Live TV streaming services have gotten so expensive that I think traditional offerings like satellite will start seeing a resurgence I mean look YouTube TV is $73 dollars a month! We just decided to go back to Dish so we don't have to rely on internet connectivity to watch TV For those of us in hurricane prone areas it's a major consideration

In my area, satellite TV is necessary as our internet providers are horrible So it should stick around for a while as there is a large chunk of NA that still needs it

Im a techncian at directv When I started in 2018 we had about 20 techs in my office, now we have 4 We stay busy but who knows how much longer that will last since we lost sunday ticket to google

You claimed the older big c-band dishes were bad quality and not many channels That is the opposite of true When I was a kid, people I knew that had those were able to catch more channels than people with cable, and it was as good if not better quality even in bad weather vs DN and DTV

I live in a 3 story townhouse community I cancelled my Dish last year and they refused to come out to take the dish down I don't have a 3-story ladder so it's still up there Walked up on a hill overlooking the neighborhood the other day and could see several rusting dishes on the roofs of townhousesugh

I'm happy with DISh and DVR is a lot less clunky for fast forwarding or rewinding tv shows The streaming device I have, Roku, does NOT easily fast forward or rewind like my DVR

Don't like DirecTV because every time when thunderstorms came it was always not getting good signal, bill was super duper high, did not like a satellite dish on the side of my home so that's why I switched to fios I still have that dish on the side of my home today

I've had Directv since 2001, and the service has been quite good if also quite expensive I have never experienced prolonged outages due to storms However, in my rural area the telephone and internet services have problems, so Comcast is coming to my neighborhood I expect I will drop Directv and sign up with Comcast for TV, internet and my land line, hopefully at some reduction in cost for the package

I've had DirecTV, the price became absurd the 2nd year, so I just cancel and pay the ETF $200 is only one months bill I tried their Stream, and the PQ just is not there for me Dish is expensive ($120+), but it's consistent The same bill every month Not dealing with AT&T It seems every streaming service wants to charge $70+

I had a big C-band dish in the '80s It was great because I could see not only regular network TV but also lots of closed circuit things that wasn't intend to be seen by the public This ended when satellites converted to digital transmission and you had to have a special receiver with the proper digital decoder to receive each channel

I own this network and it was a huge benefit because they offered things that basic cable didn't offer at a higher quality like their DVR and package according to shows at once things like Xfinity couldn't compete because Xfinity had a horrible DVR system and recording system but now with all these different contracts and cancellations it seems like going to streaming services is better except for the fact that once you start actually buying all these different apps to stream they almost equal the amount you pay or even more than having dish and or cable besides movie channels there's really no benefit to having all of these apps you can't even get the best live sports unless you have dish or cable but maybe I'm thinking like an old person I am on the verge of being 40

We had Direct TV when they first came out but within a few years the monthly cost would go up every other month so we changed to Dish Dish prices stayed pretty stable for a while but it also has gone ape shit crazy

DirectTv is also moving to digital but only on smart TV which I think are way popular now and directTv is default installed to roku brand TVs I don't know about other TVs but if you don't have it on your TV you can have it on your phone
