If the coins are modern junk and just bullion value than making them shiny won't make much difference because its due for the melting pot anywaybut if you do this to a hammered or early milled piece you have effectively fucked it a charles I shilling would effectively lose 75 of its value once you've done this Comment from : Dreadfull Guppy |

Hi sandy I find the best way to clean silver coins or surging silver is with toothpaste and a tooth brush the results are fantastic Comment from : The Highland Detectorist |

H I mate , some good results , I use a shallow baking dish with the foil and soda and gently heat on the cooker or simmer, the heat helps the chemical process ok matebest wishes Rob Comment from : THE GALLOWS DETECTORS |

Certainly made a difference, chap! One thing, though - it makes no difference which side of the foil you use One side is shiny because it makes contact with the steel rollers and the other doesn't Both sides have exactly the same properties Anyway, after having tried all sorts of methods, the easiest I've found on pure silver coins is just go over it with a pencil rubber It highlights the raised detail but leaves the darker recesses, giving excellent contrast Doesn't work on every coin and it certainly won't remove encrustation but worth giving it a go before faffing about with other treatments Comment from : John Finnis |
|
A new piece of foil will work better Flip the item if you like What is closest to the foil will clean faster brIt certainly makes a big difference Comment from : terese lapree |

Cool video buddy it doesn't work very well with the 50 silver coins as you noticed if you can get a hold of some saw dust and use it as an abrasive it helps and stops you scratching the coins but the 50 ones shouldn't mark very easily Comment from : The big man metal detecting |

Thanks for sharing the video Sandy! I usually clean the coins in vinegar afterwards I use this method with baking soda & aluminium foil, because the 40-60 Silver Coins gets some kind of a dull surface Take care buddy & Ps I have a GAW, if your interested in more silver coins 👍🏻😎 Comment from : Hunting History |

Great video Cheers for sharingps gave you a wee shoutout on my last but one vid ATB Comment from : The Kruzer Boys |

Great video Sandy and a good way to clean the dirt off the coins as long as you don't rub them One word of warning though buddy is to try and not use metal to pick up the coins as metal on metal is very bad Wooden tweezers are great as are toothpicks for picking out dirt under a magnifying glass but don't use metal as it will scratch the coins really easy buddybrbrATB GL & HH brLittleJohn brMetal Detecting 🇬🇧 Comment from : Electric Wheels |
