As for Shatner's performance as a presenter here, I keep wanting to tell him, "Bill, you're the greatest Starfleet commander in the entire universe, but you'd look even greater than you already do if you wouldn't keep your mouth agape while you're not talking" It does look kinda pained or strained Guess he couldn't wait for it to be his turn again when Nimoy was talking, silently reading Nimoy's lines from the prompter as well in order to come back in at the right moment

Was there something edited out of this? I have a recollection of William Shatner briefly talk about the new upcoming Star Trek series in development (which would become Deep Space Nine), specifically mentioning a planned "Science officer in a rocket-powered wheelchair" (I believe that quote is exact)

During the first three seasons run of TOS (of my ages 8 to 10), I was a trekkie From its initial TV syndication run (on many a local UHF station nationwide) in the fall of 1969, I became a trekker as I boldly moved on and got a life beyond Star Trek, but remained still fascinated and entertained by the expanding and evolving genre I'm still trekkin' after all these years

Think about this: for the first 25 years of the franchise, Star Trek was a pop culture powerhouse gaining more and more momentum That was with only 3 seasons of TOS, 2 seasons of TAS, the first 4 seasons of TNG and the first 6 movies--THAT WAS IT NOW (unfortunately) it has sank into borderline pop culture irrelevance The only x-factor was Gene Roddenberry being alive the first 25 years (1966-1991)

i love the way they had the movie posters all hanging next to each other it actually influenced me to do the same so bought the Trek I-VI posters (27x40) around that time 91 and had just enough wall space to have them next to each other (tracking down VI was abit difficult at the time as none of the comic stores seemed to have it) brThat era of the 25th anniversary was such a happy time :) reading about the gradual making of Trek VI in the letters page of the Trek DC comics (which had started buying every month) and in the fan club magazine (with the ever expanding enter page catalogue of trek goodies to order: altho not for uk) , the various 25th ann magazines like starlogs sliver cover special edition, and all the new TOS CIC vhs and model kits with the 25th logo plus you had the Unification 2 parter and this doc (gives a glimpse of VI) and eventually a few months later you had Trek VI which felt like the best film so far! (and was buying all the VI stuff: starlog magazine, DC comic, novel, making of book, and of course the final version 27x40 one sheet!)

hey maybe the sorry state of star trek in 2020 is one of those dark alternate time lines, and at the last second in a desperate battle in hollywood, some great writer will give his life as he resets the timeline, and we'll all be watching real star trek again, never realizing the horrors that were witnessed the first time around

Yes, the tribute to Gene was added afterwards I once was asked to do a Gene tribute for the March of Dimes that was very well received Not sure where you can find it, but I'm glad to have honored such a remarkable visionary And also rare is Patrick Stewart's tribute to Gene on the bridge, where he sings and does a little soft shoe It's a hoot, but not sure where it exists
