For people who live in high-RFI/EMI environments (apartment complexes, large office buildings, etc) a high-quality SHIELDED cable is critical for good sound/ picture THAT is worth paying for

Hi FOMO! Thanks for all the great videos The expensive AudioQuest HDMI cables you mentioned are not for home theater use; I can’t imagine them making a big enough difference to be worth their price in such a use case They are really only for use in ultra high-end HiFi audio systems, where cables make a very big difference in the sound for critical listening This week I obtained one such cable, and am using it as the I2S interface cable from a PS Audio SACD transport into a Holo Audio May KTE DAC The main transducer system I use with this setup is a HiFiMan electrostatic headphone system, which is known as a ruthless microscope into the source material In a system with this kind of resolving power, it is VERY easy to hear the difference cables make, this signal cable being no exception But again, it is most definitely NOT for use in a home theater rig, where neither the sound equipment nor the video signal could possibly be made that much different by it while simply playing a movie

Just bought an LG c2 OLED tv Plugged it into my rtx 3060ti and it was working well I started getting these purple horizontal lines flickering and tearing the screen I thought the tv was broken but it appears my hdmi cable (series s included cable) was not enough I got an 8k 60 rated cable 48gbps My problem was solved My hdmi 20 cable for the Xbox was not enough Also HDR wouldn’t work with the older cable I think it’s safe to say that if you get a modern OLED tv and a good graphics card You are going to need a 48gbps cable
Comment from : joshua thomas

Rafael Gonzalez
Hi there, thanks for the good content Let me give you some technical reasons of why long HDMI cables ( non optical )are expensive and sometimes unreliable Building a cable that is ready for transmitting 48Gbps means around 48 billions bits per second This requires something called controlled impedance which is a technique that assures precise impedance on the entire conduction line To do this manufactures place a bunch of fillers inside the cable along with the cooper line wires and they are all spaced out at a precise distance This is much easier to do when the cable is short, but when the cable start becoming longer it is very difficult to keep all those parameter consistent When the impedance start to miss-match at some point on the transmission line that creates signal reflections and the communication colapse ( other words, it does not work ) That is why the price goes up exponentially as the cable length increase Let’s not under estimate this technology It is pretty amazing we are able to transmit data at such high speed ( again, 48 billion bits per second ) that is smoking fast

Appreciate all the great info you share with us Have a quick question though I have a Samsung Q90T plugged to a denon 4700H via an audio quest cinnamon I got that wire after having a series of issues with eARC The sound keeps on clipping when watching Netflix I had a lower tier AV receiver, so I upgraded it, and I tried a bunch of different HDMI cables that claimed to be eARC compatible, but continue having the issue Any idea why this may be happening? I’ve looked through all the receiver’s settings and the TV settings, but still no luck Thanks again!

Typically cheap but well made HDMI cables are very reliable up to 15ft Going over 15ft is often when cheaper cables tend to start to get issues though due to cross talk or other reasons Good cables like Monster Cable or other brands will extend the reliability up to 20ft or slightly more brbrBut 30ft? Or longer? You will need HDMI fiber Typically 20 to 22ft is the cut off for solid reliability from good quality made cables from what I have seen brbrI dunno, if it's an outside interference issue, you could wrap your cable in aluminum foil perhaps? LOL! Who knows! 😅brbrBut solid built but cheap cables should be able to handle 15ft without issue brbrI've used them and have never had an issue I do have some Monster Cable as well But only because I got them a bit cheaper I can tell they are built with premium materials But that will likely only get you an extra 5ft at the end of the day HDMI copper wire isn't really made for over 20ft runs

Thanks for the info For me, the reason to spend a few dollars more and get HDMI 21 is so I don’t have to buy new cables as I upgrade my equipment The difference in price is minuscule Especially if you are running them through the walls I have an old TV but just got a Sonos Arc For various reasons I need some new cables My TV is too old for ARC but the Sonos sound bar is capable of eARC Spending a few dollars more and getting 21 means I don’t have to buy new cables later when I upgrade my TV

You forgot only 48gbps 21 can send UNCOMPREESSED audio If you want Dolby TrueHD and full-quality Atmos, you need 21 18gbps only sends compressed Atmos via Dolby digital plus But you are right it handles loseless 51brbrBut if you want Dolby TrueHD or UNCOMPREESSED AtmosYou need 21
Comment from : Brian Spero Jr

daniel_960_
The video isn’t really right brThere are no hdmi 20 or 21 CABLES! Only devices and their ports which support itbrThere are (premium)-Highspeed hmdi cables which are rated up to 18gbps And there are ultra high speed cables rated up to 48gbpsbrGenerally it’s only a rating Otherwise they’re quite similar So if the cable has good enough quality and is short a highspeed cable made for hdmi 20 could be also capable of carrying 21 singal at 40gbps even if it isn’t ultra high speed ratedbrSo your old cable could actually work just fine if you’re luckybrOr an uncertified ultrahighspeed rated cable could fail to deliver hdmi 21 signal because it’s bad quality, if you’re unluckybrSo the cables can be hit or missbrThere are officially by hdmi alliance certified cables which ensure you get the full promised specbrOnly the devices strictly determine whether it’s hdmi 21 or not and at which speeds and settings they output and receive
Comment from : daniel_960_

daniel_960_
You missed the point about consoles and 4k120 It’s not about rendering at that resolution but just outputting it You render lower and output 120 Because you can’t just change display resolution all the time, but rendering resolution So in a menu or some games you will have real 4k and while in most games you will have the 120fps rendered at lower res but still output at 4kbrSo hdmi 21 definitely makes sense on consoles So you can use 4k and 120fps on the tv without headache

i had 2 hdmi cables sitting around, no idea what one was from but the other was BELL, they left it here when replacing a problematic tv box, the BELL hdmi cable allows me to play games from my laptop to my big TV and i can play them at the same resolution as the TV(1920*1080)i think? it would be impossible to play any game on my laptop at this resolution but on the big TV no problem at all, i can't do this with the other hdmi cable, games are unplayable at that resolution and have to be lowered to 800*600(i think)and even at that resolution they don't play great such a big difference in the 2 cables, i wish i could buy ones similar to the bell cable to use with another tv i have, i hope your video will clear this mystery up for me, thanks bro

Unfortunatly none of the videos on youtube explains wether i need an 8k hdmi cable or just a 4k60 one, from my lg cx earc to my dolby atmos soundbar Can i just use ANY hdmi with ethernet, since i am solely transferring sound and not video? Why is there no info on this on the internet haha, so frustrating I have an 8k cable, but it is too short, and i have an old hdmi 20 with ethernet (not the 4k one) so can i use that, or do i have to buy a 4k60 one, or 8k? Haha

Thanks FOMO Yes this cud was helpful Knowledge is great Best to acquire many advisors But I don't know of I can trust Monoprice whe there's quite a few users who said their 48gpsb hdmi 21 cables were Not working for them There may be user error, or they don't know what they're taking about, or settings are no correct, I don't know The price is great, sure And I guess with returns on eBay or Amazon, I've got little to lose but time, if it doesn't work out I don't exactly understand why we're inundated with Generic brands of hdmi 21 cables however Where's Philips, Sony, LG, Samsung,on eBay and Amazon I don't see them hocking 21 cables at any price lol I don't particularly know enough about Ugreen (real brand), Kikomoko, Saikalee, (made those last two up lkl) So many out of left field random brands I see OK, TMI Thanks for your input
