10:50 I am not a mechanic, and I live in Europe, but oil change every 3,000 miles?! Most carmakers suggesting approx 7,500 miles in their manuals (It's still $8,000 savings in 45 years)

Rashid Temuri
I’m sure you’re financial genius and I don’t know too much about it but I disagree on many aspects You’re looking at var as investment, cars for families may not be investment it’s for usage and many of us buy or get new cars, in my case, Lease new cars because I need reliable transportation for my toddler, newborn and two older kids And the most new safe technology so this way I have peace of mind so peace of mind is not investment, and I am happy to take the cost
Comment from : Rashid Temuri

Harman S Bansal
I would agree with this guy if this video came before the pandemic and there was no shortage of cars In Canada, a 3-4 year old car costs close to a newer car In 2023, all the used cars and vehicle prices in Canada have increased significantly due to the so-called chip shortage It's a total mess!

My best savings period of my adult life was kicked off by having two used cars, both paid primarily with cash and small, low interest loans Both are paid off and both continued to run fine with the occasional repair needed (2013 model year cars…10 years old and being used as daily drivers!)
Comment from : D Kipu

What is Net Domestic Product?brbrEconomists subtract the depreciation of capital goods from GDP and call the result NDP But the purchase of durable consumer goods is part of GDP also Economists don't subtract consumer depreciation like cars
Comment from : psikeyhackr

15k miles is a lot to drive each year I suggest living closer to where you work

Comment from : Ben

Pete Grady
Buying used cars is less fun and fills risky And they are so expensive that I think it's better to buy something you like and keep it until it dies

I’m quite sure that as we land at all cars being electric…our electricity costs will quadruple as they have already done in places like Germany So don’t expect that somehow the “lost leader” of low cost electricity is going to stay around forever One last thing…most electricity generation stations will continue to burn fossil fuels well over 20 years from now
Comment from : Bravozulu

Lucky i bought a car and it has appreciated over 100 even though i drove it regularly since

Comment from : Red Libra

farioff
This is funny to see americans complaining, because they can buy cars from $10k, wich is basucally 2 or 3 salaries, while in Brazil we can buy cars from $20k wich represents 30 salaries If it feels bad for you, you can imagine how it is for us
Comment from : farioff

bluesader8
Funny thing is, people don’t want to sell cars between 30k-60k miles, specifically because the car is still good, but the value has fallen off Most people trade their car in after 1-2 years, they sell it at 100k-120k miles (as upkeep increases), or they drive it into the dirt These sweet spot deals are certainly out there, but they are not low hanging fruit

Or you can get a car the way I did I got a 2017 car in late 2018, early 2019 with 18,000 miles I paid roughly $6000 for it -- half the blue book value That was to buy out the other heir, my brother Of course inheritance is not usually how people get cars, but I knew the car, and I knew the car's history

Pro tip: if you live in an area with decent public transit, commuting by bus (or whatever public transit you got) can add up over time to be significantly cheaper than commuting by car

If you want style but a cheap car that you can afford, I'll always recommend a used Toyota, Honda, and Kia The brands aren't respected as much but they make good looking A-B cars and if you pick the right one they'll be reliable if you take care of it

Oscar Terrazas
Well one thing when i was helping mom get a car Buying a used car would probably be if you buy it out of pocket Looking at the interest rate for the used vehicles vs new ones with no interest rate would cause to pay pretty much the same $ as the new onebrPS: average miles driven per year is 8000-12000 Driving 15000 per year is a lot tbh
Comment from : Oscar Terrazas

One thing to take into account car wise though would be trade workers, buying a new truck set up to do your job could be a 100k ordeal If i could haul 3000lbs of tools and a 16 foot ladder in a prius i would But unfortunately to do my job and service peoples homes i need a big oll gas gussler with the power to deliver my tools
Comment from : Dakota McIntyre

Not having a car is the worst for me Most of the good jobs were way too far for me, i would spend 2hrs back and forth on the bus Do you value your time or your money? I value my time more

I have ALWAYS purchased a 2-3yo low mileage Toyota or Honda Never regretted it Last one, 2013 Prius (16,000 miles) bought in 2016-now in late 2023, I've only replaced brakes (outside of oil changes) plus I have saved a TON in gas, getting 40-50 miles per gallon In 80,000 miles I've put on, I've saved over $6,000 compared to my ICE Camry that I had before (The Prius at THIS point only cost me $10,000-due to fuel savings) I also have never financed a car
Comment from : Steven J

Jason Wareing
My lowered 1999 Chevy Silverado has over 200,000 miles and runs well I've garaged it, repaired it and maintained it since I've bought it off the dealership lot new Best part is I receive tons of compliments on it and ask if it's for sale Truthfully i could care less of others opinions on what I drive or my social status Every day above the ground being a father to my son is a blessing from God above He's whom i hope to get approval from

As a car lover i still feel like it is unfair to say that it is a horrible investment I get what people mean But for some guys a car can mean alot of fun So i simply do not see it as an investment in the first place Just compare it to an expensive vacation in a fancy hotel The money will be gone 100 That is much worse
Comment from : Dings Bumsti

K-dogg
Always gonna have a house payment always gonna have a car payment brThat is IF you actual "qualify" for these! brMost DON'T; and THESE are the two biggest ASSETS we have (though tons don't), COSTING an arm and a leg, and DEPRECIATING madly! It's EITHER school, car, or home, and CAN'T do without either! And all three are outrageously out of control EXPENSIVE!!

I am 70 years old, in my life I have owned 5 cars, 2 sedans and 3 pickups, 3 have been new I have never financed a vehicle and I have never paid collision insurance The big ticket item you neglected to mention is collision insurance If you own the car outright you don;t need to purchase collision insurance In 54 years of driving I have never needed to have a car in a body shop, so do you really need collision insurance?
Comment from : Mark Len

Almost everyone, including the media, is anticipating a market catastrophe, and as a result, many are turning a blind eye to the opportunities in the market I recently began investing in stocks and it was the best choice I've ever made If you genuinely want to be financially secure, disregard everything the media is suggesting The market offers a lot of chances Maximize your use of it

If you know how to fix a car, you can buy a use car Used car constantly needs some repairs when you add up it cost the same as a new car $500 here $1,000 there like changing a timing belt, need new tires, new muffler and so on
Comment from : Bonqy /flowers 🌺 888

Double D
The part with the oil change is completely wrong Basically you need to change your oil once a year on modern cars You can actually earn more money for the time you are going to waste in learning and changing your oil on your own

The Crazy Files Channel
One cost saving measure I take advantage of is I share an insurance plan with my parents Since I still live in the same house as them, we're able to have a family plan to get all our vehicles on it, and when we pay a yearly cost instead of monthly, it costs less I spend about $700 per year on my car insurance as a result, so about $58 per month on average And because I work from home, I only drive when I go to the store, or a doctor's appointment, etc Most weeks I don't even drive at all This has resulted in only needing to refill the tank once every couple of months or more In fact I just recently refilled the tank for the first time in over two months And as long as you take about 5 minutes per week to let the car run, it won't ruin your tank I've only spent about $140 on gas this year as a resultbrbrI'm also planning to buy a bike sometime soon to give myself the option to drive less, which'll be really nice Honestly, I'd love to just go car free, but I live in Texas Texas is one of the most blatantly car dependent states in the US, so sadly you really don't have a choice here You'll be lucky to even find the occasional sidewalk here And if you do find a sidewalk, drivers complain about how they take up room on the road that could allow more cars, and people who use sidewalks are often ridiculed by some drivers that pass by for being too poor to have a car Pisses me off
