Any tips to get a large dog back on board? My 70 lbs Chesapeake Bay Retriever wants to jump in, and its hard to get her back on unless I go to shore Comment from : AndyWager |

Look I'm fat, i run a Tower XPlorer, I have a old plastic coated stirrup, some marine line, and hook that to the handle, in the water you just get behind the board you can use the marine line to pull the board towards you, your foot in the stirrup in the water gives you something to push against(and helps pull the board under you) I'd never get on doing a side remount, this method hasn't failed this klutz I legit just remount from the back of the board, I try and remember not to use my foot with the surf leash attached seems to make my life harder I isup on Lake Superior, Huron and Michigan And little tiny lakes around me Comment from : K J |
|
tnx!! Comment from : Калле- Kalle Кала-Kala |

I dont know if its because I gained some weight But I've been suggested to "crawl" from the back of the board if I ever fell Was pretty slippery Luckily I am in pretty good shape even while being bulkier right now I juste used the small ass hooks to pull myself up with my index fingers 😆 Next time ima definitely try from the side ! Comment from : Alex Pepin |

Thank you For this topic I fell off a rented, inflatable sup, flatable sup! Im large chested, I was struggling to get back up! Love the stirrup idea! Comment from : nurseguardian |
|
I find it easy to get on again after a normal fall, that said I am arround 60kg and most of that is musclemassbrHowever, I managed to turn the wholenboard over 2 days ago, the top beeing in the water, including the drybag, and the fin sticking upbrAfter a short moment of panic I let myself be carried by the safety west thingy, grabed the fin, and the closer edge to me in the middle and pushed the middle away from me and the fin towards me and down once the board was the right way up again, getting on was easybrbr Comment from : Michael Fankhauser |

My best friend has always been 25 feet of water Comment from : Robin R Koykka |

Thanks for the tutorial (in the name of the peoples:)), but could you show this done by a woman with huge tits?brNice that you cover the PFD problem, it almost make it as difficult to get back, but we can always remove the PFD, but girls can't really remove the breasts, and especially not while in the water and trying to get back on the boardbrI saw women with smaller breasts struggle with getting back to the board, but someone with really big ones, especially if they have a PFD vest on, it looked almost impossiblebrI like the helper rope idea, I'll try it, but if you have any useful idea for the goddesses out there, they sure would appreciate it :) Comment from : TalkCafe del Mar |
|
I will try the rope trick! I fall off veeeery often, and most of the times i try to get back i flip the board, get anxious and waste a lot of energy trying to get back until someone can hold the opposite side to avoir the flip Comment from : Alejandro González Vázquez |

Hello again I have deliberately tipped myself into the water to practice this at Clevedon Marine lake Last year! I am going to do so again in this month of April At Saltford And practice it again brbrRiver paddle boarding is a little bit different from the seaside But I should be able to do it Comment from : Stephen Farthing |
|
I fell right next to a rapid in a river and to avoid the rapid, i swam to the side of the river and grabbed to foliage to get back on my board I was not wearing my PFD I panicked and lost my paddle in the rapid I was lucky to find it later Not wearing my PFD was a mistake, specially in a river Comment from : GodOfWine |

I was practicing self rescues today and I just can't get on my 6" inflatable with my life jacket on but it's easy to do if I take the life jacket off(not a great thing to do in a real situation hah!) I'm going to try making a stirrup and see how that goes with the life jacket next time Comment from : Ted Milker |
|
Thank you very much for explaining the different techniques!!! Comment from : Nicole Neff |
|

Indeed I think that approaching the aft of the board is not the easiest option I have been thinking of approaching the board from a 15 or 20° angle of the stern of it And taking it slower to get back onto the board is also something to consider Something I will be practicing next Monday of the 15th August At Clevedon Marine lake assuming that the problem with water clarity is resolved by the 12th of the monthbrbrOh yes - and although the main recommendation is barefoot for paddle boarding The advice at the Clevedon Marine lake is to wear surf shoes when wading through the water That will have to be taken in consideration of the doing so Comment from : Stephen Farthing |

You made me afraid to fall down Some of us complete beginners were using sup for the first time and some of my friends just jumped into the water for fun and get back on their boards without knowing any techniques etc I assumed it was piece of cake easy Now i read your comments that it is not an easy task, so now i am afraid to fall in (and previously i was not, seeing how easy my newbie buddies got back on theirs) Comment from : M |
|
For SUP SAFETY ist an absolute NoNo to hold on to the middle bar with one hand and with the other hand on the end of the board Thats just the perfect way to make your board turn over on you I teach this kind of things and i always teach NEVER grab the middle handle The Better AND safer solution is to place your hands onto the board and push yourself up on one side of the rail The Flip-Over is with two people NOT alone I cant recommend the third method with the rope Its MUCH more useful to train to get back on your board in a safe space Its a question of the right techique Comment from : Fire Flower |

I've taken newbies out on kayak and SUPs, and always have them practice falling off and re-boarding in chest-deep water before going into deep water I've found rolling from belly to butt once up makes bringing legs on board much easier Comment from : Gary Sapper |

I’m anxiously waiting for my 1st SUP to arrive! When I rented a SUP to see if it was for me I didn’t fall off but I know I will at some point Thanks for the lesson about getting back on! Comment from : Katrina Allen |

I'm new to SUPing Got a 34" wide, 6" thick inflatable Fell in my last two times on the water and cannot get myself back on despite trying these methods I'm a 5"2 male so I am short Not a particularly big chest/tummy, but it feels like my problem is my arms aren't long enough to reach to the center handle Possibly my life vest is getting in the way too (I am in the process of replacing it with one that hopefully isn't as bulky) Anyway when I pull or lift myself onto the side of the board, it topples and flips over me I have also tried from the back, but find myself unable to get a good enough grip to pull myself up from there Watching these videos and seeing others do it successfully, I feel like somehow they are positioned higher above the surface of the water than I am Not sure how that can be Obviously I tried with my chest facing down into the water and legs kicking behind me Comment from : Le Liu |

Got a taste of that wind yesterday in a tidal river, board smacked in my face, should have watched this first 😂🌊 Comment from : shevi04 |
