Very good and important point on how 'professor teaching a newbie" wouldn't actually be a good idea I'd even extend it to also developers that are very very experienced in a given field - most of such people take some things they already know for granted and are unable to grasp how different it is for a newcomer This can also be seen in many tools documentation - I'd even risk saying that it SHOULDN'T be written by the super-in-depth creator(s) of the tool! At least not the tutorials/getting started etc pieces, it probably makes sense in the context of all nitty gritty details (so every tenth person that actually uses given documentation?) Hey Nick Thank you for your video I watched your video and also some other videos like this and I wonder why people suggest first learning backend and frontend and only after that applying to jobs? I mean, people can find jobs as a backend developers and start gaining real commercial experience, aren't they? This is how it works in east Europe where I am from I learned Java, Git, Maven, SQL and I found a job as a backend developer 15 years ago I continue learning every day and I still didn't have a chance to learn frontend technologies and Python just because I have so many technologies to learn right now which I need as a backend developer - message brokers, cloud, frameworks, microservice architecture, etc I would appreciate it if you or other developers with experience in the West comment on this Thanks Comment from : @NikiforovJava |

Overthinking things or for me “trying too hard“ definitely slowed me down That point is huge Another key is patience Don’t rush through anything complex, you’ll end up regretting it Comment from : @jm101 |

9:00 I would say you need a good healthy ego and confidence in yourself, that is a feeling it has nothing to do with being analytical, my confidence varies day to day and as I have gotten to know myself better I recognize that I used to have very little ego and self confidence in university and new topics would kind of stress me out cause they seemed complex , I just read the title and said wtf is this abstract thing , it has such a new and complicated name it must be extremely hardbr( It didn't help that everyone made it look like either it was too easy and you felt stupid for not seeing how easy it was or made it to look like it was impossible which was even worse you start thinking we are developing nuclear science here)brbrAnd I would always fall in that trap and never self reflect "hey stupid you just learned a concept last week that seemed so dawning and it was extremely easy", so you need to be in touch with your feeling and be self aware and maybe even write a diary of how you feel so you can improve Comment from : @joeroganpodfantasy42 |

I can not speak properly because of stuttering I tried different methods to overcome the issue, but they usually don’t work I feel quite confident about myself, but it seems like my subconscious doesn’t But from now on every time when I feel I’m about to stutter, I think about Nick and his monotonous, deep, slow and undoubtedly mesmerising speaking You literally have the slowest speech I’ve ever heard It calms me down and helps me to speak fluently Thank you! oh my god, why in Vietnam when they reach 35 years old, people won't code anymore but will move to another job In European and American countries, it is different, they still code when they are 50 years old Vietnam fires programmers very quickly if you don't try to become a manager Comment from : @duyluat1298 |

I'm around 2 years into learning to code and cannot agree more with what you say around 10:00 about overcomplicating things at the beginning I still do this all the time! It's easy to feel bamboozled by a program of hundreds of lines of code, but I love it when I can break it down and go "oh this is just a loop iterating through a list and that means that this is Etc etc" Comment from : @yppahpeek |
|
