Janet Kenny
Pulling the plug n December, I maybe could have retired at 62, but wouldn’t have received all my pension The creeping health issues have really woken me up and stress is so toxic in the workplace I’m planning out my road to happier, healthy me

The current market/economy is unnecessarily tougher for boomers/senior citizens, I’m used to just buying and holding assets which doesn’t seem applicable to the current rollercoaster market plus inflation is catching up with my portfolio of $2m I’m really worried about survival after retirement

Started following you recently Great videos and info to consider Azul! I'm 48 and my wife and I are really wanting to retire in the next 5 years when I can get everything paid off and kids will be in college/working We have 90 of our net worth in real estate and 10 in the markets I'm a real estate broker so it's in my tool box :) Hoping to live off the cash flow from the rentals 98 of the time, and equity in those homes in case of an emergency and I need to sell one off for cash

William Wei
That 1st statement about a 60 year old having less than 1,000 weeks left is extremely thought provoking I retired at 60 but probably should have left 15 years earlier Once you have sufficient funds, it's all about time and health
Comment from : William Wei

D Johnson
I'm 61 and own my own business I love what I do and don't think I will ever retire I know too many people who retire early and either get bored and go back to work or become very sedentary and their health starts to deteriorate Some of the oldest living people I know worked their entire life, well into their 80's
Comment from : D Johnson

Stevens Middlemass
It's recommended to save at least 15 of your income in a 401k By saving this much, you can take advantage of compound interest and potentially grow your retirement savings over time don't think I could retire with less than $3m in income generating investments and i'm not talking 401k, maybe $2m at the very minimum
Comment from : Stevens Middlemass

Edna
Impressive video I started a bit late (graduated from my doctorate program at age 30 in 2016 with 170k in school loan debt) Managed to pay off my debt by 2019 and currently have a house and 250k total in investments (combo of profit share, 401k and a brokerage account) I'm not very knowledgeable with investing, so I have all my capital currently vested in index funds but considering the dollar dumping and current inflation crisis How optimal would this be beneficial long term?
Comment from : Edna

Julie G
I’m enjoying your confidence, knowledgeable advice while casually walking, talking, smiling w/an occasional wink at us! I’m working my retirement plans out now for 2026/2027 (I’m 60 now)and my husband will be a year or two after me We already own our house and have no debt, so accumulating savings while I ‘practice’ retirement (GREAT idea!) with up to 4 weeks paid vacation each of next 3 yearsbrAnd I love that scene you re-enacted in Dead Poet’s Society Very powerful life perspective
Comment from : Julie G

sarawilliam
As part of my retirement plans and also owing to the very shaky housing market now, I just sold a property in Philly and I'm thinking to put the cash in stocks, I know everyone is saying its ripe enough, but Is this a good time to buy stocks? How long until a full recovery? How are other people in the same market raking in over $200k gains in months, I'm really just confused at this point

The way we build houses is meant to cost your money every month I don't think I have ever heard of utility bills going down I am the last of GenX So decide to retire by 50 And sell current house paid for because tax sale house and live in passive solar masonry earthship type cottage Have cottage foundation dug now Less bills the better And most of the concrete block already Hope to build a sailboat upon retiring or moving up north in the next 5-7 years I like gold and silver and tax sale houses Already planting trees and building bee hives for retirement Money is a long term store of value like gold and silver Currencies loose value over time and always end up going to zero value I also do store of value like my old 82 wagoneer and cj3b Can't leave outside of the house because random people wanting to buy them

Part1
What if you don't have the money? I mean who doesn't want to retire, but there's something called reality My dad worked till he was 77, not that I want to work that long but 70 is probably the number because I'm 58 and don't have a big 401k
Comment from : Part1

everyone is different do whatever the heck you want to do I wish my wife didn't piss away 9 years working after I retired at age 53 Could have done so many more things together I told her that she didn't need to continue working I think that her parents genes are in her they lived through the 1930s and were in WW2 so I think that they learned to be very careful with their money and were afraid to retire Good news we added more than a million dollars to our saving because she kept working and we started with 7 figures FYI are 3-year running average of spending is $94,000/year and we own everything Not sure where it goes but it goes and our savings still grows so I don't care

I’ve been a stay-at-home spouse but my husband is now retired and we want to travel We don’t splurge or anything like that The inflation has hit hard and we began to draw from his 401k which is in safe investment We wish to make the money grow, should we get an advisor?

The content of many of your videos is pretty good and I enjoy them But please give it a test with reminding people to hit the like button and to subscribe… its kind of off putting Also, that financial advisors are conservative is not a secret, nor is the Monte Carlo tool Keep it real please !

Nathan Isenhour
I'm going to chime in here Good advice br I'm sure in this Monte Carlo financial test The scenario of a major financial melt down , Divorce, and serious medical issue arises I received all 3 The deadly 3 That reaps it all And retired early mind youEverything own out right br And ugly showed its big head Not my ex-wifeMmm you could say that too Lol I'm trucking alongnow And looking for a back door into Outback Yep, Australia's back country The oceans are awesome with the fishing etc Don't live there waiting out their government issues

Retiring when I hit 51 because that is when my full pension is available for the lump sum I built my own house so it's all paid for and I should be able to fix anything that goes wrong with it, as long as I keep my body healthy Health is the only unknown, but other than that I can live very frugally We own a dog kennel so that will be easy, somewhat passive, income after I retire from the tech world Good luck y'all
Comment from : Roger Walker

My wife won’t do a damn thing to reduce expenses or otherwise adjust to a lower standard of living consistent with retirement Divorce you say? Alright, but we would have to sell our house first in order to divide the equity She won’t do anything to participate in getting the house ready for sale

