Small correction on component sizes, here's what they claim on their website, but our Medium came with a 100mm stem which seems to be an anomaly:brHandlebar width end to end: XS, S: 400 mmbrM, L:420 mmXL: 440mmbrStem Length: XS, S, M: 90mmbrL, XL: 110mm

10:10 - They route the bowden correctly When you're turning right, the bowden arc has room to move without interfering with the head tubebrIf you run it directly, it will rub on the head tube and eventually scrape off the paint Abrasion is a b**ch :)

Stephen Mould
I have seen them and wondered After your video I bought one to use as my commuter 40 mile round trip and winter bike Size XS last one in shop I changed the bars to Deda as recomended and went down to 38cm from 40cm Saddle not so cheap but comfort is king I also put clipless pedals on cheap from Halfords I changed 80mm stem to a 90 cheap from Decathalon and I have fiddled with tyre pressure now 65 front 68psi rear to dampen harshness of ride (compared to my Carbon bike) I have also ordered some TPU tubes again cheap Decathalon cut my stearer tube and shortened my brake lines during free service for free! I average 18mph and have done 500 miles on it I really cant fault it The chain has jumped off a couple of times but that was my fault other than that it is superb value for money grab a bargain !
Comment from : Stephen Mould

Matus Dekanek
I have one of these, but here in Czechia it comes with disc brakes and I guess a bit better wheels And a bit higher price tag, roughly 530 GBP(it was substantially cheaper last year, but the prices here went up in general due to inflation) So far I consider it a great first road bike - and for that price practically the only one

In Russia you can have an aluminium bike with hydraulic brake (Tektro m285) for this money I trustworthy local brand with more than 15 years behind its back

Jonathan Cooper
Will you do one of these on another Triban like the RC500?
Comment from : Jonathan Cooper

I love Decathlon I bought their high end bike and the value for money was unbelievable Glad to see the same holds true for the bottom end
Comment from : Gregory Huboux

joe duvall
I’m enjoying the bike so far wwwyoutubecom/post/UgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA My only real complaints are the brakes and the pedals I feel like a bike designed for bigger people should have much larger pedals and more heavy duty brakes I’ve only gotten two really good rides out of it, minimal downhill action, and the brakes feel like they’re already going out A larger person has more momentum, so I think this wasn’t thought through very well Also, I wear size 13-14 wide shoes My feet cramp up on these pedals that are clearly made for smaller feet Since I’m not a pro rider (and I don’t think many are who purchase this bike) I don’t think that the straps on the pedal are necessary at all None of this takes away from the enjoyment I get from riding, however I’ll just head to a bike shop to improve on a few things
Comment from : joe duvall

Randal Bladel
My only concern would be the carbon fork Cheap carbon components are always suspect, and the result of a fork failure can be catastrophic for the rider Carbon composite doesn’t fail like metal; which usually gives at least some warning It fails suddenly and completely
Comment from : Randal Bladel

Randal Bladel
Oh, heck, I’ve been riding loose ball cup and cone hubs for over 50 years Buy some cone wrenches and a tube of grease, learn how to clean and repack the hubs, and quit whining If you want to protect the bearings more it’s fairly simple to rig up some O rings as bearing seals, or use the old British trick of using greased twine You’re spoiled!
Comment from : Randal Bladel

Josh B
I rode my vintage steel frame bike with cup and cone bearings for hundreds of miles in all conditions, a refresh once a year and I was good to go again
Comment from : Josh B

twopogosticks
Thanks for all your fun and helpful videos I am almost tempted to change my career and enter the bike fitting industry I ride mostly XC/Trail MTB I got Rockrider XC900 (RS Reba, GX, Mavic Crossmax) as a second bike It is really fast XC Hardtail I instantly converted to tubeless, after a year struggle gave up and changed breaks to SLX, carbon handlebar and most importantly full length internal routing for the rear derailleur Overall very good bike for the money! Cheers!

