WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE FAILTO REALIZE THAT CARLA JEAN IS VIRTUALLY AND LITERALLY SHOOTING BLANKS????brbrAnton's last line in this scene is "I got here the same way the coin did" This infers that:brbr1) Anton could've been 50/50 that, despite his word, he was going to after Carla Jean and kill her since he got the money and returned it to the man who hired him Of course, If he had not gotten the money, it would be a statistical certainty that Carla Jean would be killedbrbr2) Regardless of how he got there, once he said "I wouldn't worry about that," AT THAT POINT that she was certain to die After hearing her speech, she persuades Anton to make an incredibly-generous offer to reduce her chances of dying by 50 However, she maxes out her intellectual and tactical abilities when she not only (foolishly) declines to call the toss - but also calls him "crazy" He's initially a bit surprised that an everyday rube challenged and refused to call it (it definitely wasn't the first time), but also insulted and somewhat annoyed that he has to do more work than he wanted to brbr3) This scene should've ended once Chigurh left the house The car crash (inaccurately) has vibes of the false aspect of Karma for too many viewers, and overly-weakens Anton's character His character is humanized plenty by not being on his A-game going as he didn't kill Moss, and even worse - getting shot pretty badly by Moss, who in his eyes is an amateur It's abundantly clear that Anton, though still excellent at what he does, is starting his descent from his prime This fits the theme of the movie Comment from : gynandroidhead |

When you realize carla is the only character that interacted with a three main characters and none of those three met each other Comment from : Nav |
Dude was just sitting there when she opened the door She shoulda run out the damn house! Comment from : Alex Quinonez |

This scene demonstrates why the Christian god is as perverse as Chirughbrbr 'The coin ain't got no say It's just you' brbrJesus, are you listening? Comment from : Just a sec |
Why did'nt you escape out the window Comment from : Warren G |

When he said “I wouldn’t worry about it” I think it means that she doesn’t have to worry about her bill problems and will also see her mother very soon 🥲 Comment from : Kovy |
3:09 This might be the most cold hard cut in Film They refuse to show you Carla Jean dying it just immediately goes to later as Chigurh is leaving and checking his shoes for the blood he avoids, the Coens just let you to piece together the cold reality as though the film doesn't care about her life, just like Chigurh Comment from : Meris |
This scene demonstrates well how women are incapable of understanding masculine honor Comment from : Pupper |
Anton Sugar Comment from : Truth Hearer |
every determinists wet dream Comment from : Carlito Burrows |
Was this trully cut from the movie? Seems like a pretty big scene to introduce to make it complete Comment from : Random guy with a baseball batte |
He reminds me of Adam Driver, the way they talk Comment from : Avon Briar |
I like this conversation because it feels cathartic almost Comment from : Hyuna the Hyena |
It is not about the coin toss Sometimes he does it for some random people he meets but if for example he needs a car and you stop you are death No coin tossbrIn this scene the coin toss is just a game for him Comment from : Walker Talker |
For a scene without any violence and a dialogue almost in whispers, it seems just as bloody and noisy as those we saw in the rest of the movie Comment from : MisterNewOutlook |
one of the worst movies ever made ghosts of mars was better than this AIDS Comment from : gootube sucks |
She is SO good! Comment from : Andrej Csuka |

I suppose the final word of this film is in favor of free will Even if he killed her she forced his (AKA Fate’s) hand by refusing to call it Comment from : SNYY3 |
The fact he was willing to give her a chance to save herself, in spite of the promise he made to Llewellyn, completely proved her point that he’s the one in control Comment from : Ferghal Icious |
The chapter in this part of the book is so intense The Coens are the only ones Comment from : daniel aguilera |

