I wanna get into coding, in-fact I just installed Python for the third time to try and learn the skills of basic coding Especially cause I want to make apps that tailor to my specific needs and share them with others, and I have a rough understanding of what is coding, how it works, etc I'm a big computer guy! I started with BATCH coding and CFG files to start with in my younger days (I'm 24 now, was like 12) and I knew a little bit of how it worked It still confuses me to this day but I understand THE VERY BASICS like Print(), Echo, Input variables, checkboxes using visual basic, and just basic functions really This video helped me get into a more peaceful mindset about the subject Comment from : Obscure Music Archives |

I'm 33 starting my coding bootcamp on Monday I don't find that understanding html CSS and JavaScript is that difficult but I think people should learn to master the CLI and git hub and SSH keys and stuff I've studied Chemistry at University so this is a completely new thing for me Comment from : TSF1515 |

I'm so tired of this type of media pandering to the lowest common denominator of person who wants an "easy job" All this produces are developers and engineers who are way more obsessed with appearances than they are results Fucking horrible shit man Welcome to 2023, style over substance motherfuckers Comment from : tzint56 |

You say "the computer is never wrong" and hoo boy do I have a story for youbrbrJunior year of college, my partner and I just moved in together and they're taking a low-level networking class They have an assignment to write an HTTP proxy using sockets in C++ and no matter what they do their code outright refuses to work They spend literal hours tweaking, recompiling, and testing, to no avail They ask the TA for help, TA finds nothing They both go to the professor, someone with literal decades of low level networking experience, who finds nothing wrong with the code At this point I ask "have you tried running it on a different computer?" It works immediately It wasn't the OS or a firewall, either, since the code continued to not work when the bad computer was in a secondary Linux installbrbrTo this day, no one has any idea why that one specific program wouldn't work on that one specific computer, but sometimes it bactually is/b the computer that's wrong Comment from : Bryce Dixon |

Bro, Opened this video thinking it was going to be some nonsense self-help thing for starting a new career I was wrong I'm a project manager for a construction company and I hate it, or at least I dislike thinking that that is what I'm going to do with the rest of my life I approached code - Java - way back at the recommendation of some former friends who pushed me into it WAY to quicklybrbrI've found I struggle with remembering, not learning, if that makes any since? So for me repetition is the name of the game I've recently pulled up my old CodeAcademy Account and started over to see if I can get this The way people describe me It really does seem like coding is the mindset for me brbrWatching the first half of the video I MOST DEFINITELY am a problem solver At work I've had to tell them, "don't ask me I don't get paid like those IT guys," just to keep my co-workers from having me solve problems for them I would have to whole-heartily agree that I am a problem solver; why not give enough info to the next person if it helps them take a step a bit easier? I've found that I am the only one - at work - that thinks that way brbrThank you for this video I book marked it and will watch it again when I get to each step of my journey Because I didn't really understand the end half but I'm hoping this is for me I'm hoping, praying, trying and seeking after a new path that fits my mind way better You laid out this info in a manner that really took hold I don't normally type this much brbrThank you! Comment from : Devin B |
|
Brilliant! Thank you for your amazing content! Your video gets a bit high-level for me, but that's exactly what I wanted out of a video like this: a high-level overview of everything involved in becoming a software developer Also, you have a very nicely edited video I normally look for problems and have complaints, but your video is perfect from start to finish Thank you, Namanh Kapur, for your uber-high-quality content I have "liked" and "subscribed" as I want to take every action possible to support your exemplary work! Comment from : GitfiddleMike |

Software only deals with what can be done with a set of bits (hardware instructions) It is not which compiler you pick (they all do the same thing), it is the environment that they implement which is the bare minimum logic, they are all bad We need to move away from software compilers Software compilers do not work, they all do the same thing, they all take the same amount of effort (man years of work) Software is a dead end technology With 48 years of experience, I am still doing what I did when I started Same arguments, same fads, same religion, same issues, same amount of work No advancement at all Pretty pictures, but nothing more The technology is getting slower, and more restrictive Comment from : Clif Collins |

I recently got my Engineering degree and I learned how to use all sorts of coding languages, but I mostly worked with C/C++, assembly, and other very "bottom up" languages that required myself to act as the system Now, I really want to learn Phython and I've tried learning so many times, but I always tend to overcomplicate it because it's a language that assumes many things for you brbrDo you have any advice for approaching Python with a beginner mindset when I'm already in so deep in lower level languages? Python will be absolutely needed during my Masters degree for modeling purposes, and I'm starting to feel a bit defeated 😢 Comment from : Emily Alexander |
|
So true with the humility as a requirement Im majoring in computer science engineering and if i could only have one dollar per annoying, cocky, and self-centered guys who i have met and who think their codes are the best and only they are correct i would be rich Comment from : paracxzm |

Here's some instant encouragement for the majority of this community Vocational Computer Science HS Dip, some Computer Science college courses, United States Marine E-5 called to arms (Gulf War) interrupting my studies, United Parcel Supervisor upon return, realized the cost of having children is very expensive, applied and was accepted for a Law Enforcement Job, retired 25 years later in present time, (Here's the encouraging part I referenced earlier) I'm exploring, again, my original passion for Computer Science Focusing into Cybersecurity / Programing So after that long winded introduction What's my point you say? Great question! I'm now 53 years young looking for my part two(2) in life diving into certifications, reading books, exploring communities like this one in an attempt to sponge everything I can to help me achieve my goal to become a cybersecurity expert When I started the only terminal was MS DOS and the only language was BASIC programing I'm going to get mine Nothing should stop you from getting yours Stay Blessed and never stop expanding your 'brain-housing-group' 😉👍 Comment from : Gilberto Borrero |

Yeah, humility is a super important part to grow (except, funny story, one time I made a calculator with my friend in java and a bug was only the computer's fault, or maybe us that didn't know the computer too well basically when we inputted a number it had to use a comma ans we used a point, the thing that weirded us out is that the output was always with a point, so when the first time we saw the output be with a point we assumed the input too had to use points and not commas) sorry for my broken english I just woke up and am not a native speaker lol Comment from : GlezIsBauk |
