I dont ever decorate for fall and rarely attend events We did do a pumpkin patch this year for our youngest daughters birthday Costumes is our big one My biggest issue is that I start christmas shopping in September so we have to budget for that

Agree with Rachael that we should not be spending $$ going bonkers on all things fall, BUT, here’s my perspective I have been collecting fall decor for 14 years from the clearance section during the off-season, garage sales, gifts from others, and several handmade items by our children Traditions are VERY important in the life of a child, so each year on the 1st day of fall we all decorate together I make pumpkin muffins, turn on some “fall” jazz, and we have great fun 🎃 🍁 🍂 brWhen the kids are older I will get rid of most of the decor, but for now it is a no-cost tradition they look forward to 😍brShow less

Love this list! brbrIn the Midwest it is already COLD in the fall 30s today so absolutely no risk of wasting AC money 😂 brbrI always say I “decorate with food” in the fall since I will literally pile-up the pumpkins and butternut squash and acorn squash and call it decor Our home looks less festive as the season wears on because we literally eat the decorations brbrWe hosted a campfire last weekend where everyone brought a different crockpot of chili or soup It was fun and fall-y without breaking the bank :)

I love Fall!!!!!!! But it is not worth getting into debt for Don't go into debt It's a ball and chain So much freedom in paying cash!!!! The world tells us we have to have more stuff and I fall for that sometimes because shopping makes me feel good about myself I feel bad about myself all day so shopping is a drug for me But I would feel worse about myself if I went into debt because of fall or Christmas No, no don't do it It's not worth it Things will never satisfy Only Jesus will Happy October! There's some great points in here but I have to admit that my New England self had to laugh (in good fun) at a few points:brbr* Air Conditioning and saving on utilities -- we're just hoping to make it through month end without needing to put the heat on!brbr* A "lot" of wood -- I actually had to look up Rick of wood! The folks I know with fire places and woodstoves are using it as a heating source so I'm used to hearing things in cords Apparently a Rick is a face cord and between 1/4-1/2 the size of a full cord so the folks I know who use a lot of wood go through upwards of 6-8 ricks during heating season

Wood can be expensive and many homes near me are heated solely by it and burn 55-6 cords per winter season My father sells it discounted at a cord for $150 but many other sellers charge $250+ but at either price, It's still a heck of alot cheaper than furnace oil

A few years ago I bought a fall wreath It has leaves on it I drag it out every year along with my fall mats I grow my own pumpkins I'm catching the minimalism train, thus Im weeding out the excess decorations I made my husband a grim reaper for a party we had years ago The kids followed him around They were enthralled No TV in our house I'm done You get the point

I saw a pumpkin spice candle for $129 offered online One day later it was sold out Seriously?? You can boil some spices on your stove and get the same scent wafting through your home People bought into the hype and I can almost guarantee you that the people who bought it blew their budgets for a candle

We are putting a woodstove in our home (free from my parents- they weren't using it) to save money on natural gas Thankfully, our 25 acres has enough wood to last us for several years! A lot of work and sweat but it's kind on our budget :)

We didn’t do our typical pumpkin, mum, hay, etc…just bought two pumpkins for our jack o lantern tradition Bought them for $389 a piece from Aldi! brAlso we are not buying a “costume” for my daughter We are going to use her wardrobe and dress up as a ballerina out of that She already had a tutu lol brTrying to save our money for a new family vehicle!brbrAlso a Fun free thing to do is just going to a national park and look at the gorgeous foliage 🍁🍂

I changed so much in the last 4 years and got rid of all my Fall decor except for one pumpkin that I’ve had since my 33 yr old son was one I also purged tons of Christmas decor It feels so freeing and liberating I’m becoming a huge minimalist! I can walk right by seasonal decor and never even look at it , 😊
