In Norway I am not restrained between only these two coins tax free in that 1/4 oz range So I buy both of them I love the 24k bullion but I equally love the older gold coins So it just boils down to what is the better deal I go back and forth depending on what coins are available I will rather buy a lovely old 22k coin than a 24k undesirable one I think both are great and actually the old world coins might be undervalued when buying them close to spot

@MetalHeadStacker Thanks, found this useful Here in South Carolina we don’t pay tax on any bouillon but I do seek low premiums Love old Sovereigns because I usually pay less than 4 premium on them Again I love Britannia’s and the security features and honestly think it’s the best coin out there but I just love the sturdiness of an old Sovereign

The sovereign is recognised as a previously used coin for payment, the 1/4oz britannia hasn't been, however I do believe that the 1/4oz gold Queen's Beasts series has lifted the more affordable (as against 1/4oz QBs) 1/4oz gold britannia's acceptabilitybrIf you had a 1oz gold britannia no-one would be comparing it with sovereigns, though there is a case of using less currency that a 1oz Britannia would cost in favour of four sovereignsbrAfter all the purpose of stacking gold is to be able to release its store of value, at your time of choosing

Coins are not fully CGT freebrYou get taxed on the face value of the tender So sovereigns being £1 are better to buy than the 1/4 which are £25 ( as legal tender)

Being a coin collecter for 50 years ,I wouldn't buy any new coins only sovereign,s before 1900 , especially the shield backs ,you will always get at least your money back they are always in demand 🤔

chards and atkinsons premium more around 55 on sovs, dont see many of the 2022 sovs on ebay when i look, maybe not too popular with that colour