He's not part the management so for him it's just part of the all job thought she isn't that bright not making a decision or not calling it left her fate to him she neither gave him power or took it away she didn't play can't lose what you don't put in but you can win either 😮 her husband and her actions put her and him together that's all Comment from : william cooper |
عازة عصام سير تلف Comment from : Adil Zbir |
In the whole movie, it shows Anton taking care of his boots, for example, taking his boots off in the hotel massacre or lifting his feet up when the Bounty Hunter Wells' blood starts to pour on the floor So Carla Jean's death actually isn't ambiguous at all, because the moment he leaves the house, he checks his boots for blood Comment from : goggles |
So did he kill her? Comment from : bobcougar77 |
He killed her? Comment from : Sylwia & Adrian |
I wonder if it would've been more interesting if Anton bdidn't/b check his boots before leaving? It would leave Carla's fate much more ambiguous, whereas with him checking his boots for blood, it more or less confirms he killed her Comment from : Tetragon 213 |
You can only wonder, the fact that he checks his boots is just so perfect to show us that he killed her, and probably in a bloody quiet horrible mess, but still he is just so chill about it RIP Carla Jean, you don't have to worry about paying the bills anymore Comment from : Mario Lamothe Almendares |
Nahhhhh Comment from : Peanut |
“I know’d you was crazy when I saw that haircut of yours” Comment from : Internet User |
After reading the book , this scene seems so bland Man they could have improved that Comment from : George |
Carla Jean And Anton Chigurh Comment from : Maribel Tecun |
Somewhere between the lines 'I wouldn't worry about that'' and 'I need to sit down', Carla Jean realizes what's in store for her Comment from : Michel Stageman |
At 2:08 Anton seems to admire the way in which Carla Jean accepts her upcoming death What makes Anton so disturbingly insane is that he considers this as her destiny and not his choice Comment from : Michel Stageman |
Girlsfind a man who never breaks his promises, Like Anton Chigurh 🙏 Comment from : DoesColder |
She is killedjust if anyone was curious on if she changed his mind Comment from : Martin S |
And why did he killed her in the first place ? Comment from : FitnessJo |
"it's just you"brHe checks his shoes because he feels he's not free from responsibilitybrHe is not the embodiment of fate at this moment Comment from : 요리동생 |
I found the affirmation of her taking off power from him by refusing to call it dumb He made a promise! He was being generous It was dumb from her not to call it Comment from : pedro a m |
“I wouldn’t worry about it” lmao that’s cold Comment from : Danny Sample |
At the end he checked his shoes of there's np blood on them Comment from : HAMZA |
She beat him in a argument about his coin and he opted to leave Right before she could gasp in almost losing her life after Anton leaves the room He comes back before the threshold and fires, catching her in the chest only she doesn't die He stands over her and fires a head shot to end it Comment from : Jthrillz 728 |
Hmmm And where is his sound-suppressed Remington 11-87 semiautomatic shotgun in this scene?!?! Comment from : Djoka Minic |
Anyone notice the sounds of the kids bikes resembles a Rattlesnakes rattle? Comment from : ReservoirFrogs |
By refusing, this little southern widow challenges Anton in a way no other person does throughout the whole movie It shakes him to his core, hence the later car crash I love this movie Comment from : Mark R |
She could have easily ran away Comment from : Razyvids |
2:52 Chigurh looks downright alien in this scene The dark background, his restless looking eyes and his smile showing no teeth, absolutely haunting Comment from : Taco Bender |
I love the way she says “not like that Not like you say” It’s such a plain way of refuting chigurh’s view of everything that has transpired She may not know what exactly happens, but she refuses to believe that her husband was a bad man - she knows him too well Comment from : TovByte |
This is the most disturbing scene Anton kills her simply because he promised to do so before killing Moss Wicked at its best Comment from : Ghostkik |
My interpretation:brbrAnton has assigned a sense of destiny to the coin that allows him to believe he is not responsible for his own actions He offers the same choice to many people, and when they call it, they are signing a contract, giving their consentbrbrWhen Carla refuses to call it, he is shaken For the first time, he is forced to take sole responsibility for a murder which serves no greater purpose It's not part of his mission, it's not self defence, it's not revenge There's no story he can tell himself about how the coin has been journeying for decades to arrive at this momentbrbrThere's just his arbitrary code born from an insane mind Comment from : PaddyRoon7 |
I like to think she lived Comment from : Darksky1001able |
Did he kill her at the end? Comment from : mohammed hamad |
I hate saying thisbut she did have a choice to live, albeit from a random coin flipbrThe outcome could be said to save her years of grieving her Mom and husbandbrI'm not justifying Antonalthough I wish he would have walked away from principle just once and let her bebrAt that point, she'd suffered enough Comment from : 67marlins |
Carla: b"You got no cause to hurt me"/bbrbrAnton: b"Call it"/bbrbrMe: 🥤😭🍿 Comment from : •Lιuєr Mιhσu• |
This was never about the money to Anton It was about principle and respect Carson said it best "Even if you gave him the money, he'd kill you just for inconveniencing him He's a peculiar man You may even say he has principles that transcend drugs or money" Comment from : Kevin McLaughlin |
There's no weapon with him so I think he kills her like that police officer in the beginning Comment from : No Pl |
If you have any doubts on whether or not he killed her or not- literally the next scene is him checking his shoes to see if he got blood on them Comment from : Factual Opinion |
I would love it if they made a prequel to Antons backstory Always intriguing how someone like him become psychopathic killers Comment from : Timothy Gumenik |
Carla Jeans refusal calling it shows us how this generational changes catch up to everyone, even Chigurh: all his life he was at the top of the food chain but suddenly a southern woman refuses to go along with his games and tells him his accountable for his actions and immediatly after that he crashes his car in the most stupid way Comment from : TheBlackCat |
I wouldn't of chose the coin toss either Most physcos are going to hurt or kill you regardless, so why give them the satisfaction and play the game? I would of rushed him Possibly getting a good hit or two before he most likely strangled me to death If I was lucky enough to grab hold of a solid object, I would of bashed his head in until the contents ran along the floor board like an egg But most likely I would of died Fuck it Comment from : Tila Sole |
It was a great movie until June 2020; now that I see the lack of racial diversity I hate this movie now And it needs to be destroyed Comment from : Geoff |
What are these comments? She isn't smart nor she won against him by not calling it, she tried to make him responsable of his homicides when, for Chigurh, there is no free will, in his crazy mind he cannot choice therefore those homicides aren't his responsibilitybrbrShe would have got more from him by saying "call it yourself" therefore creating the idea of a choice in his mind, that is, if he can choose between head or tails he can choose between killing or not killing her, without the idea of choice Chigurh isn't responsable, he will kill you Comment from : Emanuel Lopez |
Pretty interesting deviation from the book There she actually does call it, and she gets it wrong In retrospect, they should have written this scene closer to how it is in the book Would have been more suspenseful imo Comment from : walid amin |
When I saw this scene, I wasn't sure if he killed her and they didn't show the scene because she is too likeable or if he just left What are your thoughts? Comment from : RScottsman |