Charles Verrier
You know there are bikes on Amazon for £150 right? What’s your definition of entry-level?

lana c beks
Hello, I need some advice According to the guide, I should have chosen M for my height of 5'9" (175 cm), but it's not available What do you think, should I go for the S or the L? I’m newbie
Comment from : lana c beks

Lhomme
Decathlon is the only discounter I feel comfortable going to Their stuff is often amazing value, though sometimes they are not actually as cheap as wish or some other scam What they won't do is sell you crap The only thing that is a bit hard about them is the fact that they cater to so many sports, so choice can be limited at times All in all an amazing shop with truly revolutionary value especially on their store brands
Comment from : Lhomme

Patrick Stoof
Very cool review So nice to have a real world review of an entrance level bikebrbrI bought my son a mountainbike from decathlon some years ago Same thing: great value and punching well above it’s weight
Comment from : Patrick Stoof

Benjamin blabla
I had a Van Rysel RCR ultegra carbon frame from Decathlon (their own Brand), a cheap and fantastic bike As well, I think it was very good looking (black/grey) Changed the wheels, a real missile 7,4kg rim brakes
Comment from : Benjamin blabla

Freddie Pitts
I did 600km ish on an entry level decathlon bike Had no problems, and it took a beating!
Comment from : Freddie Pitts

AncapCooper
Is there anyway to hold Decathlon to account? I received the same bike off them and it came with a buckled wheel and a used state Lots of ware and tare They wont send a replacement and they want delivery money off me to return the faulty bike who I sent them back I refuse to pay it so I told them to put it in the skip in anger So far no reply from them
Comment from : AncapCooper

Lemercier Steve
I have been riding a scott carbon for 17 years I've reached the point where everytime I need to replace a piece of the bicke it feels like a treasure hunt (if I want the exact same piece) 😂
Comment from : Lemercier Steve

myounges
The reason why this cheap bike is surprisingly well reviewed is because all brand bikes are over priced This bike is not the greatest but compared with a bike x3 times the price with almost the same tech but a nice brand behind the price makes you feel you made the right choice to spend more Let's all stop and think what we were paying for bikes 5 years ago
Comment from : myounges

Gibbo263
Got my partner the next one up from Triban (cant remember the name), fitted with Sora its an amazing deal

Stay Zero
MicroShift really is quite good especially for the price point I use R8 triple shifters with Shimano Altus derailleurs on my gravel bike (converted hybrid) and I like the setup so much I did the same on two vintage road bikes I rebuilt

Michael Bæklev
@Cade_MediabrbrHi guys! Love the channel and love the “budget bike” episodesbrbrSince you’ve featured a Walmart bike, I was wondering if you wish to test a bike from Denmark?brbrIt’s sold as a “gravel bike” but my friend just bought one and we set it up like a road bike Great ride from my experience Specs is:brbrSize 53 or 57 (top tube length fits this)brShimano Sora shiftersbrShimano Sora CranksetbrShimano Sora Front derailleurbrShimano Sora Rear derailleurbrShimano CS-HG200-9 cassettebrTektro Mechanical disc brakesbrAluminum framebrAluminum Handlebars and seatpostbrPrice tag: 349 GBP (2999,00 DKK)brbrIf you got any interest in reviewing it, let me know and we can figure something outbrbrI’m not associated with the seller, just found a great beginners budget bike for my mate and was genuinely excited over this one
Comment from : Michael Bæklev

Noonecaresworkharderorsmarter
Thanks for the video Newbie to cycling, but I have done a few ultra runs and am looking into getting triathlons and eventually ironmans and wonder if @cade_media or anyone in the comment section who has knowledge about bikes would recommend I got this bike or whether it is worth spending the extra money and would recommend another one? Thanks
Comment from : Noonecaresworkharderorsmarter

Deputy Chief Whip
You're lucky to get it for that price It's €550 here in the Netherlands and that's after discount normally €650
Comment from : Deputy Chief Whip

brian mcmahon
why would you opt to get a small frame over a medium?
Comment from : brian mcmahon

Jonathan Bouchard
A couple of my buddies bought bikes at Decathlon, and enjoyed them so much they have upgraded to different brands - one or two of my other friends bought other budget bikes, and don't cycle any morebrbrI buy stuff at Decathlon not because they are cheap, but because their range of accessories is great The cheapness means I buy other stuff while I am there, just because they have it!
Comment from : Jonathan Bouchard

Manny Calavera
I agree They often just have older, but proven and functioning components Best value for me is still to go second hand and do a thorough cleaning, repair and maintenance
Comment from : Manny Calavera

Sven Lima
The key word with cheaper bikes (or things in general) is always: durability A 350 bucks bike that lasts half as long as a 700 bucks bike is technically also a 700 bucks bike Maybe my Ultegra bike is cheaper than a Microshift or Sora bike because I can ride 20'000 kilometers with it before I have to replace it whereas I might ride a Microshift only for 5000 kilometers (arbitrary numbers just for making an example!)
Comment from : Sven Lima

Steve
Given how insane bike prices have become and not everyone has the budget (or the the will) to spend several thousand, I appreciate this video very much Can see me buying one of these at some point As a casual cyclist, who just wants to go out for a short blast, this would do me fine
Comment from : Steve

