate? Or let the dealership do it? Was a time everyone was saying to go to your bank first

Buy a good used car for cash Keep it maintained and drive it until it begins to give you too much trouble All along, put that $500+ each month into a regular savings account When needed, buy another good used car for cash using that savings account You will never regret it Look at all the hassle these men discuss: monthly payments, credit score, and the like They never discuss wealth building because they just don't think that way
Comment from : Stephen Parsons

Went to a Toyota dealer today and it was very interestingI am retired and have much experience with car dealers, both good and bad, mostly bad What got my attention today was the high pressure attack as soon as you get out of the car didn't exist? They acted like they could care less if I was there and wanted me to come to them brThat just doesn't happen Either it is to hot as I'm from FLORIDA or business is that good as we have all talked about for awhile and wanted you to pursue them for a deal? It was very different and man we're the prices jacked up People need to stop paying these Inflated prices, so we can get them down again! brAnd know, that is not how they operate as I have been there many times and bought from them Oh well, just need to be patient and wait, because I can tell you first hand they have all the cards in their hand right now AND KNOW IT! stop padding these millionaire pocket!

just-a-waffle
My Audi dealer had a recent grad deal that helped me get my first car out of school, with no credit history other than credit cards, most dealers wouldn't even talk to me Was able to get down to 4 because of the college grad program

Ranger 231
Boy, all of us old timers learned these lessons the hard way didn't we? We didn't even have access to data about invoice prices, trending car prices for used cars and probably didn't really think about (gasp) a budget based on total cost to own We probably didn't fully comprehend the notion of interest Nicely done guys!
Comment from : Ranger 231

Rob s
Excellent video Wish your videos were around 30-years ago

appleiphone69
One item to add is type of tires and cost of replacement If your rocking low profile tires your more likely to pop a tire and damage a wheel along with shorter tread life Typically they are also more expensive Also some trims come with summer only tires
Comment from : appleiphone69

I really need a car due to my fathers van being broken into and now unable to drive He is now using his car that I would use, fortunately Thursday are his days off so I get to use it today Given the case that I need a vehicle for work is there something you recommend? I feel like I can get a new vehicle and like it’s time to get my own but also not sure if I should get a used one I’ve compared prices and some new vehicles seem like better deals than the prices on used vehicles Please advise

Buy a quality used car that's meets your needs rather than your wants and have it inspected by a trusted mechanic If you can't pay cash for something, you have not yet earned it

I'd suggest using annualcreditrerportcom which is the site mandated by the government where you can get a free credit report from the 3 major credit reporting agencies once a year You do have to pay for the score Some credit cards offer a free service so you can see your FICO (credit) score

Here’s one piece of advice that I wish I would have listened to When I was in A school for the Navy and still essentially a fresh recruit our Company Commander told us to not buy a car within 20 miles of a military base If you see signs or advertisements that say “we finance E-1 and up just bring your LES” stay away from those dealers They know that 85 to 90 of recruits fresh from advanced training and at their first duty station don’t have a car or have never bought a car themselves and will take advantage of them

Buy a few years used, unless its toyota (they can cost as much as New when used) Especially if a domestic brand This will help keep you out of the "Upside-down" land of car loans

What tips are there to help the second time buyers who can afford a luxury car but are told they may be approved for only 150 of the previous loan (otherwise it'll be ridiculous APR/money factor)?
