Great job Daniel I have done this myself and it doesn't harm the coin at all or cause problems when you have them graded it just gets the coin back to it's original look and surface This method is what you pay the grading Companies for when you get them to do coin restoration - Conservation If you know what you are doing you can do the same thing your self instead of paying to have it done Comment from : Mike Smith |

Daniel, I really wish you had stuck with the term "conserving" and not used "cleaning" or "restoring"brbrCleaning and restoring kind of triggers "renewing" or "rejuvenating" mentally brbr"Conserving" would be more like stopping bad issues the coin has like PVC contamination or poor environmental toning that leads to more severe damage and kind of triggers the brain into thinking about it as "preserving for the future" brbrWhen graders use the term "cleaning" they are referring to scrubbing or sanding or rubbing with a caustic or abrasive which is an absolute no-no brbr100 agree that conserving coins with environmental/poor storage issues is the right thing to do Still though some toning is a good thing and making every coin "blast white" is the wrong move A coin that's 100 years old should look like it's 100 years old, it shouldn't look like it was minted yesterday and automatically triggers my "cleaned" radar brbrThe level you conserved the coins in this video at I feel is completely acceptable and actually makes a "issues" coin presentable and preserved without making it a "problem" coin Comment from : Sparky Jones |
I bought a Lincoln cent book at auction for about $10 Some of the coins had a tarry substance on them I soaked them in lacquer thinner and the stuff came right of The 1918 S and the 24 D were ms 63 Pretty good for $10 Comment from : Jume Mowery |

I have used Acetone with a Q-Tip, by rolling over the PVC area It will remove the PVC infected area, But with that said I would never attempt this with a coin of high value If you have a coin of high value Send it to a Professional cleaning! Love you vids Comment from : Mike Brewer |
Will E Zest remove PVC or is it just acetone? Comment from : Toni Zumpano |

What was that product called again? How long in the solution Comment from : Numismatic Stacker |
I think the title of this vid can be taken two ways I took it the way I see others did I thought it meant something to the affect of, "How I restore Peace Dollars with before and after shots" Personally I like to try acetone (polar solvent) first and it cannot react with the metal After that, if no success, I move to Xylene (non-polar solvent), and finally the ones you mentiuon if the previous ones do not work And sometimes I use minute amounts of said chemicals on Q-tips instead of subjecting the whole coin surface to the chemical Comment from : Lee Brewer |
What about copper coins?animal urine on Lincoln cent 974Lincoln cent wasn't in great conditionbut it was a cool coin but I? I was taught by my dealer with MS-70 on cloudy or toned coins including proofs Gently dip q tip in it and very lightly roll it across coin surface wash off with water and pat dry on cotton towel Worked great but don't use this on penny's:) even tho it says you can it makes them a weird color Comment from : 40belowful |