What a weird and compelling flick, each scene is analyzed for meaning As Chigurh leave the house, he checks for blood on his shoes, yes, he killed her Comment from : chucknchar T |

So if this dude is checking for blood trails, why does he check his boots after walking through the whole house and the front porch? Wouldn't there be footprints already? Comment from : Aarushi Yadav |

Anton Chigurth vs Two Face… who would win? Comment from : Paul Bennett |
I love the symbolism of Anton and the coin In the store scene where he forces the cashier to call it, he tells him not to let his "lucky quarter" get mixed in with any others, because it will become "just a coin - which it is" And here, when Carla tells him the coin has no say, it's just him, his only response is that it got there the same way he did And finally, he gets into a car crash shortly afterwards and lives, but is grievously injured and forced to limp away before authorities showed up brAnton may seem like an embodiment of fate, some inhuman and destructive force of nature that no mortal can beat or understandbut he isn't He's no more powerful or invulnerable than the coins themselves He is in a sense just like the lucky quarter he left with the male cashier He may be "lucky" in a sense, but ultimately, he's no more lucky or special than any other Just another "coin" Comment from : K-Blue |
"Call it"brbr"Who's that speaking here? Is somebody speaking?" Comment from : Fredrik |
Do you ever wonder if Chigurh actually believes in his whole fate philosophy or if he just uses it as an excuse to execute people Comment from : Allaboutnothing 65 |
I live in this house! It’s in Las Vegas NM and we still have the same doors with clear handles, paint, candle lighting along the top and the damaged wall paper boarder all seen here in this clip Pretty crazy! Only the interior of my house was used, the exterior is a different house I plan to do a video comparison to show everything that matches still Comment from : DamionChrist |
Does he really say "No" in the beginning? I can't hear it at all Comment from : Ilya Bykov |
Why he need to kill that helpless woman c'mon anton! Comment from : isko peta |
Lol, I don't see why anyone would even think Chigur is confused about or even disconnected by Carla Jeans' refusal to play the coin toss The old man didn't blow his fuse when he refused to play brCarla Jean may not understand the people in this world, but she knows the game is bullshit Chigur flipping the coin for her after all he went through and now to "give his word" only to end up with a game of chance is the biggest mystery of the movie Why? Comment from : TheReedable |