Patrik Potoczky
What do yall think about this bike but gravel version?
Comment from : Patrik Potoczky

Nikolay Khrustalev
In Netherlands the discounted price for the same model is 550 EUR, it is almost 40 higher than in UK And only RC100 model costs 300 EUR after a discount
Comment from : Nikolay Khrustalev

brudla
Same bike at our country in Decathlon for 534£ lol
Comment from : brudla

IceCenders
Bought the RC100, similar product, just a bit less powerful I'm pretty happy with it, even though the ratios aren't great and on steep hills I wish I had a bigger cog at the back I got the squeaky noise as well with this piece of rubber on the back wheel, a bit of grease fixed that up, but it's a shame they don't come properly greased, at first I thought my bike had a serious problem
Comment from : IceCenders

KaiC
I like their cloths, but i stay away from their bikes They are cheap and good for Kids But their durability is bad, hence the cheap price
Comment from : KaiC

Four strings Enough🇺🇦
300 pounds is a price for like very confident intermediate bike in my country
Comment from : Four strings Enough🇺🇦

Nadeem Hanna
Please review the Wizard Lightning 33 from Merlin cycles! Sora drivetrain for £425 must be the best value bike around!
Comment from : Nadeem Hanna

Vali T
Decathlon is pretty impressive with some of their products, they always surprise mebrbrI've gotten my girlfriend a Rockrider ST 530 27,5'' for just under $400 and it has 1x9 speeds and pretty decent hydraulic breaks brbrI'm pretty picky with quality / quality ratio usually and this was a steal
Comment from : Vali T

NutIsLucky
What about 135 pound bike? Is it good enough to be called as entry level bike?

I have the Triban RC 500 Disc and I'm super happy with it! I'm going to start my first longer tour on it next Monday It was 750 Euros and I can't complain about the value for money Originally, I wanted to get one of their gravel bikes but they were completely sold out all of the time so I got a road bike after talking to one of their employees who assured me that you could theoretically put the gravel tires on the road bike
Comment from : chrst91

oof
Just ordered a Serious Gravix Comp for 900€brI think the store brands have come a long way and offer value that you wont get with established brands
Comment from : oof

RobM
£350 is entry level?! Cycling is expensive these days

Phil Self
I have a Van Rysel Rcx and it’s a great bike though straight away I put on a bigger cassette as it only has 1 chainring brBeing 59 I find I needed an easier climbing gearbrThe stem seems very long so that will be my next changebrOverall good value compared to bikes of similar money
Comment from : Phil Self

Anderson Astor
In Brazil this model sells with Shimano Claris components It sells today for about U$740 Pricier, but it is good choice for begginers because everything here is more expensive I recently bought one and loved it Best present i gave for myself in years ah! and here, the frame has a replaceable rear derailleur hanger o/ and it has rear and front holes for racks!!! Nice bike!
Comment from : Anderson Astor

Defying Blueprints
Why would the lights not contribute to visibility? It's a light
Comment from : Defying Blueprints

Outdoor Gaming
Same bike, 550 euros in The Netherlands 😅 My first brand new bike was a Triban 100 First year it took me 8500 km around the country to different randonneur events It was the spark that started my passion for endurance rides❤
Comment from : Outdoor Gaming

Finnspin
As much as I love my "retro" roadbike which I probably got at a relatively similar pricepoint all things (bit of maintenance and upgrades) considered, I totally get why these Decathlon bikes are a great buy For me a pretty steel frame with chrome chainstays and some Mavic Cxp30 rims is something I love, but objectively the Triban probably is a bit better being lighter and having more gears brAnd you can just go to a store to buy it without knowing anything, while buying second hand does require a bit of know how to see if you are buying something well cared for or a future moneypit
Comment from : Finnspin

Jonathan Sheppard
I’ve got a Triban RC520, If you need it for a video give me a shout…I live in South Shields so I’m close
Comment from : Jonathan Sheppard

Noam Solomons-Wise
Great video I've been riding the Triban RC500 Disc as my first road bike Would be interested to know what you think about it Main complaint is how heavy it is and I'm not a fan of mechanical discs, but otherwise it is good!
Comment from : Noam Solomons-Wise

Slow Down Cooking
Carbon fork? Why would you do that on such an inexpensive bike? No thanks!
Comment from : Slow Down Cooking

FKA Soffers
if only it was as chewap in The Netherlands, here it is a 650 euro bike