Outstanding channel! I already follow or know most of the advice you give, but it's helpful reinforcement I did enjoy that suggestion to speak to my 80 year old self, hadn't considered that😀 He tells me to party like I've only got one life to live Yes sir, will do!
Comment from : Sideler

blvany
I just had a conversation with my 80-year-old self which is quite easy because I am indeed 80 years old! I didn't take the advice in this video to retire well before 65 (I retired at 68) and I'm very pleased in retrospect with my decision because my best earning years were in my 60s and I found my work at the time very fulfilling The additional funds that I earned and saved during this period gave me a large enough financial cushion to pretty much assure (without the need for a Monte Carlo simulation) that I will not run out of money barring some very extreme end-of-life medical expenses My net worth is still very close to what it was when I retired (thanks to a couple of pensions, IRA rollovers (from 401(k)s), Social Security, and investments, and I continue to be very active and engaged in my community I have been taking about three vacation trips per year, all of them domestic (I'm not a big international traveler by nature) So I have had 12 excellent years since I retired, my health is good, and I'm looking forward to several more years of being very active (There is longevity in my family, which increases my confidence at this point) I also don't want to "Die With Zero" because there are a couple of people I want to leave money to who have real financial challenges So my main point is that retiring well before 65 is not necessarily the best course for everyone
Comment from : blvany

Tom Finan
Thanks Azul appreciate your videos! I would like to see you do a video on those top 5 books you mentioned Thanks again and keep up the good work, us potential retirees look forward to your clear advice from a financial advisor perspective but with a real straightforward and practical life forward view
Comment from : Tom Finan

Ran
Nice video and all respect but you don’t need a financial adviser to know you’ll be ok Read JL Collin’s book: “The Simple Path to Wealth” it’ll give you more than confidence, it’ll give you the tools you need to be a successful investor in simple and understandable terms I have friends who are financial advisers but not one of those people care more about my money and success than I do That said, I agree 100 to retire at the earliest date that makes sense for you Cheers
Comment from : Ran

Mary Star
Yes, please, the 5 books video would be appreciated, thank you!

Sue McKamely
I retired at 64 (now 73) and my husband retired at 62 (now 75) We saved for retirement and never spent more than we could afford We both stay busy, me with selling on EBay as a hobby, fitness classes, mowing 6 acres of grass and trimming, and socializing with friends My husband has been working on installing an inground pool, for which he bought a backhoe and did all the digging He has done so many projects before and since retirement The old adage of get it done before retirement as you won’t have the time once retired is so true Keep active, your body and mind will be thankful!
Comment from : Sue McKamely

I think people should consider retiring in late 50s or early 60s Let’s face it after that not much time left For financial reasons people should consider retiring out of USA Everyone situation is different

BRICS with 80+ states are dumping dollar as global currency That means USA is in great trouble You cannot be sure that your savings will be worth anything Most important is to stay healthy and many of us can improve health Retiring to early looks sooo boring To me, better is working less, make long vacations, but not going in early retirement I was watching videos from people who make early retirement and many working again
Comment from : xcs casas

I’m 57 and retiring soon from 25 years at a high tech company as a lawyer Will be going back to school on the GI Bill for three years (from my active duty military days) The GI Bill pays me a salary and I will get a housing allowance I will be following my passion and going to culinary school If you are young reading this and want to retire early, consider the military reserve You will get a lot of benefits when you do 20 years, and you will get healthcare and a pension when you turn 60 It will be a huge lifestyle change going back to school, but I will be doing something I love (I have no plans to cook professionally once I am done with culinary school)

Its better to die with money in the bank than to have pissed it all away and go on living in poverty when your old and frail You dont know when you will die unless you commit suicide so your comment about spending all your money before you die really dont make any sence

NikkiL
Retired at 58 due to a corporate downsizing I wanted to retire at 55 but stayed for the “package” Silly mistake I worked in HR and knew that the difference in your pension is basically the cost of lunch So many employees would call in trying to figure out how to delay retiring And I would try to make them look at the numbers But they would stay to 65 or even 70 and six months later they die The additional stress of those years had burnt them out Now after 9 years of retirement, I couldn’t be happier

Little note: it's never "postpone your retirement" it is "reduce your retirement" Retiring later few years - just cuts few years from it, not pushes it into the future, LOL :-)

retiring assumes you have something useful to do in retirement If you don't its going to be a quick decline anyway, so better to work if you don't have a reasonable plan
Comment from : Spinnetti

Lifeis Short
I assumed from an early age 2 things every day is your last day and always leave money so ghat your family will not be left out in the cold if something happened to you So this is what i did From 22 to 40 worked hard and paid house off no debts at all During that time learnt to be renovator so reduced house repairs by 75 From 40 to 55 worked as high paid contractor so wax able to walk away from toxic enviroments and people Dont drink or smoke at all, did my interest in parallel with working which was being an entertainer Ps was sock with migraine so lost 30 of my life from 30 to 55 Now in late 50s with no debt, my advice is dont put all your eggs in one basket ie dont ry on stock market or house price or inheritance as sole investment Dont drink or smoke or take narcotics at all Dont use credit cards other tgan to buy tickets for shows and pay it off in the week, spend every minute you can loving and being kind to everyone You see last year i died on operating table and was brought back and when i was on otherside i did not have any regrets excepts wasting time on toxic people So all that was left to do after i came back was end 1 toxic relationship with a sibling thats right just because they are a family doensnt mean you need to accept it Life is short do what you love doing every day and dont wait for retirement
